I’ve been camping every year for 20+ years, never have I experienced such a rude campground. We arrived in the evening and was trying to set up 2 campsites late so we didn’t get to start making dinner until 10pm, so we were probably a little louder than those around us, but not worthy of a noise complaint. The neighbor near us called and reported a noise complaint and the campground sent out the DNR to let us know to keep it down. They didn’t say anything else. The next day we had another guest arrive and at check in, they told our guest that if we get another noise complaint we will have to leave. (So apparently you get 1 warning then you have to leave). They also told our guest we were shining flashlights on others, but 1, that never happened and 2, the DNR officer didn’t even say anything about that to us. So that was news to us when our guest informed us. They also never told us this “1 more and you’re out”warning, only told that to our guest so i guess they were just planning to surprise kick us out if our guest hadn’t arrived and let us know this warning. Keep in mind quiet hours are 10pm to 7am, so then we had to make our children whisper and tiptoe as soon as 10pm hit each night. Couldn’t let them play with sparklers or so anything fun after dark. Again, never experienced this at any campground. What adds to it the person who complained about us, her children kept running around yelling the n word, and we had a diverse camping group. But the campground did nothing about her or her kids and took her word on the complaint instead of asking us any questions. One night out of curiosity i took a walk around the campground at 10:30pm, sure enough the entire campground was dead silent. You can’t make a single bit of noise after 10pm. I guess this is the campground to go to if you’re retired and go to bed at 10pm, and have no plans on having fun after dark, but this is not the place to go if you have kids and/or like using your camping time to enjoy every single moment of the trip including once the sun is down. A couple days later, we were in the camp store deciding if we wanted ice cream or not, looking at the menu. The employee put on her gloves etc to dip ice cream without even asking if that’s what we wanted yet. Then she asks what can i get for you, but when we said “we aren’t sure if we are getting any ice cream yet, still thinking about it” she slammed the ice cream door, threw her gloves off, and stomped away. The pool staff was nice, so that was the only 1 thing they had going for them. Fast forward to pack up day, the campground staff showed up at our campground at 12:50 (check out time was 1pm) and despite seeing were were literally grabbing our last things, they angrily told us “if you are on this site at 1:00pm we are charging you for an extra night for each campsite (we had 2).” Again, I’ve never had that happen. Most campgrounds don’t care if you’re 10-15 min late getting off of a site. That resulted in everyone on our site rushing and feeling so frustrated at the end. I do not recommend this campground at all, and again I’ve been camping most of my life at multiple campgrounds per year and I’ve never had a complaint or any issues at any...

Site 11 in Campground 1 is like parking in a Walmart parking lot except there it's actually free! This is my first time ever staying in Mohican State Park campground and wish I had never stopped as this particular campsite is a dirt pit with an awesome view of the camper in front of me! I realize this park is gorgeous but the view from my RV is just like a Walmart parking lot! I wouldn't waste your money on these sites in the front of the park! The sites along the river are the only ones that are worth it. I canceled the remainder of my stay and only stayed for the one night that they would not refund. And when I did ask for a refund they demanded on sending me a check for my refund.. never in my life has that happened! It's always the money going back on your credit card which is exactly what should have happened here! I will never see this check because of fraud in a postal system therefore it's like throwing money down a toilet. What kind of Mickey Mouse...

Mohican State Park is a beautiful and massive place. If you enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and it just being outdoors in general, it is one of the best places in the state of Ohio to spend your time. It has ample and diverse camping facilities ranging from primitive with minimal hookups to having full electricity available.

If you don't have time to spend camping, you can spend an hour or two hiking on one of their many trails. Some are more advanced with steep surfaces, and others are much more simple and friendly to less experienced nature-lovers.

Whether it is in the spring and all of the leaves are just starting to come out, a hot summer's day where you can enjoy the full shade of the deep forest, a beautiful autumn day spent experiencing the beauty and colors of nature, or a snowy winter afternoon and you are taking in the splendor of a fully coated group of evergreens, Mohican State Park truly does have everything that fans of the...

I would go with 4.5 but since that’s not an option, I’ll go with 4 since the average is 4.7 currently. Stayed 1 night at CG. Was supposed to be 2 but there was potential for large hail and tornadoes so we left early to avoid the storm. Sites are very narrow except for some ADA sites. Stayed at 111 and it was waterlogged (April 2024). Ranger said we could move to another site for the second night but the threat of tornadoes and large hail was hard to ignore. Bathhouse is pretty clean but could be cleaner (get rid of cobwebs etc). 7 showers and only 2 toilets. No hot water in sinks. No cold water in one shower stall (the only one I tried). Hand dryer smelled like cigarette smoke.

Lots to do in the area! We stayed using an electric hookup only. Felt pretty private with a good amount of space between the sites. Fire pit provided (as with most state parks), dumpsters readily available, and restrooms were all within a quick walk. Shower house was a short drive up. Consider winter hours for the camp store, which we did not. 😀 haha We also drove the kids up to the lodge for an indoor swim one rainy day. They had so much fun! The restaurant had delicious food as well! (VERY limited gluten-free options though). My husband loved the brisket mac-n-cheese.

If you like winter camping, this is the place to go. I always hear that it is completely packed in the summer, but in the winter, it was nice and peaceful. The shower houses are extremely clean and well-kept, warm, and with all the resources you need. The visitor center has great resources, firewood, friendly people, groceries, and all of your emergency needs, as well as some information about travel. I really like the campsites that are on the river. I also enjoyed lots of hiking during the winter when we went. Overall, a great place.
