I booked the room with the mindset of “you get what you pay for” because I only needed a place to sleep for the night. Overall, I felt like I overpaid for the bare minimum.
Pros: Location - Quick and easy stop right off the freeway. It seemed to be a quiet location even being so close to the freeway.
Beds/Linens - Clean with decent pillows (for being hotel pillows).
Breakfast- I won’t give breakfast the full stamp of approval as a “pro” but I’ve seen much worse when comparing it to the overall appearance of the hotel. The garbage can was VERY sticky and borderline goopy. It started at 6:30 and I was there by 6:45. Whatever was on it had been there for a while. The hot selection was enough, but there were only 5 pieces of white bread out as a side. No bagels, English muffins, biscuits, etc.
Cons: Safety - The side door that’s only accessible with a room key did seem to shut behind you which would make you assume when it closes it locks. However, the door needed to be pulled to latch and lock shut. Also, there was no kind of eyehole cover over the peephole. I was a solo, female traveler and safety (even the smallest detail) is huge when considering places to stay.
Overall upkeep - It’s in major need for updates and minor maintenance. The overall indoor appearance is dingy which makes it feel dirtier than I think it actually was. The stairwell didn’t smell of recent cigarette smoke, but like old musty cigarette smoke that someone’s been trying to get out of the carpets for years. Hallways were only slightly better, but there was a musty/BO/dingy smell to the hallway too.
I took my sandals off in the room and the carpet was grimy, but other than that the surfaces appeared clean.
The fridge on the coldest setting was luke warm upon arrival. I turned the temperature knob the opposite direction thinking that maybe the colder temps were the lower numbers and the fridge started feeling less cold after several minutes. I cranked the knob back to the original setting and it kicked on and eventually got colder than when I first arrived. It still didn’t get cold by normal mini fridge standards, but it did the job for 8 hours.
The outlet box that included the usb ports didn’t work. I tried to follow the cord to check if it was plugged in, but there were weirdly so many cords tucked back behind the nightstand and bed all tangled together and it was super dusty so I just didn’t even bother.
I didn’t even use the shower. I’m sure it was clean, but the shower head was old and had a ton of build up. There were also little black beard trimmed hairs in the sink as well and the sink handle was really hard to move.
Overall just a lot of areas of worn or chipped paint, banged up trim, and areas that don’t get touched often but seen were dusty. I was never emailed an invoice but I do have a random $6 charge that is still pending. The room wasn’t worth $90 but for checking in at 11:30 and leaving by 7:30 it...
Read moreFirst of all, let me say that my hotel/motel stay is basically limited to travel back and forth to Florida, so I’m just looking for a clean comfortable, good free internet, and reasonably priced room. Not interested in amenities that others might require. I drive 10 or 11 hours and just want to get out of the car and relax.||||I check in around 4:30 and Harold was very pleasant and helpful, I go up to my room 225 and the smell of smoke immediately hits me when I enter the room. I’m not a wallflower when it comes to cigarette smoke and thought maybe I booked a smoking room instead of my usual non-smoking. At the time, I didn’t notice the no smoking sign on the back of the door, but I remember an incident someone else had at the Saganing Casino in Michigan, where a lady was charged with room cleanup because they found cigarette butts in the trash can and she insisted they weren’t hers. I didn’t want someone to say that I smoked in the room, so I went downstairs and talked again to Harold. Once again, Harold was excellent and offered to make corrections, but I said that wasn’t necessary, so he just noted on a tablet of my concern.||||Back to the room and I was very pleased. The room was spacious, had the refrigerator, microwave ironing board and iron, hairdryer and anything else a person might need. I especially liked the hub with extra sockets and extra USB ports – there never seems to be enough plugs so I’ve been bringing my own power strip.||||Now it’s time to close the drapes and hit the hay, I can sleep during a thunderstorm, lights on, TV blasting without a problem, but when I wake up, which is usually after 2 or 3 hours, I need total darkness to get back to sleep. There comes my issue with the room. The drapes aren’t designed to close! This is the first motel ever, that didn’t have some sort of blackout curtains let along ones that closed. ||||So I’m up tossing and turning since 2:30 and decided to write my review. If it weren’t for the lack of curtains, it would be a 5-star review and definitely a place I would reserves again next year. The bed is comfortable, the walls seem thick and insulated, and I have yet to hear a door close or slam. There is a nice indoor pool and also an exercise room, not to mention the water pressure is great ||||I did talk to the front desk when leaving and asked if the rooms had curtains that closed other than the sheers. He (not Harold) said yes they all do and then I showed him my first picture and said this was my room at 2:30 am and he said you have to close the curtains. I said yes, that is what I thought, but as you can see in the second picture, the curtain rod doesn’t go the width of the window. “Oh, I’ll make a note of it.” I’m sure these notes end up in the circular file somewhere.||||If you are checking in and sensitive to parking lot lights lightening up your room, I suggest you add a sleep mask to your...
Read moreSTOP! Turn around and don't stay here. My husband and I stayed 1 night out of a 2 night paid reservation. The picture of the exterior is correct that it has covered parking at the entrance but it must be AI enhanced because it looks like a dump in real life. When we arrived the entry was dark n dreary. A man behind the counter greeted us. As he was checking us in another man appeared standing behind my husband. Then a 2nd man appeared behind the counter. I felt uncomfortable but continued to our room. That's where I should have stopped and turned around. The hallway is dark, no lights in the ceiling only dimly lit sconces. Musty smell. Elevator made you not want to touch the buttons. 2nd floor: orange light bulbs in the sconces which made the hallway even darker. I started to freak out a little & if it had been just me traveling I would have. I didn't feel safe because of the 3 male employees that kept appearing and now a dark , musty hallway. One of the rooms was open and it was full garbage, no bed so I guess it was used for storage. Our room stunk. It was old, outdated by 20 year's. Bathtub would not drain while taking a shower. Personally I slept in my clothes for fear of creepy crawlers or someone knocking on my door during the night. Neither occurred. We left as quick as we could the next morning. Never looked at the breakfast or had coffee. We went to the Waffle House across the street. I have never read reviews about a hotel before I make a reservation but trust me I will now. The negative reviews are true. The good reviews are questionable to me. Notice that some of the pictures have been removed from the negative...
