We went to this specific hotel because after reading positive reviews, we thought it would be a good one.
Honestly, if you want a nice hotel, with a peaceful sleep, nice bathroom , and cleanliness all around, I DO not believe this this is the hotel for you. I always appreciate the reviews as they are a huge help. However, this time around, i don't know what happened. The reviews were opposite to what this hotel actually was like.
I've made a list of the pros and cons, and you can go through them and check them off. (We stayed in the Supreme double room)
Pros: Service is fantastic. From the time you go into the hotel to the time you leave, the hotel staff is always smiling. Very kind. At the resteraunt, even though they're very short staffed , the service was slow, but they constantly check on you and make you feel very welcomed into their resteraunt. Beautiful pool area. Even has an outside pool combined with the inside pool. There's a nice gym for people like me who love a good workout in the am. (Will speak more on this in the cons) Perfect location, in my opinion. You're not too far from anything. People reviewed and said you had to pay for parking. We were not charged, nor was there anything on paying for parking
Cons: The rooms look abused. Lampshade had holes in it. Bathtub paint is peeling. Toilet doesn't flush and the water after a shower takes a century to go down. Backboard of bed looks like it's ready to retire. Floors look like they were vacuumed in a rush with dirt left over. The AC barely worked which created a hot then cold room with no balance. It's a very busy hotel, look at the name. "Hilton Kansas city airport" . There's lots of people coming and going. At night there was a verbal fight down our hallway which made it nearly impossible to sleep. I know that's out of the control of the hotel but that's what I mean by a lot of people coming and going. Almost every night there was something going on. I'm not against drinking/alcoholic beverages. However, I do believe a hotel shouldn't supply alcohol on the premises just due to the chaos that can be caused by overconsumers. There is no free breakfast with this hotel. You have to pay for everything at the restaurant and it is not cheap. This is up to discussion though because even though it is expensive, it is really good food. An example, we ordered cheese cake. It was $9 for the skinniest slice you've ever seen. It could've fed a family of squirrels. But it was good. Steak is fantastic but we ended up paying over $130 just for 3 people. Gym is good but the people in the gym have bad etiquette. Not cleaning the machine after a sweaty session. Make sure you clean before use. Some of the equipment doesn't work. There was only two treadmills that actually worked compared to the 4 or 5 they have.
I could type more but I don't necessarily enjoy giving negative reviews. I hope this helps and honestly, its only my review of our 3 night stay. Perhaps after reading this you still want to go. I will say there are hotels cheaper and would possibly have better rooms. I know reviews can be misleading which can lead to a bad decision like what happened to us. So honestly, by the end of it, I won't be making reservations to this hotel again no matter what other...
Read moreI choose this hotel thinking it would be more on the luxury side considering what was around...it was a pretty lousy experience. I had to "live" here for 7 days on a business trip. The pool/hot tub was showcased online but upon staying it is closed and apparently has been closed for a while. They do not offer robes (it was like a joke when I asked). NO NETFLIX or smart tv capabilities once so ever other than their cable (which!!! I didn't know had more channels because there was no pamphlet or anything to let me know how to use the guide etc). Every time I called front desk the gentleman was annoyed and wanted me off the phone (I won't say his name but he was just a pinch of the problem). What really finally sent me over the edge was when I called to request a room cleaning. The policy said you would get a cleaning after 4 days. On my 4th I never got a cleaning upon my return. I requested one on the 5th day. Get this - I am a fairly neat and tidy/clean person so I put all my grocery and snacks in grocery bags. These bags had unopened chip/chocolate/misc snacks inside. I left them on the office desk alone with my wine bottle etc. When I returned it was gone. I called front desk and the gentleman I mentioned said what do you want me to do about it, they probably threw it away. I spent $101 Canadian dollars on my weeks grocery. More than half of that was in the bags. I was so rattled I demanded he call and ask housekeeping where he denied my request and said there's no point they threw it away and then wouldn't help me resolve my concern and left it as a "that's a your problem" issue. Anyway I wanted to be fair and nice but day after day it was just not what a Hilton would operate as. I'm a well traveled person and it was so disappointing. Also, no room service. One restaurant downstairs but the staff especially the bartender seemed dead inside. Also, ice machine was broken on my floor. So I had to go to a different floor but one day I went to the top floor (which btw had a great view and they stuck me to the ground almost even though we paid so much) and the top floor had black and brown contents in the ice (like all over and I don't want to accuse it of droppings but it was gross). Beds were comfortable. Bathroom needed a mood/dimmer light too and zero lotion in the dispenser (had to call for it to be filled). On the last day I asked for coffee to be brought up 2 times and never came...but that was least of my problems. Best thing was the shower. Shower was...

The Good:
-Service from the front desk staff to the bar staff (Tommy is an awesome bartender!) was great. -The room itself was clean and housekeeping made sure to do everything they could each day to keep it that way. -The pool was a very nice amenity for the teams. -The location is near KCI Airport so it's very convenient for flyers/air crews. -There's multiple large conference rooms available so it would be good for conferences/workshops, etc. -There's an onsite restaurant with menus available for lunch and dinner with standard bar food. -A breakfast buffet was available each morning. It was a standard breakfast (eggs, bacon/sausage, pancakes/french toast, bagels, fruit, coffee, yogurt, water, juices) so that was a great way to start the day.
The Bad:
-The HVAC in several of our group's rooms either did not blow cold air at all or very little. The thermostat on the wall did absolutely nothing. You can set them at 60/65/70/75 and nothing changed. Our room in particular had cold air blowing but very little. If anyone took a shower, the room got hot in a hurry. The HVAC vents in the hallway on each floor were blowing warm air. -Multiple rooms in our group's room block either had very loud noises making it hard to sleep, toilets that didn't flush, showers that didn't drain properly. -Traffic noise for rooms on the interstate side of the hotel was loud all throughout the night. This is to be understood to some extent. However, it felt like you were literally sleeping on the shoulder of the interstate. Windows/Walls had no soundproofing qualities. -The shower tub paint was peeling in multiple spots. -Self parking fees are charged each night through a private company you have to signup through a QR code instead of the hotel billing it to your room. -From the interstate exit, if you miss the first entrance, be prepared to cross craters in the concrete to get into the parking lot.
As a Hilton Honors Gold Member, I've stayed at many Hilton branded properties over the years. This hotel definitely is subpar and did not live up to the Hilton standards in my opinion. This hotel needs a full remodel as from what I've seen, it was built over 50 years ago. I would not plan to stay here again if in the area as there are multiple other hotels within walking distance with newer amenities for the same or cheaper...
