This was by and large the worst experience we have ever had in a hotel. Truly felt like the experience would have been far more enjoyable staying in my vehicle than in these rooms. check in was fine, one of the attendants in the front was new but she was the nicest of the bunch, her coworker that was also on duty however, was rude, unapproachable, and honestly seemed a little hungover. I hate to sound clichĂ© but if I could truly give 0 stars I absolutely would. We booked 4 rooms, as there was a total of 9 of us, 1 of which was pregnant. check in went fine but when My partner and I go to our room we notice that the room not only smells quite dingy, old and wet, but that it is incredulously humid in the room. Temperatures in the area on these days were nearing the 100s, to paint a picture this room was rather insufferable but the AC was off, figuring it should be working, we powered it on, set the room to 60 degrees in order to cool it off. We leave the AC on and expect the room to be much more manageable by the time we return after we all left to go get dinner. What a MISTAKE this turned out to be, we get back and not only is our room not any better than when we first walked in, but now my brother in law reported that his room was having similar issues with the AC as well. My brother in law shared his room with his pregnant wife and as the night went on they became more and more distressed at the heat. They attempted to call down to the front desk to address these concerns and to our surprise? The phones were not operational. Thankfully there were no emergencies as this would likely be a more pressing matter. We had to go down SEVERAL times, as if once isnât enough for these sorry excuses for customer service professionals. The front desk attendant at night was helpful, offering to comp the night as it was late and maintenance was no longer on site. He begrudgingly accepts as there is no other option as all the other rooms are supposedly âbookedâ. As if to make matters worse, at almost 2am they hear knocking on their door and itâs someone from the hotel stating they were able to find a suite, how surprising that they were able to find a room on such short notice as opposed to giving someone their hard earned money back. In our own room experience, the AC still was not functional, the following day on our 4 day/3 night stay, I go down to address these problems to the front desk and am told that a maintenance worker will be up to inspect.within the hour the maintenance worker shows up, seems to reset the AC unit and says to give it 10 minutes and if itâs not working then to call down to the front desk and let them know. In a mistake, I gave it about 30 minutes and noticed no difference, go to try to call the front desk and surprisingly, our phone ALSO DOES NOT work. What a lovely experience up to this point, as if not inconvenient enough to have to deal with these temperatures outside, along with in our hotel room, I go back down to the front desk and am met with the worst customer service professional I have ever encountered. After addressing my concerns the only decent worker at this hotel, she tries to call maintenance, and has me wait to the side while he comes back. The other worker outright lies to my face and tells me maintenance went in there moments ago and fixed it and to give it 30 MORE minutes. I confirm with her that he just went right now and she respond rudely and tells me thatâs what sheâs trying to tell me, I go and check with my partner and she tells me that no one came by while I was downstairs. It was this moment that broke the camels back and certified this is the worst hotel in the area. We booked 4 rooms, and only 2 of them were functional. I would have loved to have seen any form of recompense as we only received 50% of what we were promised and paid for but that would be too much to ask for clearly. Do not stay here if you enjoy spending your...
Read moreDecided to stay here for a trip to DC because we drove a car up here from NC and didn't wanna pay extremely high fee for parking at hotels closer to DC. It takes approx 30 mins to DC area and Uber/lyft ride was around $15-$25 per trip which is not bad considering not having to pay parking fee everywhere in DC at minimum $15-$30 flat rate.
Hotel is right at the foot of a highway and a bridge to get to DC so it's really convenient although the entrance is a bit confusing at first.
If you have Hilton app everything is super easy. You can check in online and can also choose your own room (based on availability). We chose 722 which is a room facing the highway so if you lioe quieter room stay away from 722 side when you choose a room. I'm a light sleeper so I didn't get enough sleep because of the noise from highway. Check out can also be done via the app. I didn't have any interaction with the staff at all the whole trip.
I always prefer Hilton over Marriott on my trips and the room is up to Hilton standards which is better than Marriott. They are clean and spacious. They just renovated the bathroom so it's super bright and more modern looking. The shower pressure is just right. I love their toiletries; shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, lotion, they all have good smell and of good quality especially the shampoo and conditioner.
There's no water in room only coffee available for you with a coffee maker. There's microwave and mini fridge. TV is pure cable no streaming service so bring your own Chromecast or entertainment. There's USB C on the cable strip on the desk and an outlet on the night stand lamp. There's no safe in the room.
Pillows are the worst on this trip. The down one get so flat when you sleep on it and the other one is clumpy and won't stay in shape.
The free breakfast was okay. They rotate the main menu daily the rest are all the same. Those are waffle, toasts, bagels, muffins, cereal, yogurt, coffee (they have light, dark, and decaf), chocolate milk, boiled eggs, oat. The main menu we got on Sunday morning was omelette and potatoes and on Monday was biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. They were a bit salty but tasted good. They also provide coffee and chocolate milk 24 hours next to the reception desk.
Parking is free and over the weekend is a bit full up front. The parking on the sode amd the back of hotel is a bit shady to be honest. We parked there to unload stuff and we see non hotel guests parked there to go fishing under the bridge which was also super dark. There were a couple of shady looking guys I believe were not hotel guests just parked and smoked outside the car for around 15 minutes when we sat in the car to plan where to go next. So my suggestion is to park in front of the hotel or find the spot where there's light and have security camera. I'm not saying hotel is in a bad area but I'm just super cautious.
For Tesla folks, there's no charger at the hotel but there's super...
Read moreAs a Hilton Honors Diamond member, when I visit ay area I like to stay at different properties within the Hilton portfolio. I travel a lot by train, and in Alexandria there are 4 such hotels near the station. However when I was planning this trip, those locations were very expensive so that brought me to this hotel along with a short Uber ride.||Said Uber ride took longer than it had to, because there was awful traffic getting to the hotel. It appeared that a backup on the Beltway had also backed up on US 1 in front of the hotel and 2 traffic lights leading up to it.||As I always do, I checked-in by the Hilton app the day before my arrival and chose my room. Upon arrival, I used my Digital Key and went right to the room on the key, bypassing the line at the front desk as Hilton promotes. It was then when I realized that the hotel had changed my room. When I choose a room it is for maximum quiet and the least traffic (inside and outside of the hotel). Thus I never would have chosen a room facing US 1 and the nearby Capital Beltway. I am fairly certain the room faced to the east, the opposite side from route 1. But it appeared to be an upgrade (notification of such would have been helpful before arrival), from a 2 Queen bed room to a studio suite with 2 queen beds, so I remained. And yes I was bothered by traffic noise especially in the evening and after the morning rush hour started.||Room numbers were confusing. I was on the 6th floor, but at some point the 6xx room numbers became 66XX room numbers. So even though my Digital Key said Room 630, the door said 6630. I am very sure I was not on the 66th floor!||Obviously with the apparent upgrade I had more than enough room for my belongings. Ample space in the bathroom and the sink counter for my toiletries. No issues with hot water. WiFi, TV, and temperature control all worked well. Sleep quality was OK once I did fall asleep.||In the morning, while the breakfast area is impressive, I ended up with only sausages. No scrambled eggs; there was some omelet instead that I didn't care for so early in the morning.||Check-out was done by app, so I never had any contact with the front desk during my stay. ||For a Hampton Inn, this was a pretty decent place, it's just that its position near two of the busiest highways in the area was a definite negative with regard to traffic and the noise heard in the otherwise...
