Agave Seasons has quickly established itself as a standout destination for modern Mexican cuisine in Huntington Beach, earning high praise for its innovative approach to classic dishes and vibrant atmosphere. The food we chose was very fresh (all of it) and I would particularly recommend their seafood choices.
They are famous for their signature dishes like the flavorful shrimp tacos, perfectly seared scallops, and rich aguachile and the kitchen seems to be just as skilled at the seafood side of Mexican food as the beef tacos that other local restaurants might offer.
Authentic mexican food? I don't know, Mexico is a large country and I wouldn't really know what authentic would be, but I do know that the vegetables are all fresh and the protein choices go way beyond just your usual beef, chicken and shrimp.
The drinks menu is extensive and creative, particularly its selection of agave-based spirits and expertly crafted cocktails like the popular spicy margarita (which my wife had), and described as both refreshing and well-balanced.
The ambiance at Agave Seasons is another key element of its appeal. Lively, trendy, and beautifully decorated, making it a popular spot for both casual weeknight dinners and celebratory occasions. We were there when it was very quiet (perhaps 7 tables occupied. That was great for a quiet, intimate meal, but I believe that it can get very busy at other times and require table reservations The service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, with our server offering excellent recommendations from the menu that suited our cravings.
Prices are on the higher end for Mexican cuisine in the area, but easily justified by the superior quality of the food and the overall dining experience.

Read moreMy husband and I had randomly decided to have dinner here on a Friday night. We walked in at 6:30pm and only one table had someone seated at it. We were greeted right away and seated.
The restaurant is decorated nicely and has a large bar and huge outdoor patio area.
The food- you have to order and pay for chips. We ordered chips and guacamole, thinking it would also come with salsa. But the chips didn’t come with salsa, so we had to order and pay for salsa as well. The chips were stale and had no salt on them. The salsa didn’t taste great. The guacamole was just okay. I ordered a spicy margarita and it wasn’t good. It was very sweet and not spicy at all. I’m also not sure if there was any alcohol in it, it sure didn’t taste like it had any tequila in it. My husband and I ordered a meal for two people for $74. We were very underwhelmed. Each portion of meat had about 4 tiny pieces to share (4 shrimp, 4 pieces of beef, 4 small pieces of pork, some vegetables, beans and rice. None of it was worth the price of $74 and none of it tasted great. It came with tortillas also.
Service at Agave Seasons was good. We ordered our drinks and food quickly. We got everything in a timely manner. My only complaint about the service is I was taking my time with drinking my margarita because I didn’t like it very much and the server cleared it from the table before I had finished it.
After dining at Agave Seasons for our first time, my husband and I walked out extremely underwhelmed and unsatisfied wishing we had chosen elsewhere for our spur of the moment...
Read moreI've been to a lot of restaurants so I know what I like. This might sound harsh but it's the truth. Just ate here today and I was not impressed by the service or by the food. Immediately upon entering the host squeezed in front of me while I was viewing the menu in front of the entrance. This is extremely rude and he should have walked around us with a smile to say "high folks if you'll follow me this way" or something similar. This was a huge turn off and I normally would have left right there BUT we had been driving around a lot so we thought we would still give it a chance. It seems like maybe there was only one server so he was rushing everyone a group of people even left. I'm surprised by this since there is an airshow and it's a busy Sunday. We asked for a spoon multiple times and never got it. We told the host since he stopped by to drop a drink menu that we were ready to order and he mumbles "I'm not ur server so" and walks away. The tacos were dry flavorless and the salsa is awful. The plates should include lime and the server needs to communicate that he will be back with the rest of the order. We had to ask multiple times where the chips and salsa. I also ordered a lemonade and bleh it tastes like that cheap lemonade made from powder from when I was a kid. This place has premium prices but the service and food was far from premium. The menu is flavorless.
