Comet Motel - LAX — Hotel in Los Angeles

You get what you pay for so if you are not a scaredy cat and don't care about old stuff book here.||||I opted to save money and called Comet. The man that answered the call was nice and said he has a room for $50 for the night. ||I arrived quite late around midnight and checked in. the check in window was broken and the motel grounds looked a bit messy but it was dark and I was tired. Didn't care. ||The man gave me WIFI password and said I can go to my room but was given no key...very weird and unsettling as he unlocks the room from his office. ||||Inside the room, you can lock the door behind you. ||the carpet was old and bedspread was ripped. Seemed clean though. I slept on my own pillow and on top of covers.||TV was old but worked and drowned out the noises from outside (barking dog and chatter) had a lot of Mexican channels.||Bathroom was clean an small soap and towel was provided.||Did not use the aircon, looked old.||||There is a lot of outside noise as the motel is off a main road and the neighbourhood is dodgy. Dogs barking and rambling drunks hanging around.||||I did not sleep well as I kept waking up a little scared about the noises outside and possibly being murdered. I did not feel safe.||I was on the ground floor. Perhaps I would have felt a little safer on the next floor. ||||There is a vending machine outside but I didn't want to check it out as it was dark and scary. ||||I would book something a little nicer next time.||||Check out was easy, said thanks and left. ||||I gave 2 stars as I had a reasonably clean room, check in was fast, and the shower was hot.||||The taxi completely ripped me off. Paid $60 to get there from LAX and $60 to get back to LAX (same driver) . Use an uber to get here, they may not require danger pay... Or...

If you would like to stay in one of the roughest parts of Los Angeles then this is the place for you. Photos online are very decieving! Approaching the motel would have you believe you were in an NWA video, upon entering the car park you would could easily think that you have taken a wrong turn into a scrap metal yard. When I checked in, I was greeted by just as the office window was a mirrored privacy window that you would expect to see in a jail. The gentleman then informed me that the room has no key, he would have to "buzz" me into my cell each time I was allowed back in after pumping iron in the yard. My cell was furnished with the following:- a tv from 1995, a bed made out of old timber upon closer inspection, a quarter roll of toilet tissue, a single bar of soap, an air conditioning unit that I almkst mistook for a jet engine when switched on, and how could I forget the slab of wood needed to lock the window. I was relieved to find out that I would not be alone in my cell as I had celebrity guests from the movie Antz, they were all over the toilet and even provided a wake up call by gently massaging me. The bathroom seemed to have not been cleaned since they filmed the infamous chainsaw scene from scarface, and the rusty shower handle was tricky to operate. I was entertained through the night by the sound of what I believe to be a gunshot, I imagine an inmate may have been taken down by a guard while trying to escape. I decided to take my belingings with me whenever I was able to leave the jail as it was recomemded by the guard at check in. All in all I have to say though it may only be $55 to stay here, you are better off elsewhere as you may not ever leave this place if you forget to lock your window with the...

If your standards are extremely low and really just want a place to rest your eyes (if you can sleep through the smell of cigarette) then this place may be for you as it was one of the cheapest places we found. But it definitely was not for us. Once we arrived, the rental office looked like it was broken into and the manager was not friendly. In our booking request, we had requested for a non smoking room, but once we entered our room, the smell of cigarette hits you like a ton of bricks. We also noticed that there was no smoke detector. The washroom only had one towel provided even though we had booked a room for 2 people. There was also no toiletries – such as shampoo/conditioner/lotion/soap/toilet paper – the roll of toilet paper was almost at its end. We had spoken to the manager regarding these issue and he insisted that his house keeper had cleaned and put everything there. The manager also insisted this was the “best room” that he had saved for us. The manager said that he had a couple guests checking out the next day and we could change rooms. If the room he had saved for us was the best room, we were NOT interested in seeing the other rooms. There was cob-webs in the washroom, the bedsheet, towels, pillowcases and pillows were dirty. We pointed these out to the manager and he states they were dirty but “stained”. We also noticed an old cigarette butt on our headboard with some ashes.
