We originally booked an ocean-view room for around $380, but when we arrived, the guy at the front desk tried to upsell us to a suite for an additional $250. He claimed the suite was "so much better" and that it normally goes for over $1500 per night. After checking later, we found out the suite is typically priced around $620, and it was a Thursday night when we stayed. I’m a AAA member and a Hyatt member, so I felt a bit scammed, especially when we were led to believe we were getting a huge deal when we were not. I couldn’t get my WiFi to work at the front desk so I couldn’t even fact check him til later when I hooked up to the WiFi. Also we were charged $540 extra not $250 extra. They are not upfront about the fees. We paid about $1000 for the one Thursdaynight with valet and all fees. I also didn’t appreciate how Emad after lying to us about the price of the suite tried to pressure me and say “well I could charge you $175 for the dog.” And my husband and I immediately reiterated it’s a service dog and I made it clear in the original booking that I would have my registered trained service dog with me. You can’t charge for a service dog. That’s ridiculous. It was like he was going to go down that loop if I didn’t choose the upgrade. ||||To make matters worse, the suite was disappointing. To say the least it was filthy. The pillows all need to be replaced and it seems out dated. There was popcorn on the floor, smudges all over the mirror and windows, and the windows themselves were filthy. My dog took me around and showed me where they left food and things everywhere as soon as we entered (I have celiac disease) It was more of a pool view and a parking lot view. The sheets didn’t even fit the mattress properly, and there wasn’t a mattress pad—just an exposed mattress at the foot of the bed. We did as for extra sheets and they did bring them to us quickly so we laid those out. We also had trouble with the food options, as the restaurant was limited.||||One of the reasons we chose this property was because of the advertised fire pits, but when we checked in, we made it clear to Emad we wanted to use a fire pit and he showed us where they were on the map and which ones we could use. Unfortunately, none of the fire pits were lit, and there was no staff around to help. It was a major letdown, especially since that was something we were really looking forward to. We paid resort fees to use them and didn’t get to. They shouldn’t list that as an amenity since it isn’t one. Also the whole place needs to be power washed it’s all dirty. ||||As for the suite, while we had a great view, it was incredibly noisy. You could hear all the traffic, including loud motorcycles, and the room smelled like bonfires from the fire pits at the beach. The whole experience felt more like a money grab than a relaxing getaway.||||Additionally, there was an event happening during our stay, which made it hard to enjoy the property. The guests from the event were crowding the pool areas, being loud, and making it difficult to relax. I didn’t use any of the pools or hot tubs but we were charged exorborent resort fees, which felt like a ripoff given that the property was completely taken over by an event and there weren’t any fire pits lit.||||We were really hoping to enjoy a peaceful stay, but unfortunately, this place didn’t live up to its promises. If don’t mind being around a bunch of party people and dirty oI would not recommend upgrading to a suite, nor would I recommend staying here at all. We won’t be returning.||||Please stay at the Del Coronado instead if you are looking for a beach resort. It’s much cheaper and way better also the food is better at the Del I wish we would have gone back to the Del….||||They just remodeled the Del and it’s really nice and the people I met there all live far away and go every year. I haven’t found a beach resort get away that’s better than the Del in Southern California. We also had a better time at the pink lady...
Read moreThis hotel ripped me off $1000 when I attended a conference. I alone, was sent to represent my company. When I reserved my room previously, I checked in. The desk clerk looked up my reservation in his system and proceeded to check me in and gave me my key. Unbeknownst to me, after the event I noticed that I was charged on my credit card for 2 rooms.Again, I traveled alone. When I challenged the charges the Hotel said I checked into the rooms and 2 card keys were activated. They said I was on camera entering my room of course it was rhe room I was given and not the other room which they could not provide the same video of me entering that room. This hotel gave my credit card company some BS story that I checked I to 2 rooms. That was an obvious lie. My thought is that the Hotel cleck might have charged me for another room and used it himself. I called security to let them know, but they never responded. So long story short, they screwed me out of $1000 for a room i never booked but they gave a key to somebody and charged my CC. As a result, this will cost this hotel dearly as we are pulling out of all future events there and also likly relocating to another hotel as me and my company were guest of the sponsor. We have 40 employees who attend this event and have several other companies who also felt that this hotels management and staff are not managing their people and fraud is not something the mgt is willing to investigate or bother with because they likly will not elevate such issues with their corporate leadership because they must fear some sort of retribution for allowing such fraud to go unchecked. I understand mistakes can be made but to pretend that I used 2 separate rooms to cover their asses is ridiculous. $1000 they charged me will be worth the h8gh possibility of canceling all telecom industry events hosted there in the future because the leadership in this industry stick together on such experiences and talk. Pulling our company out of the event for this fraudulent charge is all about principal and we can write off the charges. However, this pretentious leadeship at that location that cannot be bothered to simply make things right can keep their ill gained money and take it in the wallet to the tune of at least $90,000 from our company alone. Meh..
In their response, they did not mention that when I protested and asked for a credit, they came back and said they had me on video going into a room. Now they say they don't have cameras that would observe people going into their rooms from the corridor. So their manager and security lied to me in their original response. Now they said I had 2 bookings under different names? An obvious screwup on their part. Who was the OTHER name? Obviously, they need to credit my CC and stop this foolishness and be done with this. You have my email and contact and you need to settle this. With the emails I got in response, it's obvious that the hotel system or check in clerk made mistake as I traveled alone for my company and would not book 2 rooms. If it was a mistake somehow, then the proper thing to do is prorate the charge for a fee but not the entire visit. I even have an email from the hotel saying they gave two active card keys for the 2 rooms. Wouldn't it be simple to resolve this vs auto response with no remedy offered. Wouldn't it be proper to show me the other reservation and wrong spelling g of my name for the second...
Read moreThis Hyatt is amazing! I have stayed at many Hyatt's and this one is extra special! Here is why...the staff! Every time before I go to a hotel I call and ask to speak with someone in housekeeping or the front desk. Sometimes it is by phone, sometimes by email. From the first phone call I made to the last interaction I had there was 100 percent authentic and awesome. I need special accommodations and boy did they exceed my expectations. Not only were they able to accommodate my requests for my sensitivities; they also upgraded my room and gave me early check and late check out. I wasn't sure if I was going to extend my stay at the time I booked and I needed too. They made the process easy in extending my stay and allowing to stay in the same room, even during spring break! I was lucky the hotel wasn't as busy as it was when I left. But Devin and Luis in housekeeping are phenomenal. Adam in management is nice and helpful and Lexi at the front desk is super friendly and you can tell they care about the people that stay there. There was maintenance being done on the elevators that has a strong, potent odor and chemicals. They moved the date back for this for my stay! Then when I had extended they made sure to have all doors open to move the odor through for the guests. All I can say is good things about this resort! I will be back for sure! I gave the location one star less and that isn't the Hyatt's fault. It is because is located by some oil fracking up the street (far enough away), oil rigs in the far distance in the ocean. I have never stayed near oil fracking before and it just caught me off guard. It has nothing to do with the Hyatt themselves. They are across the street from the beach, they have their own bridge leading to it (they give you complimentary chairs if they are available). They are near restaurants too. The pools there are warm and so fun with the waterslides! In all, it was one of my favorite vacations. This place pays attention to details and cares about their guests. The restaurant in the hotel too is yummy and the staff is friendly. Also, the valet is awesome. If you are hesitant about staying here, don't be. It is seriously the BEST! If you have any questions about rooms or need accommodations for rooms reach out to Devin or Luis. They are so nice and helpful. If you end up staying here....
