The person checking us in dis not seem to know the layout of the rooms. I asked for directions as to where we should park to enter since it was dark and rainy. He said just a few feet down and there are entrances on either end of the buildings. So we entered building 2, and our room was in building 4. That would have been some part of what I was asking for directions for, but after walking thru 3 buildings we did find our room. The walls are a bit thin. The tub had to be cleaned before we could use it. The soaker tub was very nice. The second day, Saturday, there were close to 20 chairs in the hallway stacked right outside our room. They were cleaning the upholstery for nearly 5 hours with 2 upholstery cleaning machines. They were loud and seemed rather obnoxious. I was very surprised they brought chairs to the second floor so far away from the main building and almost the end of the four building complex, and shocked they were doing the cleaning right outside of two occupied rooms. (Remember thethin walls) The view of the beach and Kachemak Bay was amazing and the thin walls and long sounds from the hallway work drop just a single star.

Stayed here on business. First stay was in the original part of the hotel, where the room was small, but cozy and well done. It had everything I needed. Close to the office, restaurant, pool, etc. Second stay was in the newer part of the hotel, and while the rooms were larger and more modern, it felt disconnected and lacked the same cottage atmosphere compared to the older rooms. Minifridge and Microwave in every room. The views are fantastic from all the rooms, but it's worth noting that the older rooms are more protected from wave noise and howling winds blowing in from the Southwest if that sort of thing bothers you. I'd stay here again for sure. For the most part, the staff were very friendly, although one guy at the desk went a bit heavy on the interrogation when I wanted more coffee packets since the rooms aren't serviced daily.

This is a very warm place, even in December! All the decorations seem to be themed after Homer and its history. The rooms that face the bay are called, “port” and the others are, “starboard”, and when I checked into my room, it felt like a luxury cruise state room or captain’s quarters. Heidi was very pleasant over the phone and Stella was very welcoming when I arrived. The restaurant, the State Room, has a view of the bay and mountains opposite. They have excellent breakfast options and I really enjoyed my biscuits and gravy! I get the feeling that the staff and management genuinely care about people and want their guests to have the best possible experience during their stay. Highly recommend!

Let’s start with the positives before providing the constructive feedback. The view from the end of the spit is amazing. My family and I enjoyed just looking out over the water and my kids fished right from the beach for hours.

As for the hotel itself, it left a ton to be desired. The physical structure is ok but a bit dated. As several others have mentioned, there is no central AC. We had a two room suite with one of the rooms being interior. That room was constantly hot, so much so that we would prop the door open to the hallway to cool it off. Additionally, the bathroom had no fan, which caused the bathroom to become very humid. With no airflow, it stayed humid our whole stay. Between the humidity and the heat of our room, the interior room was uncomfortable.

In addition to the physical condition of the hotel, the COVID protocol creates some issues too. The worst is that the hotel provides no room cleaning at all during your stay. This might not be much of an issue if you are only staying a night, but we stayed 5 nights. So, just be prepared to empty your own trash cans and to go to the front desk for toilet paper our fresh towels. To fully appreciate just how little service you will receive, one of the young children traveling with our party had an accident in their bed. We reported this to the front desk at 7:30 am before a hike. When we returned six hours later, the room and bed were just as we left it. We then went to the front desk, and they simply informed us that they did no intra-stay cleaning. They did give us a set of clean sheets though to put on the bed (literally handing me the sheets)…

COVID protocol for the pool and hot tub is also interesting. Time slots are 30 minutes long, however reservations are only provided on the hour. I guess this is to provide time between guests to clean, but we never saw staff in the pool area during our 5-night stay. So, this process only ensures limited use of the amenities.

With all that said, the bar is fantastic and the bartenders did their best to make a wonderful drink. Their service and libations were the only bright point of our stay as service was concerned. The restaurant was only running at about 30-50% capacity and required reservations made beforehand.

In summary: can’t beat the view overall hotel service is non-existent while worth a visit, limit your stay to 1-2 nights.

Regarding Homer in general, reservations are hard to get. I would highly recommend planning your visit ahead of time and making reservations...

Bitterly disappointed and hurt. We truly enjoyed it when we first came in February 2020 and hoped to make many more reservations in the future. Michael at the front desk was wonderful and he was the same one we made reservations with again for this most recent trip (we requested the same room we stayed in on the previous trip and confirmed the room number. We were assured that the requested room would be set aside for us). On this most recent trip, we stayed double the amount of days in addition to bringing my parents who were visiting from Florida. Upon arrival, there was a young woman, Devin, at the front desk who we had never seen before. She literally lied to our faces about everything. She lied about the room availability (saying that there was no note made by Michael, when my parents literally saw her rip up a note with our names and requested room number on it), she lied about the Michael being new, and she lied about the rooms, claiming that all of the rooms on the same level were the same, when I requested a room with 3 windows (trust me, there is a big difference). She then said only 1 room in Midship Bay that has the 3 windows and furniture. This was another lie. There are at least 2 other rooms like our original request. The rest of the rooms have 2 windows with different and sometimes cheaper furniture. Our room also had 20 plus flies crawling around on the ceiling, bathroom and windows. When we called they sent a maintenance man with a fly swatter (which we appreciated) and told us that the flies were normal for this time of year.

They did try to sneak in a 10 percent discount without disclosing why (we were not made aware of the discount) but when my husband repeatedly spoke to them regarding the room, they claimed to have added another 10 percent discount. We will just have to wait and see if they were being truthful about this now. I believe they are since it was another woman, Heidi, who took over.

We may or may not try again on another trip (because it is beautiful here and I really like this hotel) but I truly hope that they make sure the entire staff is on the same page with regards to honesty and integrity. I would not have been so upset if they just told us the truth about the mistake on our requested room and...

My family and I stayed in lodge #711. We also dined in the restaraunt. It was a very memorable weekend. The living quarters we stayed in were absolutely luxurious and beautiful. My family and I were able to relax and be carefree and comfortable as can be. The staff at the restaraunt were very personable and friendly to us, and we received great service. The food was good, and our bill wasn't as expensive as I anticipated it would be. 6 of us ate well, with appetizers, for $200.and the winter rate for the lodge was very reasonable. We want to come back as soon as possible, because this was one of the greatest times of our lives, I'm serious! At dinner we met a man who was in charge of the pool area, and maintenance, I believe. He made sure we understood that if he could do anything to make our stay more enjoyable, he would do his best to accommodate us! Well, after having a baby and consequently having to rise at around 6 every morning since, I was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to be able to sleep in for once in my life. And , after that, since it was my vacation, I also wished to prepare breakfast, bathe, and pack our things without having to feel rushed. The check in time is 4pm, and check out time is 11am- hardly enough time to feed, bathe, and pack up my family, unless I set my alarm for 6am, ON MY VACATION. Not fair!!!! Making a late checkout at noon still wasn't enoig time, I felt. One of my family members jokingly told the helpful maintenance man that it would be nice if we could have a later check out, and to my surprise- he said he would make it happen, and the front desk we spoke to honored that! That few extra hours made all the difference, and we were able to leisurely get ready, and even had time to stroll on the beach, which truly made our vacation feel like a vacation should feel. I am eternally grateful to the staff at Lands End for accommodating us, it was worth every penny and I will never forget how special that weekend was. I have already told my friends that they absolutely must check this place out, it is MARVELOUS. 5 stars...
