husband & i stayed at this motel returning home from a vacation. we contemplated staying here as we had bad vibes about it but we were real tired from driving for many hours and just wanted to crash. we were charged over $100 to stay at this place and it wasn't worth it. there was a huge plunger in the bathroom and i soon found out why because it took around 4 to 5 flushes for things to go down. there was no extra roll of toilet paper in case you needed more and there should have been as both rolls were very low. the toilet paper holder was all rusty. the room needed a makeover as some of the walls & ceilings had cracks and holes in them. the floors were sticky to walk on. very little towels. we opted not to use the shower so i can't say what that was like. there was a creepy broken down looking van near our room which made us wonder about this motel. someone else i notice also mentioned this in their review. so i don't know if its a fixture at the motel or what. the most significant problem we experienced was the room had a powerful overwhelming smell to it which we didn't know at first if it was an air freshener or a pesticide spray. we fell asleep and the next morning the smell had dissipated. we mentioned this to the desk clerk who then informed us that the room probably had been sprayed or maybe a insect bomb was set off. this really disturbed us as my husband is a cancer patient. the clerk said if we had mentioned it she would have moved us to a room i told her i didn't want when we checked in. why are they putting people in rooms that have just probably hours earlier been sprayed? the inside of the motel was constructed like a maze. there wasn't enough signage inside so you could find your way around. i had to call the front desk to find out how to get from my room to the lobby. we were not the only ones having this problem. another man we met also could not find his way to the lobby. the breakfast selection was terrible. i am diabetic and everything was carby or high in sugar content so i couldn't eat anything there. if you wanted a boiled egg you had to peel it yourself and i don't like boiled eggs. no shading at all on the side of the motel we parked on. we will not ever stay here again. i don't understand how anyone would give this place 5 stars. read the low reviews first and then make your own decision. to me this motel should be charging like $50 a night. i don't give very many reviews but if we don't have a good experience i think others should know. the only good thing i will say is the desk clerk was very nice and said she'd tell the manager of...
Read moreThe front desk gentleman was nice and helpful, but there’s of the rest of the hotel! The hallway reeked of weed constantly at night and early in the morning. I don’t mind people smoking weed, but when it’s so pungent that all you smell is weed the whole time you’re there that’s a problem. The cleaners on the other hand didn’t clean the rooms the first 3 days we were there then I had to go to the front desk and get more towels. They only give you 2 towels, 1 hand and 1 washcloth! I asked the front desk clerk when did they clean the rooms? He kindly said every 2 days. Granted I had two dogs with me, but we took them with us to the job site every day.. when they finally came in to clean the room the cleaners took the extra clean towels that we had and left us with two towels that’s it. No extra toilet paper no extra Kleenex. By Wednesday we had ran out of toilet paper. My husband had to get up at 6 AM Thursday morning and run over to the gas station to get a roll of toilet paper.. Thursday morning I found the cleaners and ask them for another roll of toilet paper and extra towels again. Then we to see things that we shouldn’t! I don’t appreciate seeing people that are staying in the hotel peeing in the hotel parking lot twice, Really!!!! I get quality is a two star hotel but I’m sorry that’s just beyond!!! Completely inappropriate. Especially when you see trash in rooms that are closed off broken windows debris.. people using their grills and just throwing them in the backyard. The parking lot is just a giant pot hole with rebar and whatever else is breaking through. One washer and dryer for the whole hotel ot at least on the first floor! Then you see a note above that says,” please don’t fill too full or does not wash your clothes”! The least you could do is have an actual laundry room and have more than one of each in there! Your choice guy that advertises on the tv is a littler off, maybe you should spend some money on remodeling that hotel instead of us watching him asking us to stay at Choice Hotels!!!!! Because in m book it looks nothing like your advertising and if we had a breakfast spread like the one you show on tv! Maybe more people would want to...
Read moreMy husband's mother lives in Albion so we travel to the area quite often. For a long time we stayed at this property when it was called Windsor Oaks but it became very run down so when the Super 8 was built, we switched to it.||So when I saw that this property is now under new management, we decided to give it a try for a one night stay.||Let's start with the bad. From the road, the motel looks like it's closed. Compared to the bright and welcoming Super 8 across the street, it looks like a spooky place. The parking lot was empty and in need of repair. When we pulled up, there was an old white van parked in front with a sketchy looking person inside. I was glad I was not alone. The outside definitely needs a lot of work to make it more inviting.||We went in and were greeted by Ashok. Despite the deserted feeling of the place, he was friendly and welcoming. We got a room and drove over to park. At this point, we became unsure about staying because there was a guy sitting in the weedy lawn near the pool area. ||We decided to go in and see the room. Here's the good. The inside halls were definitely redone and are a step up from the old Windsor Oaks. The security doors were good. The room was clean and new. The shower was very good, the bed new and everything worked well. But the view was of a weedy courtyard that was a little unpleasant. No one comes to Grayville for a view but a nicely tended green area would be a plus--maybe a pollinator friendly garden could be put in.||The breakfast area was very clean. The coffee was fresh and hot. I did notice that there were only packaged pastries available but that might be because I came for coffee about 8 am.||I realize that the property is under renovation and I think they are on the right track. Keep up the good work! Please take this review in the spirit intended. We are happy to see something good going on...
