We spent five days at Captains Walk in unit 483 the week of August 17, 2020. We very much enjoyed being on the ocean and the close proximity to the beach. The beach was not crowded and was very big. A service on the beach will provide umbrellas and chairs for a fee. The unit size and layout was good for just being my wife and I. The balcony was large and was a very relaxing spot to enjoy the ocean. It could use some more comfortable furniture.||||However, we had many inexcusable problems with lack of repairs and disgusting lack of cleaning which required a day and a half of my time working with the management company, VACASA, to fix them. But there were too many unfamiliar people entering and leaving the condo and we finally said enough possible exposure to Covid-19 and time spent trying to get everything fixed. We wanted to just enjoy the rest of our vacation because when you spend a lot of money to rent a condo it should not need repairs. Our issues were:||||1 - brush to clean toilet in master bathroom had been used prior to our arrival to clean up the toilet and was not cleaned. It was revolting and almost made us vomit!||||2 - The light/fan in the 2nd bathroom did not work at all. After sending a repair company to check it out, they said it was not even hooked up to electricity and they would need to call in an electrician!||||3 - The ice maker in the fridge did not work. They called in a repair company and told me it was not even hooked up. So they hooked it up and it made 6 ice cubes in one day. We called again and the repair person came back and informed us that the reason it was not hooked up is because there was a leak in the past. Looking at reviews, a leak was reported back in 2019. I don't know if it was not working for that long but certainly, it should have been checked between guests and fixed before our arrival. *To VACASA's credit, they did bring us a bag of ice which helped.||||4 - The WiFi in the master bedroom did not work. VACASA came and spent time in our bedroom with the cable company and got it fixed. However, we discovered that when they did that, they cut off the cable to the bedroom so we could not use the TV. VACASA had to come back and get the cable company on the phone and they could not fix it without sending a technician. They did that the next day and fixed it.||||5 - We discovered an active hornet's nest right outside our entrance door.||||6 - The shower in the master bath was very large with several water jets to enjoy. However, when the jets on the wall were turned on it ended up flooding the floors outside the glass enclosure because of a large gap in its design.||||7 - In our initial documents provided upon check in, we were given the wrong code to the beach gate. It took us an hour of talking with VACASA to get the code which they never did and we had to get it from a fellow guest!||||I will also point out there was no hair dryer. We were told that some units have them and some don't so if you rent this condo, you may need to bring your own.||||I will point out that once I contacted VACASA about the issues they were very responsive but some of the problems were too much to overcome.||||Upon our return, I sent in the survey VACASA sent us noting all the problems and we never heard from VACASA. That and everything else was inexcusable. I must add that we saw this unit on several different vacation home company websites and I guess it is possible that a different management company was involved but I doubt it. Read moreCaptain's Walk is an early condo development in the Palmetto Dunes Resort; thus the quality of rental units is a mixed bag of older properties with little or no rehab and units recently reconditioned and redecorated. The unit my wife and I rented falls into the latter category, 441 Captain's Walk, third floor end unit in the middle building with a close and straight on view of the ocean. The Owners are very approachable and accommodating; the management company is responsive and keeps the newly refurbished property in excellent condition. ||We have mixed experience with rental unit on Hilton Head Island (HHI) but this is one of the best. The accommodations are very comfortable, modern baths, quality bedding and linens and attractive furnishings in the living area. Top on my list, however is the kitchen. Nice size and fully fully equipped, not only for the chef but for the table. Full sized French-door refrigerator with bottom pull-out freezer; smooth top electric range, microwave oven and fully functioning dishwasher. Standard 12 cup and Keurig coffee makers, just to mention a few of the amenities in the kitchen. ||This is a three bedroom unit meaning three parking passes come with the rental. Captain's Walk is inside the gated area of Palmetto Dunes Resort, next door to the Hilton Ocean side Resort and the Beach area of the Hilton Head Disney Resort. ||Finally but certainly not least, Captain's Walk is convenient to the Shelter Cove Towne Center with an excellent Krogers and the not to be missed HHI Social Bakery with authentic French croissants. ||This unit is normally...
Read more425 Captains Walk is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is brand new , spotless , clean and of good quality and comfortable mattresses. Top floor view of the beach, ocean and side view of the pool are all amazing!!! Of all the years we have traveled to Hilton Head this is by far the nicest view and unit we have stayed at. Used the TV's to watch our Netflix account, played the board games and puzzles all was a lot of fun. Very nice high ceilings with bright lights. We recommend you look at their 360 degree photos on hhoceanfront.com, this gave us the feeling of home. Highly recommended. We will make our way back, will book again. Amazing owner Owner was responsive during the booking process and was welcoming in the communication.
