I wish I could rate our stay at zero stars. I booked online, so I had no interaction with staff/ownership prior to our stay. When we arrived, I headed to the office to get the key for our cottage. I walked into an empty lobby and waited for several minutes before being greeted by a “Yeah?” by a woman who I assume is owner. I shrugged it off - you never know what people are dealing with.

She asked me who was staying with us in our room - I let her know that we were a family and inquired about it breakfast. Because of COVID and having young children I asked about sitting outside. She said “No” because the “construction was loud” and then proceeded to grill me on which of my children would “actually eat the food”. It was a weird interaction but again, I don’t know this person…I left the office and made my way to the room.

Our cottage was musty and dated - think ‘grandma from the 90’s’. Our cottage would benefit from a major overhaul in decor and furniture which felt like it was picked up from a decades-old convention center supply rummage sale. It was clean enough and laid out well. The bathrooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The air conditioner worked well and our kids were thrilled that there was a TV in their room.

We got dinner from Cafe on the Corner (IT WAS AMAZING!!!!) and hung out in the room.

We ultimately decided that we didn’t feel welcome to the breakfast meal and my husband went up to the office to let them know. I was concerned that my kids would feel the bad juju and we were having such a great vacation despite this less than stellar experience.

The next morning, my husband made sure to report AGAIN that we wouldn’t be joining for breakfast and requested no housekeeping services. They said that was fine.

We were gone all day from the hotel and when we returned about 11 hours later the first thing we noticed is that they had made the beds - that’s it. No one had taken the trash, refreshed the towels, or anything else…WHAT!?! we specifically asked for them to NOT enter the room while we were out for housekeeping services and not only did they NOT listen but they didn’t do a room refresh other than moving around our bags to make our beds.

About an hour later - my husband saw the guy that he’d spoken to earlier and mentioned his frustration with them entering our room. He was firm but kind and stated that he was unhappy with them entering the room after being asked not too. The guy said OK and that he would pass it along.

Fast forward to this morning when we left. I walked in to drop our key off (NOT eat breakfast at a Bed and Breakfast) and I am bombarded by 5 staff people telling me how disappointing my husband and I were for speaking so rudely to a “special needs person” … that our request for no room service was made at a poor time (during breakfast) and that I was completely out of line for asking to not get room service in the first place. The owner flippantly added “he never passed the message along, but that doesn’t excuse you’re behavior to mention to anyone”.

I was aghast. I have stayed at many, many small, charming and quirky B & Bs. I LOVE THEM!!! I was so excited to share these fun experiences with my kids. This morning, I just had nothing to say. I’m not sure how we are out of line for NOT eating breakfast, for requesting no service and then kindly expressing disappointment when that request isn’t honored.

I hate that this was our last experience in Chattanooga but it will not dull our trip. I refuse to let that happen! We will (obviously) never stay here again and I’d advise you to stay...

We stayed in the “Room with a View”. Room is warm and cozy. Very spacious and decorated well. Bed is spectacular and comfy. Really love the detailed lace on sheets. I’m sure In the winter with the fireplace it would be very romantic. Only con is the shower. They really really need to replace the shower head. Had to turn it all the way hot to stay warm. And it took awhile to wash my hair. This room could also use more lighting. Two wall lamps was not enough and typically had to open curtains to get enough light. As for the property We didn’t get to walk around much bc we were busy and there was also a lot of thunderstorms but I found it very inviting and peaceful. The pool is small and only 3ft but it was never crowded and my 8yr old niece loved it. The hot tub was my favorite place. Especially after a day of hiking and rain. Last but not least breakfast, the main reason I chose a B&B over a hotel was because I love a good breakfast. Breakfast was good but I didn’t like you didn’t get a choice. I understand they can’t provide everything but I figured we would have a choice of eggs, biscuit or toast, and meat. First day was a quiche (spinach, egg, potatoes, cheese). My niece wanted pancakes and was told that was the day before. They did at least make her sunny side eggs. We also got bacon, toast, and some watermelon. Btw the quiche was delicious so I’m only leaving my experience so others know what to expect. Second day we weren’t even told what breakfast was they just brought it out. It turned out to be chocolate pancakes, minced beef, and two tiny slices of oranges. They only gave my niece one pancake(size of a slice of bread). I felt uncomfortable asking for more so I just gave her one of mine. Staff was nice but I got the impression they aren’t used to small children being around or like them. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this place over a chain hotel. The location and peacefulness...

We came for a weekend to spend with each other. Now the place is built in the 20th century so it does have that look. We stayed in Room with a view. It was not bad did have a musty smell but i bought a dollar airfreshner and it took care of that.(maybe they could invest in airfreshners) we looked at a 2 bedroom and had the same musty smell. Kinda like you going to those historic museum houses smell. It could use some minor maintenance. Like in bathroom the quarter round had some minor mold from the shower water coming out. Could replace shower head not alot of water and shower rod. Bed was very comfortable. Had nice fire place and the ceiling lighting was romantic. They could use some mini microwaves. Ours didnt come with one. Now the breakfast if you looking for chain link hotel breakfast this is not the place. Its good but very simple and defferent. Fist morning had croissant with egg and piece of ham, and grits with a mini fruit cup. 2nd morning had big piece of croissant french toast with whipped cream and fruits and syrup and 2 pieces of round breakfast pork sauge. With either apple juice or orange juice which arent 100% juice and coffee. Our breakfast was in the outside patio which was nice for the day. You also get to meet the other guest which is nice. NOW you do get greated with the owners dog rita every morning at breakfast. I personally didnt like that. He smlled like a dog and was right there waitng for scraps. I like dogs just not around when you eating your food. They working on the parking lot. Very good area for attractions on lookout mountain. Definitely a unique place. Not a new or modern place at all. But we liked it. It's not for everyone. We only interacted with the owner Ed he was cordial. I did do the cake was very cute cake. Smaller than I expected but was good. Now would I do it for the 40 it cost me again probably not. Our first time at a bed...
