So I stayed here on business this past week.
The pros: staff was very nice and attentive to questions or needs. Room was nice and cool, plenty of towels / etc. Area was mostly quiet, so not a lot of noise through the night. A small movie theater is right next door, as well as a nice Mexican restaurant - both easily within walking distance of the hotel and each other.
The cons: breakfast was literally sausage patties, biscuits, and gravy. They had yogurt cups for one morning, then those were gone. No eggs, fruit, or anything resembling healthy. Coffee came from a machine that dispensed tea and hot water (not the issue) - the coffee was pretty weak. The pool was not cleaned daily and was even locked some days. The gym was under construction the entire time of my stay. Couldn't connect PS5 to the internet via wifi, as it required a browser to acknowledge their agreement (no network jacks in the room).
One lady let me know that they were being bought out by another entity, who was making some upgrades before rebranding them.
My $0.02: call and ask ahead of time about the things you are hoping for or looking forward to (pool, gym, breakfast). They could very well disappoint and you will have saved yourself some grief by choosing...
Read moreThis hotel had plenty of high reviews online so we booked for the weekend being that they had availability and all other hotels were booked for the same softball tournament that weekend. You could tell that the hotel had had recent updates, which I appreciate.. but our room was an huge issue. There was a wad of hair in the bathroom floor.. bugs on the floor.. the carpet was “damp” feeling and the smell of the room was very musty and congested. There was a dehumidifier outside our door, so we took it to plug into the room and the humidity in that room was 84%. We emptied the bucket three times during our stay. The hotel was fully booked, all other hotels were fully booked.. so we made do. This was a subpar experience to say the least, especially for almost a $300 stay. I do know they had a faucet leak a couple rooms down, and that could’ve been why it was so musty and smelly. Our tournament got cancelled Saturday, so we left and drove almost 4 hours to go home instead of spending another night. Room 138 was our room - I hope this review is taken seriously and issues can be taken care of for future hotel goers in hopes of more optimistic reviews...
Read moreThis hotel (Days Inn/Jasper, IN) was a great value for our family of 6. The hotel is neat and clean, with a crisp feel for being a lower-end chain. The inside decor is above average, and while the decor (tiling, furniture, etc.) isn't "modern" in style, it feels new. Service was excellent, with staff very responsive to our requests. Breakfast was limited (as are most hotels these days), but fresh pancakes were better than they typical "to-go" bag of a granola bar! We were pleasantly surprised with the room (a suite), since we thought the 3 queen beds listed included a pull-out couch. Not so! We had a very expansive 2-room set of 3 queen beds that was perfect for our family with 2 adults and 4 kids. The pool was a smaller salt pool, with a low 3 foot half and a 6-7 foot section in the deep end (no hot tub).
One note of location: The hotel is directly across from a county correctional center. Had we known this in advance, we may not have chosen it. However, I'm glad we did, because it was an...
