I am an IHG Spire Elite and had a free night that expired Sept 12 and decided to use it at your property Aug 24, 2019||||I selected your property because it says "airport" in the name.|| ||I must say there are several other IHG properties that were closer to the airport than your location and what makes it harder is when I called your hotel and got a girl on the phone I asked if the hotel was on the road between the Hilton and Embassey Suites and your employee said "I don't know""but we are next to the Comfort Inn." ||I then asked "you ARE affiliated with the IHG (Holiday Inn) group of hotels, right?"||She said "no we are not".||||Now I knew that not to be true but for a moment she had me second guessing myself.||Moral to this story: The staff member I spoke with did not seem to know a lot more than how to transfer a call or read a script. I think it would be extremely helpful for them to know your location and company history better, which groups you are affiliated with because these are common questions that will be asked again||||I liked the property because the rooms are somewhat larger than a normal hotel room. The beds slept very well and the pillows were to my liking.||||I also liked the fact that we could park and ride our vehicle until we got back from our trip however this is also where the "One Thing" that ruins a customer's view comes in||||Upon our return to Kansas City, we had been in Nassau Bahamas and was taking alternative flights in order to get out of the way of Hurricane Dorian before it hit, Our flight landed at 11pm and I got our bags and called your front desk person, the date was Aug 30, 2019 at 11:10pm||||This is where your employee coldly told me that you do not have a shuttle driver after 11pm. I am literally 10 minutes late and this person offered no suggestions of how to come get my car other than to walk, taxi, or hitchhike. Is this not something your staff should have mentioned when we were discussing the topic of park and ride?||||11pm is not a good time to be that frustrated with a 4 hour drive to home still in front of us||||So I made a phone call to the Holiday Inn and told them how badly your hotel had treated us and apologized for not staying at their property and promised the next time I would spend my money with them and not Candlewood.||Even though I did not stay at the Holiday Inn, they recognized I was a Spire Elite and that Holiday and Candlewood were both in the IHG group (something your staff needs to learn) and they sent their shuttle to pick me up and take me to the Candlewood to pick up my vehicle. I tipped the driver $20 for their kindness.||||I am so disappointed in your staff||||I have enjoyed staying at Candlewood's in Nashville and other cities but realized that management can make or break a property. ||While I don't know if I would ever stay with you again I wanted to give you enough to go by in order to find the employees that were on duty and retrain them to be better and to make the...
Read moreFor me this is the 3rd or 4th Candlewood Suites I have stayed at. These always CS properties always seem below the standards at Traditional Holiday Inns or Holiday Inn Express properties. This property like the other Candlewoods are run down, needs face lift in many areas. Carpets in common areas dirty, walls and halls in need paint and cleaning, not really a fresh and clean smell, more old and musty. Furnishings old, room still smelt of some heavily seasoned India or Thai food that had been cooked there. Smelt that way when I walked in and checking out in the morning. Room and hotel furnishings dated. Also asked for a quiet room away from the freeway which is maybe 50 yards from the North end of the building...it was still loud, not enough sound proofing in the room...if the A/C is off, you are hearing a lot of freeway noise. Staff somewhat friendly, commented to the maintenance guy about the Lat Bar on the weight machine needing to be replaced as the rubber hand grips were shredded, he said he would let management know, but not really feeling it was going to be addressed. Also the no complimentary breakfast in the morning is a negative for me...and most items in their courtesy store way over priced. The positives at this hotel: 1) Low price compared to other nearby hotels 2) Bed fairly comfy 3) Spacious Room 4) Pretty good Fitness Center 5) Free use of washing machines and dryers I would not visit this hotel again unless other Hilton or Marriott properties around the airport were sold out. Sub par for an...
Read moreWhen leaving a subpar review I always preface by saying I stay at hotels at least twice a week so I know what quality is. It’s not what i expected from an IHG property.... I appreciated getting to check in early but that was about it. After switching rooms two times I got a room that was decent for me to stay. I’m not for sure why the maid service would let the front desk assign rooms that weren’t ready to be stayed in.. The hotel room itself was OK. The shower curtain and the shower weren’t very clean. The sleeping area was clean though. And the bed was comfy. The front desk attendant sat behind a wall and didn’t know I was there, twice. A lady working elsewhere in the hotel had to get her for me, twice. Someone should always be at the front desk area or at least watching to see if a customer is there. I wasn’t offered anything for the waste of my time and inconvenience of getting two subpar rooms before I got a clean one. I wouldn’t stay here again when I’m in the area. The price was so cheap so I got...
