Crystal made check-in quick & smooth.||||Room #111 was very spacious with one comfortable king bed with four pillows, flanked with matching nights stands with lamps & one outlet. Writing desk & swivel chair. Carpet from room's door to sink counter. Three drawer chest, topped with a medium size flat screen. M/F. Medium size couch & coffee table. Solid wooden wooden luggage rack No closet yet a wall mounted shelf with eight wooden hangers & iron & board.||||The bed must be 30" in height. The best way to get aboard is to jump up backwards, this may sound crazy, however this worked the best.||||Bathroom.||Sink counter is wall to wall with large mirror. A tub/shower combo, with hot shower water in four seconds. Bottles of shampoo, lotion & conditioner. A travel packet for men/women shower cap. Tub has a rubber floor mat for stability. Hair dryer. Plenty of towels. I learned to hold the toilet handle down for 2 seconds for a strong flush. ||||Both bath & sleeping areas very clean. The only problem encountered was that the hair dryer would only work by continuously pushing the on button. Used my own dryer. Reported problem before breakfast. In the afternoon Kimberly checked to see if dryer could be just removed, which was not the case. Dryer was replaced during stay.||||Breakfast. Hours 6:00 -9:00.||Steamers for scrambled eggs & sausage patties. Two dry cereals, bowl for oranges & apples. Pasties were small spiral rolls, bagels & small muffins. Cooler for yogurt & cream cheese. Juices are cranberry, orange & apple plus cold water. One waffle maker. Skim & 2% milk. Regular & decaf coffee. Seating is round tables with three chairs each. One medium height child's chair. Not a great breakfast yet a good starter for the morning.||||Facility has NO ice, snack or soda machines, however sodas are available at the front desk for $1.00 each. Plenty of parking With #111 being on the first level , my vehicle was just six feet to unload & loads, much easier than walking down s long inside hallway. The afternoon of arriving-September 8-Kinston was 95 F , with room's A/C on with the result a very cool room. I want to thank the facility's owner for thinking about an in coming guest. The a/c unit has simple controls.||||Route 70-just 70 feet away- is fast &loud at all times of the hour. Would recommend a room in the back to quiet the traffic. This is a two story facility with NO elevator, would also recommend a lower level if carrying heavy luggage.||||This Quality Inn has outdoor swimming pool-closed for the season Oct 18- a fitness center & a guest laundry.||||Want to thank the following staff-Crystal for check-in, Kimberly for helping getting a new working hair dryer and Carol for checkout.During breakfast there was a young polite man at the front desk, was unable to learn his name. Would stay in the future and...
Read moreSame look and feel as other motels, but this motel offered a shoe shine cloth, Shower cap, second bar of soap and anti-slip bath mat that’s not normally offered at places I’ve stayed. The beds in room 114 look and feel newer. The mattress has a mattress cover then a mattress pad on top of that then the sheets and blankets. The sheets feel like 1800 thread count and are clean. The sink, the bath and the toilet look new or redone. I would definitely stay here again, but I am the kind of person that can completely ignore the noise from the highway just outside. There are semi’s or big trucks one after another that can be heard approaching and passing and some use the engine break. When the AC kicks on the noise from the road isn’t as noticeable. We arrived here at 10:15pm and I went to reserve the room. The gentleman working was really great. I was tired from driving 14 hours and he was very patient. Breakfast is small, but good for what it is. They offered yogurt, microwaveable breakfast sandwiches, muffins, fresh orange and apples, DIY fresh cooked waffles, packets of oatmeal, hot water, tea, coffee and juice. The manager came out to talk with me and explained that since Covid, hotels/ motels that offer breakfast are required to offer pre-packaged, or self made. Okay, so that being said the hair dryer was dirty, lipstick all over it and then the reason I give 4 stars, the door will not latch shut unless the deadbolt is locked to set the door latch in place. The extra security feature at the top of the door is MUCH better than a chain, so I felt safe, but the door needs to be fixed. Again, I would definitely stay here...
Read moreThe man working at night on 8/29 idiscriminated against a couple that tried to check in before me. They had a small service animal. First he told them that there were no animals allowed and they would absolutely not be allowed to stay. Then he asked them for registration for the service animal and what service it provided. He was told that he’s not allowed to ask for registration and he said that he only makes $10 an hour, this is not his hotel and his training a month ago told him that he’s allowed to ask that question. Then he told them that if they wanted to stay they had to have a $250 cash deposit. Obviously, they didn’t have $250 in cash. When the lady tried to discuss the issue with him, he was combative and argumentative. He called her a liar and yelled at her. Also refused to refund her money. He told her the refund would have to be processed at another time. The rooms weren’t nasty. They are what you expect from basic low budget rooms. There was a slight urine like odor in the room, hairs in the tub and on some of the towels. The bed linens were old and had stains. The carpet could definitely use replacing. The AC unit was filthy, covered in dust. My company booked me a night there because I had work in the area. The room was OK for that. But if I was staying for a personal stay in the area, it wouldn’t have been satisfactory.
Edit: they did not help them get into another hotel. The man that was working told her he could not refund her money. He said he had to wait for the night audit. He yelled at her. He called her a liar. Irregardless of the rudeness, it is illegal to ask for registration papers on a...
