We had a great time at the Westwood Saloon Restaurant. Our Hostess Kayla was fantastic! We had a dozen family members and she was very helpful to set up a large table to accommodate all of us. Very genuine, friendly and welcoming. A round of drinks and our orders were taken quickly. The food for everyone arrived at the same time and fairly quickly especially considering our group size. The food was very good. The Cowboy Burger was cooked to order with a top grade of beef. Delicious! The quesadillas, riblets, chili, and pot pie were all very good too. Lots of choices! Besides the restaurant/bar Westwood is a frontier town theme recreation and RV and tent camping area with a great western theme playground, mini-golf, shooting gallery, and several different western front buildings and a "dance hall" suitable for weddings, receptions, and parties. There is a separate building with a fairly large covered area that was being used for a large family gathering. A large parking lot is an easy walk to the restaurant and additional parking and accessible parking was very close to everything. Westwood was easy to get to just off I-64 exit 130, head north on Illinois route 1 less than a mile and set back nicely west of Route 1. Check out their pictures and website. Enjoy the Westwood Saloon...
Read moreI highly recommend stopping here-- especially if you are traveling with kids. The food was very good. The chicken strips may be the best I've ever had. I rated this 4 stars for food only because my husband said the pulled pork sandwich was a little dry, but everything else our family had was excellent! The decor is super fun and very well done in the "Western Saloon" theme. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean, and the service was excellent.
If you have the time, there is also a mini golf course on site, as well as a laser shooting range. We didn't do the shooting range this time so I don't know the cost for that, but the mini golf was reasonably priced, IMO, at $10/ person for 18 holes (you can also opt to only do 9 holes, or all 27 holes...
Read moreI ordered takeout for 6:45. Pulled up at 6:45. Absolutely everything was cold. I mean, COLD. As if it hadn't ever been hot, certainly not in the last hour, and I ordered it 30 minutes before we arrived for a specific time. The pulled pork tasted like pork, nothing special. Not terribly smokey, not terribly moist, very blah and cold cold COLD. Fries were COLD. I am a cole slaw connoisseur. The cole slaw tasted like prepackaged grocery store cole slaw, which is NOT a compliment. The cheesy potatoes were tasty, albeit COLD. My son ate the macaroni and cheese, but his hot dog bun was soggy from the cheese, and of course, everything was COLD. We spent $40 including tip, and we wished we had driven through the Wendy's. The...
