My sister, my 2 yo son & my 6 mo old daughter & myself all arrived late Friday evening. Rushed to bed to be woken up by at crying toddler due to ant bites on his head and legs. My sister & I also had several bites. When we left for the day Saturday morning. We informed the young lady at the desk. I don’t recall her name but She apologized what seem to be sincerely, asked to see in the room. Even killed an ant on the counter. She said that it would be handled, at minimum the room would be deeply cleaned at the most she would find us another room. She said she would call me and keep me informed. She even verified my phone number. I felt great about it being handled. We returned to the hotel around 9 Saturday night to a room that hadn’t been touched and no phone call for any type of update thru out the day. I went to the front desk spoke with two ladies who had no idea about any of this, they seemed floored by the lack of communication. One was notating our account while the other found us a new room. We were moved to another room upstairs. We noticed ants in that room as well. When checking out on Sunday, I informed now the 4th young lady we’ve encountered at the front desk, she called Robin the AGM asked if he was aware of the situation due to her side of the conversation it’s safe to say he was aware but nothing had been done, i was given a email & told to email him that it went directly to his phone and he would be in touch, I sent that email at 1025 Sunday morning, I called the hotel after lunch because I was told he would possibly be in around checkout but he had stepped out per the young lady on the phone. I’ve called twice Sunday night both times left on hold for a prolonged amount of time. Its now Monday morning I’ve tried calling again & a young man answered and then placed me on hold for so long i had to hang up call back to see if i had been forgotten. He said that Robin was on the way to the front counter to take my call, I then waited 10 more minutes, I have yet to speak to anyone in management.
Typically I wouldn’t be concerned with ants were in the heat of summer, however my son has severe reaction to such bites. We spent a good part of our short vacation in a urgent care due to him having such a severe reaction. Its even worse today he will be going to his PCP for further care.
I’ve stayed at this location y’all many times & it’s been great every time.
Except this time.
The lack of communication between the front desk staff & Management completely ignoring such a problem is not beneficial to your hotel or any business . I would also I would highly suggest a pest company for the ants.
I’ll be contacting corporate and...
Read moreThis was my first time staying at any Country Inn & Suites and judging by the pictures online I was looking forward to it. I will start off by saying that the staff was friendly and some of the issues with my stay were out of their control due to a lack of transparency on the room conditions in the listings put up by the company who owns the hotel. Immediately upon entering my room I noticed a large stain on the carpet that was set in and had clearly been there a very long time. There were more small stains on the carpet in the bedroom area. I understand that carpet is difficult to keep up and over time these stains may have been something that just wouldn't come out. If the issues ended there it would have been fine. The furniture in the room was also heavily stained and worn. The bathroom was perhaps the worst part though. There were so many hairs that I don't see how my room could have been cleaned. For context I am a male with very short hair, as you can see from the photos in my review (which I have timestamped on my phone as only moments after checkin in) these hairs were from previous guests. There were multiple hairs on the floor, many stuck to the back side of the bathroom door, hair on the vanity top, pretty much everywhere in the bathroom. There were small spots and stains on the wall as well that looked like they could easily have been wiped off or cleaned, but had just been left there. There was a random tissue atop the vanity lights that had been left there by someone. It looked like perhaps some pink or reddish mold was growing along the side of the shower. The door hinge was also rusty and the exposed pipes from the sink on the vanity were also rough looking. I can excuse worn furniture, but cleanliness is the most important thing to me when staying at a hotel and my room was definitely not clean. The bed was mostly clean though aside from a hair or two on the bedsheets. The bed itself was not very comfortable, though I know some people prefer a firm mattress and may not mind it hardness. I only slept about an hour and left very early in the morning. I chose not to stay for the breakfast as I often use the cleanliness of the room as an indication of how the kitchen or behind the scenes areas may be at a hotel. I really wanted to like this hotel as it is affordable and I like that it is out of the hustle and bustle of the Roanoke city center, it is off to itself about 15 minutes from most things. However, I feel the online listings are misleading as to the room condition, and worn grungy furniture aside a lot could be done about how clean...
Read moreNot impressed at all. I've stayed in other Country Inn's. Usually solid 2.5 star hotels. This location is a budget stay at a 3 star price. From the front door, to your room, surfaces are plastered with snide notes to guests listing rules and reminders of consequences for breaking them. The front door lists locations they will not accept guests from. I think it was a 150 mile exclusion zone around Roanoke. Apparently since there are several colleges and universities inside that area that are in locales where alcohol is prohibited, the Roanoke Country Inn has had a lot of trouble in the past with students checking in to party and causing disturbances. I'm sympathetic to their plight. However, I paid $800 for 2 rooms and was made to feel like I might start throwing furniture out the window at any moment. I'm in my 50's and was there with my family. So, there was no confusion whether I might be a student who sneaked in.
The hotel is clean, the beds have nice linens, but, like many many hotels, the mattresses felt like a sheet thrown over a folded blanket. I've asked, and not many people have told me that they like a super firm mattress, but that's what most hotels, regardless of price, provide. The breakfast was adequate but served in a large fluorescent lit room very reminiscent of a high school cafeteria.
Maybe a result of the labor crunch, but the desk staff was not what you would normally expect in a mid-level hotel. Not rude, but... unconcerned? Something like that. And dressed very casually (graphic tee shirts and jeans). A minor, but surprisingly irritating detail, we stayed 2 nights, we had to have our keycards reactivated 4 times. They stopped working at midnight twice. And once in mid-morning, and once as we were loading to leave!
Our group had a total of 7 rooms for 2 nights. To the tune of close to $4500. Even the suites were too small to comfortably fit the entire group. The hotel has at least 2 meeting rooms and a conference room. We asked if we could use one of the meeting rooms. "Not possible." So we went outside on an 88° degree, high humidity afternoon. And received about 300 mosquitoe bites as a group, once the evening wore on to night. Not one of the meeting rooms we passed every time we went to or from our rooms were used by anyone over our stay.
Need a place to sleep for the night? It's clean and reasonably well maintained. But guest services are nonexistent and you're treated with suspicion, so you can find a more comfortable bed much cheaper at a- just as clean- Day's or Super 8. For a reunion, business, or get away stay,...
