Restaurant has great potential, just underperforms. We did not look at reviews before going & wish we would have. There are many 1 stars for a reason. PLEASE read the other reviews before going here. TLDR: Not worth the money- prices too high, food was eh & service was less than eh.
There were 4 of us. We were not overly hungry & each couple split a pasta dish. Waitress warned us that portions were truly made for one person, which we were fine with, as none of us were overly hungry. However, with a $34 bowl of PASTA, there was no type of bread offered nor was there a salad -even to order as an add on with an entree (& we were not spending another $24 for a salad!). Mind you, there is house-made pizza on the menu, so breadsticks should be an option.
Pasta dishes (Bolognese and Penne w/vodka sauce) were warm at best when arriving, and as the waitress said, were a one-person meal (again, we were fine with that).
There was no follow up during the meal until we were almost finished & the one drink we asked for a refill on never arrived.
We are not sure if this was due to just the poor setup of the restaurant or if they are trying to create an “exclusive” high-end type of dining service. If they are trying to create a high end service, then they need to up their service.
Our waitress was decent, but she had ALL the tables (again, poor planning on Managements part). We were also not able to get the bill split up for the two couples (total order was 2 entrees - 1 for each couple- and two non-alcoholic drinks & 1 glass of wine- so easy to be split- but the best they could do was split the bill in half). My guess is the waitress did not have the time to do it. So if you’re looking to have the bill split you may want to make that known immediately when sitting down.
The best part about this place was the ambience & music. We really wanted to enjoy it so we could return but that will not happen. We understand that prices are high on the island, but few options & underperforming service is...
Read moreThe host greeted us as we wanted to get a to go order with the fact we’d have to pay a 20% gratuity for all to go orders. This is ridiculous since we would not be served and I have no problem with gratuity for folks who wait on me, but this is a to go order. I have to say to the owner this business pay your people fairly so customers don’t have to pay your employees When they’re not serving patrons. We wanted to listen to some music that was a few doors down from this business, but because they forced us to pay gratuity, we decided to sit down and eat because this gave us a choice whether or not to pay gratuity. The only part I can say was at least the They host was upfront about the charges rather than letting us get our to Go order and Then sharing that information. I will say the waitress did a really wonderful job and I think she looked to be the only one waiting on any of the customers as there was not many patrons there. I paid her a 20% tip. The food was a huge disappointment. I ordered a pizza because they seem to specialize in this, but I’ve had better pizzas at chain restaurants such as Mellow Mushroom for a lot less money. I have no problem paying for food if it’s well done, but the prices were high for the quality of food. I would sayI definitely pass this place by and we found some of the food trucks to be the best food on the island. Overall, I was disappointed in most of the restaurants in Kauai as they did not have any authentic Hawaiian food. I guess the demand from customers is for a westernized menu of food on the Island. We wanted to experience the culture, including their food, but it was...
Read moreI see lots of differen't reviews for B's Kitchen. Our personal experience was really great. Especially considering finding options later in evening can be a challenge in Kauai. We went to B's for our youngest birthday. We had short wait at about 7pm. Approximately 15 minutes. We had very nice server who explained menu and was on top of things all night. Overall I would honestly give B's a 4 but my dish took it to a 5. I ordered the daily catch special When you are that close to the source why eat anything but fresh fish. The Chef who I personally thanked for his creation prepared a Coconut Pineapple Curry Ono. I didn't grab a photo of it but I promise you it was outstanding and something I have been thinking about since I had it. It was a lightly seared piece of Ono(Wahoo) with a small ball of rice surrounded with a perfectly seasoned coconut curry. Little secret. It was a Thai Curry inspired creation. He let me in on the recipe but that is all I'm saying about it. My food was fantastic. Everyone else was very happy but ordered pretty basic. Margarita Pizza, Impossible Burger and a grilled cheese. I told our server it was our son's birthday and he was presented with a fantastic dessert that was quite tasty. Although I only got one bite. If you are someone that is only a "FOUR STAR AND UP" kinda person, give B's a chance. They may surprise you with your best meal of the week on the island. ...
