We have stayed here several times when it was still under the Quality Inn brand. There are still items with the old brand in the rooms while mixed with the Motel 6 logos. The location is convenient and the ground floor with exterior doors works well for us with a dog. The bed was comfortable although the pillows were lacking (flat, limp, under-filled pillows). The room was clean and everything worked as expected. Beware that the online booking system and the actual room availability do not always match up - if you book online, be sure to call the hotel direct and confirm. Motel 6 seems to be getting worse about online bookings allow an overbooking situation. Liberal is hard to find a comfortable and clean, moderately updated and pet-friendly room.
Updated 11-28-17 -- We have stayed here twice since my original review. They have finished the re-branding to Motel 6 inside the rooms. New paint in rooms and I think new carpet. The bathroom door had such a bad paint job that it made the bathroom feel dirty although it was average clean. A few items in the room needed attention like torn drapes, tears in the shower current, and no pictures but still brackets on the walls. The pillows are still limp. There was soap but no shampoo offered - maybe it was an oversight of the cleaning crew because there we no tissues (not even the box) but they were provided when we asked. There is a lot of light allowed into the room around the curtains - if that disturbs your sleep, I suggest an sleep mask. Overall it's still a good choice in Liberal for pet friendly with an outside entry to the room. Without any breakfast offered, it would be a better value about $10-$15 less expensive.
Updated 5/15/18 - We've stayed here a couple more times since my last review. Still a good choice for comfortable bed and pet-friendly. Apparently the limp pillows are the normal thing here along with no tissues in the dispenser (unless requested) and no shampoo. I have not previously mentioned that there is not a grassy nor fenced area for dogs - going out in the ditch area or by the neighboring hotel are the...
Read moreWorst Motel 6 EVER. No hot water. No stopper for bathtub. Shower lever to start shower, NOT WORKING. Heavily torn drapes/sheers. Hair dryer removed and electrical plate exposed. Heavy rust buildup on numerous parts of building exterior and walkway deterioration on underside of walkway on second level. Picture shown on main banner page of this Motel 6 advertising this property looks NOTHING like the actual property as it’s very run down on the exterior.’ Reported issues with no hot water upon arrival and nobody came from maintenance to resolve the problem or even offer to switch me to another room in the meantime. Also, the glass door leading into the ice machine room has a huge splinter crack in it, creating quite a safety hazard if it were to break loose and injure someone. Attitude when I reported these things to the front desk clerk the next morning was very indifferent. At my insistence, I finally got a room to take a shower in before I left. Front desk staff never even apologized or offered to make an adjustment to the bill for my stay. I would strongly recommend NOT staying at...
Read moreWe've been driving to NM from DC and back for 3 years now in our Subaru Forester. It has been a grueling trip each time, but ones filled with adventure, tragedy, accidents and good people! Monica Queen is one of those people and is the SHINING STAR of the newly opened MOTEL 6 in Liberal, KS. We've know Monica now for 2 years and she is always eager to see us and check us in! (btw, she makes great cookies!!) The Motel 6 is the 'newer' part of the old Quality Inn, still in place. Local management has made quite a few improvements but the hotel needs much more. It is a bargain at under $60 a night for a smoking room. Bathroom doors need painting still and there are some minor dings around. || Monica is the evening desk agent and takes great care to make sure we're all tucked in for the night getting ready for our final leg the next morning from Liberal to Taos,NM via Guymon,OK and Clayton,NM up to Taos our destination for a month each year! Hopefully we'll make it west again this Summer. If we do, we'll be sure to stay...
