Honestly, this location has its ups and downs which makes everything harder to review.
First and foremost, it is the only IHG option in Logansport, and unless you want to drive 2 lane roads 15-20 minutes, you will stay here as a loyal IHG member. This being said, the room rates are expensive. I mean like "holy cow, why are they so expensive in this small town".
My stay was 100% business related, and this stay was the last visit. I had been staying nearly weekly (except one week that I was on vacation) for the previous 6-7 weeks. I was working 11-16 hour days, so I when I was in the room, I was primarily focused on getting cleaned up and getting some sleep.
Anyways, friendly staff, if not maybe a little on the quiet side. Standard IHG breakfast offerings, although on this last stay the delivery truck must have been several days behind because the healthy food options (yogurt, fruit) dwindled very fast.
Also on this stay, the room keys were changed over from swipe to touch. They posted multiple signs at the entrances to let guest's know that new keys were necessary which was a very good plan. If anything, i would have recommended that they posted signs a few days prior, and /or made guests aware at check-in, allowing guest's to be prepared to have someone in there room (especially guests that use the do not disturb door placards).
Standard IHG room with the modern refresh. Has the latest thermostat, but unfortunately this location has the "lack of motion" 3 step adjustments (look it up for more details) set very aggressively. I stayed at this location for approximately the previous 6-7 weeks, and all rooms were like this. It was nearly nightly that I would wake up soaked in sweat as the room temperature has risen a considerable amount. This makes for awful sleep quality!!! I did mention this to the front desk a week in or two back but I am not sure anything was done (note these settings are controlled via a proprietary network designed by the HVAC manufacturer, and unfortunately there is no means to adjust these at the thermostat without the correct hardware and software).
Bathroom vanities and mirrors are the modern refresh which I like a lot. The caulking around the tub needed a quite a bit of work, and this last room had an issue with bugs around the tub and shower are (a few new roly-poly bugs every day and the occasional new daily spider).
Refrigerator worked very well! Didn't use the microwave, but it's the standard IHG offering. Did not get to use the TV, as I was working 12-16 hour days the last 6-7 weeks, so I really just wanted to sleep.
Parking was fine, although I believe they should enforce any semi and vehicles with trailer parking to be the lot closest...
Read moreThe worst ever and that because I didn’t even stay. ||||I booked my room weeks in advance even called a couple days before to modify and confirm my reservation for Friday the 19th through 22nd. ||||I arrived around 3:15am after driving close to 20 hours and was told that rooms were overbooked. So I could not get a room. They said they would pay for me to stay in a hotel 35 minutes away for the inconvenience. The hotel they sent me too was a run down Quality Hotel that did not take me due to them not paying with a credit card. They then call me and tell me I have to pay for it and they would give me points. (Yes I did lots of yelling and cussing as it was now 5am and I had plans for Saturday, was going on 24 hours of no sleep and was also a single female traveling with my daughter). If I was going to have to pay I was not going to pay for a hotel I felt unsafe at so I left. As I was looking for another hotel I checked my account to see that they took $550.73 for the stay that I did NOT even stay!! (And yes it was “processing” but I needed this money to book another hotel). I called and Stephanie the manager first off told me to calm down as I was yelling because I was out on the streets with my daughter 3 states away from where we live with no money and no place to stay. She then said she tried to help me by placing me at the other hotel that had vacancies. I let her know that even if I decided to stay at that ugly hotel that they took my money and would not be able to pay for it either way. She then said well she didn’t know why the hotel wouldn’t take me but that’s all she could do. And that the money that was taken was just a hold. I began yelling again and she told me she woke up at 4am to help me to which I replied that I had been up since 4am the morning before and thought I had a hotel to sleep at. I also asked her how she would feel if it was her and her kids and she said she would’ve been ok with everything. She finally said the owner would call me when they wake up. So I drove 20 hours just to have my daughter sleep in the car and drive 20 hours home. I missed the concert I came down to see as well as my daughter almost missing a softball tournament she was here for (luckily her coach met us on the way home and brought her back so she didn’t have to miss). But all in all even if they do put back the money they have on “hold” I wasted $200 on George strait tickets that I couldn’t even go and about $400 in gas for nothing. I only got condescending remarks from Stephanie and her saying she tried to help me even though there was no help given. ||||I don’t understand how people can be so heartless and be ok with a mom and daughter sleeping in a car after...
Read moreStaff is nice, however, I was told I would be in an "updated room". Called for hours while in route, no answer. Told upon arrival they have trouble with their phones, sounds like someone's answering and hanging up. For 3 hours one day and for weeks while making the reservation? Really, may need a new phone company. Informed the person who told me I would be in an updated room had been fired because she kept messing stuff up. I don't want to know this. The room I was to be in was already taken by a long term guest, his name was shared with me (confidentiality?) and one of the other rooms was being occupied by, another name shared, who just suffered a house fire and lost everything. Hmm, do they share everyone's name and information with all guests? Concerning. Get to room, I can hear road noise, for about the next 35 minutes staff keeps trying to give me another room, but it's on the same side of the building. I finally say I'll try to figure it out the next morning, I'm tired. Light in bathroom is burned out, sink is leaking/dripping, noise from road, and the bed is hard:-( staff come up, can't fix light brought wrong bulb leaves after an hour and a half, I realize he's not coming back and I go to bed.
The breakfast was decent, I like oatmeal, none, and I like milk. They ran out of 2%, and I wish I hadn't grabbed the skim milk. After a BIG drink of the skim, I realized it was BAD. I almost threw up. The next morning the bad milk was still there all the skim milk was outdated. Also, Please keep the cream cheese in the fridge, I do not know how long it's been sitting out.
Honestly, I could have managed the road noise if the bed had been better. I did get to hear the story about the renovations, why it wasn't done, what had been done, and how one guest pays for an entire year at a time to make sure she gets the room she wants. Oh yeah, there is also the list they keep of rooms to only rent out if necessary because "the construction guys don't care" and they will put them there. Do you not like "the construction guys"?
I think maybe a little more than the rooms need renovated. You can't teach nice and friendly, but you can teach professionalism to maintain guests confidentiality. Try to teach the staff you have, they are nice, they just need to STOP sharing guest information with...
