Let me be open about this...my extreme disappointment is that this establishment is now corporate run and lacks the appeal of what a Bed and Breakfast is. If I wanted a corporate run establishment, I would have stayed at a hotel. The location is amazing, but some very small things really made this stay left us wanting. So, let's cut to the chase and let you know what was missing. 1. No coffee service until 8a.m. Yes...there is a keurig in the room, but you have to pour water into it per cup...make if yourself...wait 3-4 minutes for it to warm the water and then another minute or 2 to sqeeze out a cup of life. By the time it warms up the ceramic cup...it's just warm. Can't top it off and you only get 3 pods left in your room unless you ask for more. 2. No room service- There is a sign in the room that says they only make up your room on the 1st night due to labor shortages...but they are owned by Rock City...who has hundreds of employees...so, there's that. 3. For our room charge of almost $300 per night, we would have expected a wine hour. We've gotten used to having the charm of an inn keeper that will offer a glass of late afternoon/early evening wine. Not here...there were some cookies and tea...but there was no wine and no personal touch. When I complained about not being allowed to come in for coffee at 7:45 am...which was on the "Fall Forward" time change...so my body felt like it was 8:45...I was told to wait. I "bullied" my way in complaining it was time for coffee and ridiculous that it was so late and not available...we were told we are just employees and have to drive to get here. I am sorry...this is not what a B&B is supposed to work. I am not an early riser and yet it was way too late for me. I can't imagine the frustration of those who get up at 6 or 7 am. On the bright side: The room was clean, the chef made an amazing omelet and the staff did offer a smile and kindness...but this experience lacked a proper inn keeper. Apparently, this were sold earlier this year. Sadly, we...
Read moreWe have passed the beautiful bed and breakfast for years on our way to visit Rock City. Every year my husband and I say we need to stay a night. This year for our 25th wedding anniversary we did! We could not be any happier or more impressed. The room smelled so good and clean! Every surface was spotless. The jacuzzi tub was angled to the body so perfectly that I can never be happy with my jacuzzi tub at home again. The bath products the staff left out for us were definitely high end and smelled amazing! They even left the cutest little rubber ducky on the side of the tub for us. They provided luxurious bath robes for our stay. The fridge was stocked with soda and waters. There was a Keurig coffee maker with three different selections of coffee. I don’t even drink coffee but was super impressed. They even filled the ice bucket for us! On our pillow was a little bag of high end chocolates wrapped up so beautifully with a note that said Happy Anniversary! How sweet is that?! We did not use the pool but it was calling for me. If I had my suit I would have dived into the deep end of that pool just like I would in a dream. The water was crystal clear and the deep end was 8 feet. The bed was wonderful and the pillows were fluffy. We had a wonderful nights sleep. Breakfast was served late enough that we could sleep in without missing it. The dinning area reminded me of being in a small castle in England. The rooms were beautifully decorated in their signature Chanticleer theme. There was fresh food laid out for us on the antique buffet. About 6 different breads, fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, yogurt, and the most exquisite cheese! Yummy! Then they come over and took our order. Both my husband and I got the ham and eggs. It was wonderful! Do yourself a favor and experience this place for yourself! This was our first time but we will be going to this wonderful place and seeing their wonderful staff EVERY year...
Read moreWe had such an amazing say at Chanticleer, from the service to the location this Bed & Breakfast was a hidden gem on Lookout Mountain. The moment I made the reservation they were helpful. I had to rearrange our trip a couple of times and they were more than accommodating with our changes. We didn't know what to expect as are so accustom our usual Marriott Elite stays but, we have to say that we felt welcome and at home the moment we arrived. We were in room #12 which was spacious and beautiful! We really enjoyed our breakfast each morning. Our favorites were the Biscuits and Gravy and the Blueberry Pancakes. Also, the chef needs to be commended for the perfect eggs she prepared each morning. We also loved that Chanticleer was close enough to Rock City Gardens that we could walk the short distance. Also, there is a Starbucks located right across from Rock City Gardens. We also enjoyed the afternoon snacks and fire-pit at night.
Thank you again to Rachel for the hospitality and for being so knowledgeable about the Chanticleer and surrounding area. She told us the history of the B&B and answered all of our questions. She was always friendly and attentive to our needs. Also, thank you to Carol and team for their hospitality as well! They were helpful with great recommendations like Clumpys and Boathouse. We will definitely be back next time we are...
