Hugo Inn — Hotel in Hugo

Casey, Tricia & Jason were all personable very professional and accommodating. They are updating and remodeling this older small 12 unit motel and doing a fantastic job. The new heating & cooling system works better than 4star major hotel/motel chains. Their bathroom & bed linens are clean, fresh & soft. Our room/Unit 11 was clean, well decorated had everything we needed (mini fridge, microwave TV) plus everything was working & functioning without flaws. The room was comfortable and quiet. A key pad safety lock system like we have @ home was a nice touch, we felt safe there. There’s a relaxing, groomed tree-shaded area with barbecue grills, tables, comfortable seating & a horseshoe pit. It’s a perfect place to sit & enjoy cool crisp mornings drinking coffee or watching beautiful Colorado sunsets. The only negative I can think of is, the bed was too soft for us, we personally prefer a firmer mattress. We spent 2 nights there & it beat the heck out of driving back & forth to Limon. I was very disappointed in this place. The room I was in had very clean surfaces (table, microwave, dresser). However the shower floor was disgusting (like chunks of stuff, hair) and it felt very warped and unstable/squishy. My room had older carpet, not the remodeled hardwood that is in most of the pictures. That's fine with me, just unexpected because it looked nothing like the marketing pictures. My toilet clogged in the middle of the night.

The WORST part, and the reason for my three stars, was the comforter had at least three (I didn't actively look for more) visible, quarter-sized spots that were brown and smeared. The sheets were navy so I was terrified of what I would have seen if they were white. The bed was also more like a cradle (HUGE divot in the middle with sloping sides) and I was glad it was just me so I could sleep in the middle. I can't imagine two people trying to balance on either side.

One of the comfiest places I've stayed ever. Stayed in a holiday inn & suits for over $400 for 2 nights & found this place for only $100 on the way home. Bed was mega comfty & showers were awesome. It was very homey feeling & didnt feel like a typical nasty motelm felt very clean, AC unit went from freezing to hot in an instant once we woke up & changed it, which was super awesome as well. Overall great experience & would definitley stay next time when I come for the Denver...
