I wish I had taken photos to share the disgusting way we found our room on check in but I had my dogs with me when I arrived at the room. Firstly, the lobby is beautiful I had high expectations based on this and the photos of the rooms. I was so happy to have found a hotel where my fur babies stay free. I was extremely disappointed after I tried to enter our room. I arrived at our room to find it propped open and no bedding on the bed. I called down to the front desk and am asked to come back down to be told they have no other rooms even though the hotel did not appear to be full then or the next morning BTW. After going downstairs to only then go back upstairs with the front desk clerk who also said she was the head maid to find out nothing in the room had been cleaned. The bathroom was dirty to say the very least at its condition. She gave us our options once in the room that A) She could leave me things to clean the room myself or B) she could do it for us and we could leave our dogs there in the room in the crate. I would have gladly made the bed if my room was clean but I am not cleaning someone else's pubs off the toilet and scrubbing my shower for a room I paid to stay in.
When we returned to the room it was mostly clean, not fully clean because there was still dog hair and weird odor from the prior dogs I am guessing which is fine we have dogs, and we travel with our dogs. The towels for this hotel are so thin and old or cheap not sure which that they absorb absolutely no water. The shower when you go to turn it on and pull the lever the whole water spout thing moves. The worst part is that the whole room is constantly damp like something is wrong with the air. The bed is damp, the floor is damp, you clothes in your suitcase get damp. Lastly, the fridge in the room is missing the door for the little freezer part to it so anything you put in the fridge gets frozen, one more the toilet would just run and run and run and not flush at times because it was never full.
This hotel has so much potential, the staff are nice but I have no interest in cleaning my own room, and this hotel needs serious updates and repairs. The elevator barely works and the pool is green. Also, the location is convenient for our purposes but seems to attract a bit seeder people who partake in recreational drugs.
One more we asked to stay a few extra hours and we were charged an additional $50 fee even though our room was not ready upon our arrival. I appreciate being able to stay longer but I should not have been charged due to the inconvenience at our arrival and the delay it caused us in getting to our son's soccer game at his university which was the whole reason for our trip.
I will never stay here again and may never stay at another Red Roof Inn if this is what they are like. This was our first and only experience. BTW my sister was there in another room and had similar issues with her room being damp but at least her room was clean when...
Read more*UPDATE We called from my Dad's phone, which is a local number. The manager, Jennifer answered. She stated that she will issue the refund immediately. So, 5 days later, the issue is resolved. Unacceptable.
UPDATE* Hello Jonathan,
It is 12/12/24 and I've yet to speak with the manager at the Red Roof Inn in Longview. If I call after 3p, she's gone home for the day. When I call early morning, I only get the VM. I've left 2 messages so far and no one has called me back. At this point, I'm going to have my Dad contact his bank to dispute the charge and provide documentation showing that I initially paid for the room. I am also going to notify the Better Business Bureau of the terrible service at this location. I honestly believe that the manager is just there for the title and possibly the paycheck. You need managers that are reliable, on call to handle escalations, and care about the customer's needs. The manager at this location clearly does not have these qualities.
I booked and paid for a room for my dad. Upon his arrival at the hotel, they charged him again. I went inside to discuss the situation with them. I showed her the charge on my bank account. The lady at the front desk advised me that the manager is not available on the weekends and she is the only one that would be able to issue the refund. Why are there no managers on the property on the weekends? Plus the lady that we spoke with was rude. After seeing both charges , she didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. I am sure that there was a number that she could have called her manager on so they could take care of this matter instead of us having to wait until Monday. We will never book with them again. Oh yeah I called the corporate office to file a complaint, even though I booked the room, they told me that my dad will have to call and file complaint. Absolutely ridiculous. It's really not about the money at this point but my dad needs his money refunded. He should not have to wait. It is the principal of the entire situation. A manager should be available on the weekends to address issues like this if the manager is the only person that can...
Read moreAs I'm traveling with my large dog, Red Roof (Red Woof) has become our top hotel choice since there's no pet fees.
My dog was starting to get really stressed from the roadtrip, so we stayed here for 2 nights. I love that the staff is pet-friendly. The first morning when I told her it was time to go potty, we stopped for a brief chat with the housekeeper in the hallway. Well... I had already said "potty", so once I stopped, my girl decided it was time to go. I felt awful! The housekeeper was reassuring and immediately radioed for maintenance. Before we got to the elevator, maintenance had arrived with a carpet shampooer to handle the situation. It was at that point that I realized the carpeted hotel didn't smell AT ALL like pets. They really do a fantastic job of keeping on top of "situations".
It was quiet. We slept very well. Internet access was hit/miss with wifi and cellular (Verizon) - I was able to do what I needed to do, but it took a little longer than It should have. We felt safe in the hotel. They had a nice designated "pet potty" area outside.
The rooms are "inside" the hotel, so parking right outside your door isn't an option.
If you can avoid it, don't park near any patches of grass. When the sprinklers came on, my car ended up being under the flow, and now (still) I have white water spots all over my car and on the windshield. I've been cleaning the windshield with the squeegee every time we stop for gas, and I can still see the spots.
This was a nice location in what seemed to be a nice little town with everything we need. I was able to get food delivered with Walmart+. There was also a Discount Tire so I could get my tires inspected under warranty - turns out I'd driven about 400 miles with a nail in the tire. I'm really grateful that we stopped in Longview and I thought to get the car...
