Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom — Restaurant in Kansas City

Craving Old Chicago and don't have one very close to me so I ordered to-go online about an hour before closing time. Told me to pick up at 9:47. I got there early and decided to have a seat at the bar thinking it wouldn't be ready yet and I'd watch TV while waiting.

The bartender turned around, rolled her eyes at me sitting down, and lifted her watch up to her face to make it obvious she was checking the time. Stared back at me again and then did the watch move a 2nd time so as to try and get me to get the hint that she wanted me to leave without having to speak. After the 2nd time she spoke up not to say hello, or ask if she could help me but instead said "we've already done last call". Translation... Leave.

When I told her I had a to-go order she said "what's the name". And those were the only words she ever said to me, a guest sitting at her bar. The manager went to get my order. She went to the other side of the bar and started texting or Facebooking on her cell phone. I had to get up and go to the host stand to get my order. The manager was very nice and went through it all to make sure I had everything but when I told him his bartender shouldn't act that way towards guests and never even said hello he kind of laughed and made an excuse about why she acted that way instead of just saying I'm sorry or I'll address it. A simple thanks for letting me know or we can do better would've sufficed. Definitely WILL NOT go back somewhere that an entitled and rude bartender made it so clear I am not wanted nor welcome. Too bad, because Old Chicago is one of my favorite places...

The food was good, but don't bother arriving close to 10pm! We got there before 10pm, our waiter Braulio took a while to return with drinks and take our food order. It was 10pm when it came time to order food and the waiter announced that it was too late to order from the main menu because that ends at 10pm. I had my phone on the table so I looked at the time and it was 10pm on the dot. I showed the waiter the time and he said it didn't matter, their computer would not let them put the order in! He said we could order off of the late night bar menu that starts at 10pm. We then had to decide (again) what to order so he left and returned to take our order. Our food arrived and was good, along with the drinks. At 10:30 the waiter returned to ask if we wanted another drink as the bar would stop taking drink orders at 10:30pm. We said we were good. The bar pizza was small like a kids pizza (but priced accordingly), so my friend and I decided we'd just order another one each. We got our waiter's attention and when we told him we wanted to order another pizza each, he said that was cut-off at 10:30pm! We said we would have ordered at 10:30 had we known that and that he had only mentioned the drinks would no longer be able to be ordered. He said he'd ask if he could get an exception. 10 minutes went by and he came back and said there was nothing he could do! Very frustrating experience, apparently the computers run the place and the humans have no say in...

It was hard to find this place. There was a sign on the highway but not on the other side. We ended backtracking. We had a group of five and we were sat at a dirty high top. There was food and crumbs stuck to the table. We put our drink order in and one beer got messed up but the person drank that kind anyway. We proceeded to put in our appetizers and they came back with the drinks. One person had a blonde/gray hair in her drink. The server brought her another one and that one was fine. We put our entire orders in and it was fine until a person from our group couldn't bite into the bread of her meatball sandwich and the meatballs were dry and burnt. Two people got the beer cheddar burgers and they were extremely greasy but oh so good. I think they need to do a better job at making sure it's not dripping with it. Our server wasn't on top of his job either. Drinks were empty and we sat there waiting for him to come back for to go boxes but didn't come in a timely fashion. From my serving experience this was unacceptable. We were only in town for the concert and stopped here due to the reviews as it was my first time ever eating at an Old Chicago franchise and in I will not be returning to this in location when I come back...
