Booked a stay here through RCI for one week. Very enjoyable! If you look through their information and photos you get a good sense for the place. We had a one bedroom upstairs unit which was very nice and equipped with everything we needed. Even with temps hitting 80 we didn’t need the AC and just opened the windows and sliding door in the bedroom and enjoyed! The ac did work fine the one night we used it, we just prefer ventilation over freezing in the ac! We both had to work in the mornings and the internet was sufficient. It didn’t stream a movie flawlessly but oh well. The pool and hot tub were nice and clean, both close at 8 pm. We were in one of the units that m was conveniently close to the parking area but still a nice view of greenery and the golf course next door (could see the parking lot too but it was fine). Some units wouldn’t have great views close to the street or overlooking the pool so if you care about that call ahead. It was quiet and convenient to the places we wanted to visit nearby so we were very pleased. The bed was very comfy, water pressure in shower was great, towels and other supplies were nice. I spent half the time working from the lanai and that was fantastic. There is a beach a short walk down the road but it has lots of boats. I recommend going north two or three beaches for good snorkeling or sand or south to the bay around Captain Cook or Two Step. Just check out Google maps for good recommendations for what you want! There are great beaches downtown that are very protected if you have kids.

Our week-long stay at Club Wyndham Mauna Loa Village was fantastic. The 2-bedroom condo was wonderful, providing ample space and comfort for our entire family. One of the highlights was the amazing waterfront view from our unit, which added a touch of luxury to our stay. The staff truly stood out, exhibiting exceptional friendliness and attentiveness. It was impressive how they remembered our names throughout our visit, making us feel truly welcomed and valued as guests. We particularly enjoyed the free hula show, which was a great cultural experience and entertainment for the evening. Another major plus was the complimentary beach equipment - chairs, umbrellas, and mats. This amenity made our beach outings much more convenient and comfortable, saving us from having to rent or pack extra items. The resort's location was convenient, situated only about an 8-minute drive from the closest beach. This allowed for easy access to the ocean while still enjoying a bit of seclusion at the resort. Overall, I would highly recommend Club Wyndham Mauna Loa Village for anyone looking for a comfortable, well-equipped, and friendly place to stay on the Big Island. The combination of great accommodations, helpful staff, and thoughtful amenities made for an excellent family vacation experience.

Extremely nice rooms for Wyndham WorldMark owners. We had a 2-story unit with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a large family room with a dining table. Going up the spiral staircase leeds you to a huge living room, a full bathroom and a full kitchen, big refer/freezer, countertop kitchen appliances like a blender, toaster, drip coffee maker, microwave, electric stove and oven, a dishwasher with garbage disposal. It's a beautiful suite with 2 lanais upstairs over the downstairs lanai. Thete are heat pump air-conditioning systems with AC, vent and heat units in each bedroom, the downstairs family room, and a larger unit for the upstairs living room, kitchen, and dining area. The swimming pools are close by walking distance with 5 pools available along with tennis and pickle ball courts. There's a courtesy transport for guests to use to and from the 2-story parking garage. The staff is especially courteous and helpful, and it seems like they go out of their way to please the owners and guests. We have both Wyndham and WorldMark timeshares with leftover unused points readily transferred to RCI, providing an even more encompassing resorts to utilize worldwide.

