I temporarily rented an extended stay room while searching the Upper Valley for the right apartment. The paint is identical to the Fireside Inn, and the furnishings are all matching Cherrywood. I have a full and separate kitchen, a brand new and comfortable mattress, new carpeting, freezing cold air-conditioning, great WIFI, Movie Channels, and a brand new flat-screen. The entire hotel is quiet every night. I ended up hearing that this hotel had a bad reputation in the past, and I can say that if it did, that the new management here is doing an amazing job! The other local hotels, such as the Super 8 was loud, chaotic, and the hotel that was the one filled with crime and chaos. I was at the other place for 1 night and will never go back there again. There have been major renovations at Shady Lawn, trees planted and flowers, bushes and planters everywhere, and the property is beautifully maintained! It suited my needs more than any other local hotel could, at a weekly affordable rate....There is also a great large/small dog park right down the street and a beautiful river to go swimming in. and is less than a 1 minute drive to The Upper Valley Food Co-op, which is great! It is in a neighborhood rather than a huge commercial/business area, which is great!
The old reviews are exactly that....old reviews, and some potentially from the kind of people the management WONT allow to stay here or competing hotels, hence no picture of the supposed "people" reviewing the hotel. I hope this helps to guide your choice. They deserve support as they are a non-corporate, family owned and operated business...and they truly care about your stay and...
Read moreOne of Vermont's finest establishments. Riverfront view! Come enjoy historic white river Junction's very own Shady Lawn. The shadiest of all lawns around. Driving on the highway, you'll see the bright 'ADY AWN". You have 2 choices. Run, or pull off the next exit to your vacation hotspot. Upon closer inspection, the jagged garage door is welcoming. If "Turn right at the green dumpster" isn't in the directions, I don't know about you, but I am at the wrong place. The Shady Lawn is host to some of the areas most famous individuals. They choose this resort as a luxury apartment. Being waited on hand and foot. If you make it through the night, you're sure to find whatever vice you may be looking for. If you see cops, it's normal. Probably just another drug bust. Could be ol' dirty dave playin' around on Craigslist again. I digress. The Shady Lawn is an excellent sight, one that is best...
Read moreWe were late at night, not well planned looking for an emergency place to crash. We fired up our GPS and went to the Shadylawn Motel. From the drive in, it looked old and run-down. ||When checking in, the lady asked if we wanted to see the room first. This should have been my first clue.|| I want say that my significant other and I are not picky people who require 100% cleanliness and brand new fixtures. We have stayed in "dives" before.||This was way below "dive" on the list. We were tired, so we got the the room and started to unpack the car. The motel looked mostly like low-income apartments, and that people were permanently living there. ||The room was downright nasty. The towels were stained brown. There were bloodstains on the walls. ||It was such a horrifying experience we went back to the front desk, dropped the key and paid $79 for a room we...
