It was basic but we found it to be bland for our tastes. I had the fish tacos. They weren't bad, but I have had much better. They were bland without the salsa in them. They were large and the fish had a decent seasoning. No lemon or lime on the fish and fish was overcooked. No cilantro either. Guacamole was very similar. It was ok, chunky which I like, but not cilantro or lime. In general, I feel like their ingredients were things I could easily buy at the store, but I could find better. My wife had the chicken sandwich, and that was our favorite item. One of my boys had the burger and said that was comparable to BW3, which for him was good. Service and view was very good. Umbrellas are large enough to provide plenty of shade and you can see the ocean. The server was very attentive to our needs and everything was made quickly, even though they were packed. The food was NOT bad, but I also wouldn't say it was GREAT. Overall, we were happy with our experience here. Drinks were good, but expensive. Kids loved their lemonade, which was pretty sweet, but it was really good. Nice option of frozen adult drinks which tasted greater on a hot afternoon. Located right off a public beach. We were happy to experience it once, but we will look for other places in the future. It was very close to where we were staying, so it met our needs! Average food, good...
Read moreInitially, me and my friends and family, a party of 10, visited The Dunes House because an Uber driver recommended it as one of the best restaurants in the Hilton Head area; however we were extremely disappointed. The restaurant claims its fish tacos are their specialty and at $13 an order, we considered it reasonable for seafood and ordered. The wait was over an hour, and when it arrived was cold. The entire taco seemed like something any elementary schooler could have made at home: beans, lettuce, and a piece of fish in a small flour tortilla with chipotle aoili. The side of chips that came with the meal were flavorless and stale, perfectly matching the salsa. When we asked our waiter about the food, she simply stated: "Oh it shouldn't be like that", but failed to investigate further. We hypothesize that her lack of helpfulness stemmed from the mandatory service fee from a large party. Oh and also don't drink the water; it seems and tastes murky. The smoothies were decent, however and the...
Read moreOk. Here goes! I'm down here with my friend who's in meetings all day, So I decided to go somewhere different for lunch. Ended up at the Dunes House. Server comes over and I order an iced tea and the fish tacos with shrimp instead of mahi. They were really good! Service was quick. Wasn't going to order a margarita but hey, I'm at the beeeeeaaach! So I asked the server (Beth) whether the margs we're sweet or sour and limy. She said they were a good combo so I decided to try one. I've only been able to get really sweet margaritas since I've been at Hilton Head. I don't like sweet margs so I was leary. She made my marg from scratch. I asked for a couple extra limes since I really like my margs limy, but no go because of covid. She asked if I wanted a little extra lime juice and I said sure, just a splash. It was the BEST margarita. Had to have a second one! Beth was a very friendly and efficient server and makes a fab merge! Great experience! BTW....give that...