Arrived late to check in for my stay and still had to wait for my room to be prepared. The clerk at the front desk informed us that it was about a “30 second walk” to our room. I don’t know what Olympic sprinter they base their estimates on but unless you’re one of the fastest people in the world the walk was easily closer to 30 minutes. When finally getting to our room and getting settled in, the kitchen and living room furniture is outdated and looked like it retired before my grandparents have. But atleast they have 3 bathrooms. Despite being a shorter guy myself I still found myself bending over to turn on the bathroom sink. Mildly annoying but nothing compared to what was coming next. After a night enjoying the island, we got home to shower and there was a HUGE roach that got there before us. Took about 5 solid hits and still wasn’t sure if it was even dead. I think it just let me win. Woke up the next morning to AGAIN see another roach, this one the size of a small child, crawling on the kitchen counter as we were about to eat breakfast. Swatted it with my shoe and Mr. Roach FLEW across the kitchen before landing on its back and then running under the stove. Not only are these roaches enormous and disgusting, they can also fly. They are immune to dying despite any amount of force you might take upon them. Safe to say I lost my appetite. You would think the critters were the unwanted guests but in this case it felt like the complete opposite. As if we were in the roaches house and in its way of enjoying its luxurious lifestyle. Every night we came home we thought Mr. Roach would greet us again in the kitchen. Despite taking the proper precautions set up by the resort to keep away critters they still found a way into our home. They told us that pest control goes around regularly but have not seen them once during our 7 day stay. Let’s not forget about the ants. Breakfast? Ants. Lunch? Ants. Midnight snack? Surprise centipede. Saw the centipede crawling on the floor and before coming back with a shoe we see it casually crawl right through the crack in the corner of the front door and make its way outside. On one of our last days we were also greeted by another roach (this one normal sized) sitting on one of the twin beds in the bedroom. Stomped on it with my shoe and when I picked it up… nothing. It vanished. It was not on the bed, it was not on my shoe, just gone, as if I hallucinated the whole situation. I never thought I would want to leave Hawaii faster than in that moment. Every night in that room I wondered if I would wake up next to an unwanted roommate. I developed a full nightly perimeter sweep routine, checking under beds and behind closed doors. It felt like torture knowing that at any second a roach might run across my room and hop into bed with me. And yet…the resort proudly boasted about its brand new pickleball courts. Beautiful island but if you want a nice relaxing evening after a long day, do not stay...

We stayed at Mauna Loa at the end of November 2021. At first, I thought it was a beautiful resort but the longer we stayed, the more issues we saw. The suite was spacious, nicely decorated and had direct access to the pool and hot tub, which was nice! We had only been checked in for about 1.5 days before we had a massive fruit fly problem, we didn't leave anything out except for a closed cereal box and still, these bugs were EVERYWHERE in the kitchen. We called the front desk and they scheduled maintenance for 7 am the next day. We waited for 30 minutes before leaving to enjoy our day. The maintenance person ended up coming by at 8:30 am and did nothing because they didn't see any bugs. When we got home in the afternoon, there were at least still 20-30 bugs crawling around (I have video and pictures of what it looked like throughout the week). I understand that it's summer and there will be more bugs in warm weather but this was insane and really gross. We didn't leave any dishes out so I don't understand where they all came from. These bugs were crawling out of outlets and out of the sink for the entire week we were there, despite the fact that we thoroughly cleaned the kitchen and avoided cooking there for the entire week (even after wasting money on groceries). Unfortunately, we cannot post videos on this review so here are some pictures of fruit fly issue. Similar to other reviews, the pools and hot tubs desperately needed some skimming. I went to another pool on the resort and it was dirtier than the one near us- so they must not be maintained on similar or regular schedules. This resort seems nice on the outside and most of the staff was nice, but it clearly needs...

The resort itself is villa style and very beautiful. Lots of gorgeous vegetation all around the resort. The resort is very clean and the areas well taken care of. The room was nice and spacious and had a full kitchen. There are tennis and pickle ball courts but you can only use them if you brought your own equipment which is quite crazy considering you’re on vacation. It is definitely a place you want to get a car rental for. There is a free shuttle that you can take to the town centre from Longs Drugstore but you do have to do a 15 min walk up hill to catch it. You can’t go very far with it. Most of the resort staff including maintenance were very friendly and nice. The front desk staff were helpful and kind. The reason for the 3 star rating was the activities rep. She was very rude and not helpful in any manner. She first refused to help us saying my moms name was not on the account. We then contacted our timeshare company and they ensured us it was. She is the only activities rep and is off on weekends. So we had to wait two days to inquire again. We went back on Monday and she refused to help us again or even allow us to go to a timeshare presentation as my dad (mom’s husband) was not present. She said my mom needed my dads permission to book anything including activities. She refused to book anything or give any information as my dad physically wasn’t here. This is the first time we have ever experienced this at any resort. She also denied me the opportunity to go to the timeshare presentation on my own being a single woman saying I didn’t qualify but couldn’t tell me why. It was a very sexist experience and really spoiled some...
