I am beyond horrified with this place. I booked a night to get away for the day with my dog. Upon my arrival we checked in and noticed a lot of people in the front hanging out. Got into my room and it smelled like a hospital. It had the weirdest smell, I turned on the air which wasn’t working to see if the smell would go away. I asked the staff how I could turn it on, they told me the air worked with the thermostat, I realized both the wall ac and thermostat was how you use the air. After I did that the smell wasn’t as bad but still there I tried to ignore my feelings because I was also bringing my dog and thought maybe this is their dog friendly room. So I was about to use the restroom when I noticed there was no tp, the roll was out I used tissues. Notice there was black hair in the tub on the toilet seats and on the toilet. I have blonde hair so it for sure was not mine. I later asked hotel staff to bring me tp which they gladly did. As I am sitting on the bed my dog is sniffing everything around, and randomly is eating tissues from under the bed. I am beyond grossed out, and throw them away. But next to my horror, he goes under the bed and finds the cap to a -syringe—— yes a syringe. I freaked out grabbed the syringe with a towel and was now scared about where a needle may be. I called the front desk asked them if I could change rooms. They did agree. I try to grab my things to do so and the front desk person was on the phone the whole time, and no where near apologetic that this incident has happened. He is just on the phone and hands me the new key. We switched rooms the next room all though was not as bad as the first was a little cleaner, but still had hair again in the restroom. When I woke up I wanted to take my dog for a walk around the property to use the restroom, where I was horrified to see in the bushes around where my dog was going to step was a glass pipe that was broken for some type of drugs, laying there. I expressed my concerns when checking out to the staff about the syringe and the state of the room. I mean it reeked in there (to the point where I was looking through cupboards to make sure nothing had died), told him about the syringe, about me arriving and it having all this hair, grease everywhere, and no tp. And the staffs response was that they just bought the hotel 4 days ago. although i don't know how true that is, and how hard it is to transition. But i do know that having a clean room should be the most important to health codes, and finding a syringe ( when i googled it) is taken very seriously by even law enforcement. It horrified me no one in this staff batted an eye lash that i found a syringe in my room. Where either I or my dog could have stepped on a needle. i have never stayed at a place were i literally felt like i can get a disease. Do not stay here unless you are homeless, that is basically how i felt for the night. I felt like I was quite literally a homeless person for the night. Thank God the second room was cleaner had it not been, and had it not been so late i would have left. Words can not express how horrified i am by the experience, the staff, the people outside, and the paraphernalia around this place. Do not stay here at all, until they fix this location. I have included a few photos from my night stay in this review so that everyone can...
Read moreIf you ask me the very first thought that comes into my head when thinking about Extended Stay America- La Mirada, it would be "so very basic." Ngl, the room was kind of a disappointment.
Location: It's in more of the "industrial" part of town. Surrounded by factories, office buildings and whatnot. If you're looking for a place to stay close to the central hub of things, this ain't it. That being said, the area felt safe. There's a great In-N-Out burger 2 minutes down the road which was fantastic.
Hotel: Clean lobby/hallways. Nice looking from the outside. Very depressing dim lighting in the hallways, though. Needs brighter lights.
Room: For a suite hotel, the rooms are no bigger than a regular hotel room. The "living room area" is just a large recliner in the corner of the room. The room was just very dim. Yellow walls, stark dark green wall, and very dim lights. Huge industrial looking light above the kitchenette which was bright, made it very easy to see while I cooked. Smelled like someone sprayed a pound of cocoa butter. A little overwhelming at first but quickly got used to it. Just thankful it didn't smell like cigs or anything like that. The top sheet was VERY stained. Almost looked like cigarette burns, those kind of little round stains. Sheets underneath weren't, thankfully, so it didn't bother me too much. Bathroom very clean.
Smells: See a lot of complains about the smell of cigarettes in these hotels. Inside the hotel is non-smoking, but once you leave the door you're allowed to smoke on the hotel grounds. Hallway did smell like cigarette smoke sometimes, but because I didn't smell it in my room, I was very happy.
NEGATIVES: Walking into my room after checking in: The desk was missing the rolling desk chair. Absolutely NOTHING in the kitchen. Completely bare.
Went to the lobby, front desk guy found the dinkiest little rolling office chair for me to use. He handed it to me and said "here you go" and walked away.
If you want to use the kitchen, basically you have to ask for each item you want to use individually. Forks, spoons, butter knives, pots, pans, plates, etc... I didn't even get cutting knives, a cutting board, spatula, cooking spoon, pot lids.
No oven. It's a kitchenette, but there's no oven. Just 2 hot plates built into the counter. No alarm clock on the nightstand, no blow drier in the bathroom.
I've never been in a situation where there was something forgotten in my hotel room, so I'm not sure if them not bringing these items to your room is standard, but the fact that I had to wheel and carry everything up there on my own surprised me. Luckily I didn't drop anything.
Despite lacking and disappointing in certain areas, the hotel isn't bad. I'd recommend it, but I'd also say if you can afford an extra $36/night and aren't constrained to a certain part of L.A/surrounding area, go book a room at the Marriot Towneplace Suites on Aviation Blvd. I stayed there 2 weeks prior to staying here, and if you read my other review on it, you'll see why this place was a bit of a...
Read moreAwesome customer service. The employees make this place a 7-Star Hotel. There are minute things that may not be great, but you get just about everything needed at for a stay and the friendly, "yes" attitude and solution resolving with a smile has sold me on always trying to stay at an Extended Stay America. Please do not change this culture, it's an A+ and enhances everything you have or don't have for the better.
Currently the 11th of December and that night of my review, our experience has been the feeling of my family and I being bamboozled. We originally called the online number to make reservation for a 2- bedroom at $88 per night and a better deal if we were going to stay week at a time because we have a ten year old and we were not sure if we needed a night or one or two weeks. When we arrived, the lady at the desk did not have our reservation in their system. After over one hour of figuring things out and talking with the original number, which is a call center, the call center transferred our reservation to the location. We did not received the two bedrooms, only a one bedroom for two adults and a ten year old. No one told us we could rent a fold out bed for what we over heard yesterday $10 per night. They knew and we've been requesting a two bedroom every morning and night and still received our small not quaint room for $120-160 per night. We have requested a better rate and adjustments to what we have paid directly to the General Manager Theresa Bessett and she with her bubbly and nice but deflecting and disregarding personality and attitude said she would work something out and would leave us without a word. Oh and when we found out 9 days into our stay there, we found out they provide dishes to cook with. When I brought that to Theresa's attention she implied I was blind and stupid for not seeing the one and I mean only ONE 6" by 4" paper display that was behind the card reader completely obstructed from view. I have been highly dissatisfied, disappointed, offended and just plain insulted by the thievery. We have only continued to stay here because they are pet friendly and our son loves it here however, he's not too hard to please God bless his heart. We have spent way more than intended and we are not happy. Reimbursement and a few extra nights would be nice considering we're about to embark on our cross country trip and we could stay at ESA or elsewhere. I can assure you, that if this is not resolved today, my family will never stay at your...
