First let me start off by saying, If your looking in the likes of the Hilton or the Embassy Suites, theses are not the cottages for you. Other than that, these cottages are a gem in disguise. Located in a good central location on Sepulveda Blvd. These little cottages are individual and discreet with lighting next to each cottage at night which provides great comfort. Try to book soon as possible because you will find that they are always booked, and I'm surprised that there are not more reviews in English. So I'm honored to be the first. This is my 3rd visit to the Sherman Oaks/ Van Nuys area and the Starlight Inn has always been my choice. It fits my budget, there comfortable, tidy and neat. They have 32 inch flat screen televisions, spacious vanity area, clean restroom, fridge, and the AC is like Alaska, King size beds always with fresh sheets, I would have to say my favorite about the inside of these cottages are the colorful walls and huge mirror that's body length and about 4 feet tall, every cottage is mirrored this way. This is truly a "Gem in the Ruff" And the staff is really helpful. Ask for Chris or Cali they speak full English and is very friendly and helpful. ||On the downside again these cottages are far from the Hilton, the ice cost .50 cents, and the microwave is located next to check in. I do a lot of ordering in so I don't use it. They are very nice cottages that are over looked and well priced. If your a budget traveler that's in search of nice clean cozy accommodations that wont burn a complete whole in your pockets. Next time your in this area try the Starlight Inn you may just find your way back next time your in...
Read morePaid $95 for the night and $10 cash deposit for room. Walked in the room toilet was dirty, food still in refrigerator, someone hair on the bed sheets , pillows had stains on them, trash under the bed, and towels dirty. Would not recommend this place to anyone. When I went to the manager lady at front desk to let her know the room is obviously dirty. She told me it was not her problem and that I can check out without a refund.
An hour later she sent a housekeeper to clean up the room. The whole time the house keeper kept saying over and over while she was cleaning.. how this room is so horrible. Then she starts to point out to me other things that are clearly wrong with the room. She then mentioned how the manager does not care about the customers they are only concerned with money only. 😑
The housekeeper then tells me that there is a better room across the hall. She even points to it because she just finished cleaning it. She then says I will tell the manager to switch out the current room for the clean room. But when she spoke to the manager the manager refused to switch me to a better room. 😔 I could tell the manager was emotionally unstable, argumentative and ready to argue about anything..
I don't like to waste my energy on energy vampires so I chose to not engage with her anymore doing my stay.
This "hotel" motel established is clearly violating Covid 19 Policies. They are not taking the necessary steps to clean rooms daily to prevent the spread of Covid 19. They are actually not cleaning the rooms at all. This establishment could care less about the health of the customers. They are a part of the problem. 👎

Read moreI went to L.A. on business recently and was going to stay at a motel in Covina but when I got there the place was worse than a dump. I decided to go back and stay near LAX but found out there were no rooms available anywhere. Finally I found the Starlight North of the mountains and drove there immediately. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. From the outside it is obviously an older place and isn't that impressive, but then little else in L.A. is either. It's average for the area. Inside though I was very pleasantly surprised. First it was clean and seemed well maintained. The staff was nice and cooperative outside of a minor language difficulty. I was concerned that neighbors might be a problem but it was quiet and no issues at all. The neighborhood was nice with plenty of amenities. Parking was fine. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 was the first room I stayed in (I had to leave for a few nights on travel and got a different room when I returned) was that the first room had mold on the bottom of the shower curtain. In fairness that was something that the staff could easily miss when cleaning the bathtub. The second room had no problems whatsoever.
I have to travel to L.A. on business a couple of times a year and from now on the Starlight will be my choice for economical lodging. Trust me, you could do...
