FEB 2024 UPDATE - just finished visit and as always great room, great service. Love parking for premiere membership.
Adding a fourth review for my go to place in Youngstown. This could have been a disaster. Two nights booked, Veterans Day weekend with events nearby and when we arrive at 11 p.m. we were told hotel overbooked, head to Hermitage, PA. Lisa McAllister, manager on duty, (I believe we talked in the past when I commended you) take notice. Lawrence and Sam pulled out all the stops and snagged us a room. As a Choice elite member I felt vindicated for my loyalty (and as always love the reserved parking). Lisa (and C suite), make sure Sam and Lawrence get their well deserved award. I am also a Wyndham Elite and actually snagged a room down the road but when Lawrence and Sam saved the day I cancelled. Sure the other hotel was fine but I swore to myself if Choice could not honor an elite booking I was gone from their program. Thank goodness they have top quality staff that can deal with the unexpected. Five stars and applause.
Adding a third review as I had to come back to Youngstown for a birthday dinner - shout out to Gatsby's at the Avalon Inn Grand resort - and would not stay anywhere else. Hoping the C suite reads these reviews as I am an elite Choice member and this is one of the finest hotels I have enjoyed, at a reasonable cost. As before appreciated a quick dip in the indoor pool and breakfast but the staff, top to bottom is what really stands out. This trip I want to make sure that Steven Dattilo gets the prize. As Assistant General Manager not only is his service and winning personality great in its own right, but I know he is partially responsible for the overall top level of service and cheerfulness. Perhaps a bonus and promotion, he is the type of employee that any company would value, thanks again, I will return!
Adding this as snowstorm us keeping us here two more nights. Microwave, fridge and pool very welcome - had a "four star" hotel in NYC which did not have any of the three. Special shout out to Tawana, hospitality manager, for handling all and running a tight ship.
Just arrived at this exit off I80 just inside Ohio. Lots of hotels up here and most are second rate. No butler service here but clean with excellent amenities (including being part of Choice). Hope management reads these as I am a platinum member and always pay attention to front desk staff. A big shout out to Deneja, definitely an asset, let her know she is doing a great job and keep up...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN. This is NOT a family friendly hotel. Start off at the beginning: Checked in hotel, was with myself and my 4 children. Was given our room on the 3rd floor, took all of our things went up there and the room had not been cleaned, bedding everywhere garbage everywhere disgusting. Went downstairs to tell them, said housekeeping/maintenance gone for the day and would see what they could do to try get us in a spare reserve room because they were fully booked. (Mind you, I had this room booked for 6 months) Gave us another room, this room was still not cleaned properly, had food all over the floor that did not belong to us and crumbs in the sheets... but we had no choice but to stay because it was the only room left. Onto the second evening, my 2 YEAR OLD daughter had got sick and threw up--- ONE time on the bed. I went down and got new bedding stripped the bed and SCRUBBED everything with soap and water at 11pm. (Probably better than they ever clean them) Gathered everything I used to clean it and put it in one central area in the bathtub. They proceeded to then charge me $300 on top of my stay for a "biohazard" fee, for my 2 year old puking THAT I cleaned up. There was no vomit anywhere and the room did not smell of it, except on ONE towel and ONE sheet. To me that does NOT warrant $300. When I called the front desk to inquire, I was talked down to like a piece of trash, general manager REFUSES to speak to me and the female manager on duty was extremely rude to me and told me to "do whatever the hell I wanted" and hung up on me when I mentioned contacting corporate. Unprofessional, disgusting, no security at this place, ONE female working at the front desk all night long- unsafe and not family friendly at all. I did even offer to let them take the $150 deposit for any "inconvenience" my 2 year old cause and they won't return any of it. I contacted corporate and they agreed that this is absurd but the General Manager David Allen has to be the one to reconcile this and he refuses to do so nor contact me regarding any of this. Thankfully corporate is going to reconcile and credit my choice account for MY inconvenience. Do better David, this is disgusting and horrible. We book 30 rooms at this hotel EVERY SINGLE YEAR for our dance studio for competition which is thousands of dollars, after speaking with my studio owner Cheryl we will NO LONGER be using this hotel....
Read moreWe stayed twice. 8 nights and 1 night in this facility. We spent 2 nights at another Comfort Inn at Niagra Falls. Yes I will return because the location was good for us. The rooms were clean and modern. The facility is newer than most. It has a large well lit parking lot. The staff was always friendly and courtious.
Hot water was an issue. Some days we had to wait 5 - 15 mins for hot water at the Youngstown North facility - especially in the mornings.
Despite placing a request tag on the door for 2 days in a row we had to go to the front desk to pick up clean towels. Suggest a default room refresh after every 2nd night be standard unless the long stay guest opts out.
The front desk person seem to be over tasked. It seems they have to greet and check in guests, clean the cafeteria area and tables, respond to telephone calls, manage the conferene room and dispense on demand clean towels.
The hot water in the beverage area was never hot - luke warm at best.
The parking lot entrance at night was clogged with parked semitrailer rigs parked to one side and then across several parking spots in the main parking area. Suggest confining this enterprise to one clearly marked area.
The entrance sign from Belmont Ave is dim and poorly lit at night. Suggest replacing the burn out bulbs with bright energy efficient LEDs.
The concrete divider island in the enterance area off of Belmont Ave is low and hard to see day or night and should be either removed or painted in yellow reflective paint.
On our second stay, we unpacked and found we had no hot water after a 15 min wait. So we had to change rooms because there was no hot water. The 2nd room had hot water after a 5 min wait and a differnet air handling unit that would not allow for a temperature setting.
The shower floor in all the rooms that we stayed in had a curious shiny metal tray that rings like a bell when the shower drips while the shower is on or just turned off. Suggest application of 3 to 4 inches of rubber sound deadning tape under these ringing trays.
Thank you for the oppertunity for feed back. I hope it helps Comfort Suites to be...
