The absolute worst experience that I have ever had with a hotel. I requested a handicap accessible room due to my disability. I am a left lefamputated, suffer from chronic pain related to that, and of course have a difficult time climbing stairs.
I was handed key cards for a room on the highest floor and told the entire facility was booked. I waited for my husband to arrive and we decided to go to a different hotel. I went to advise the clerk and retrieve the payment I had made less than 30 minutes ago. He absolutely refused to return my money, which was all we had. I explained to him that without the cash in his possession I will be forced to sleep sleep outside. Knowing my specific disability from our earlier conversation, Brandon the desk clerk advised me that I could make a two-hour walk to the YMCA homeless shelter and sleep there. In addition, he was intent making it clear to me that there was no way he would take me there himself in his car. I had not asked, suggested, implied or even hinted that I wanted to be in an enclosed area with a clerk from a hotel alone. We were advised to return in the morning and request to speak with the hotels manager Jamie Harris. We arrived that morning at 10 a.m. and were abruptly acknowledged by Mr. Paris who in a matter of about 2 minutes made his stance clear that this employee "never lies", that the three customers there to witness his actions were lying. Said there was no way he said I should walk to the shelter. Mr Parisar looked me in the eye while basically accusing me of being a liar, and of using my disability as an excuse to make someone else look bad. It was the most offensive comment anyone has made to me since my he acccident. He was degrading, rude, and completely insensitive to my basic needs as a human being and their obligation to accommodate my disability. Her voice continually rose as she accused me and my husband of being Liars and to leave the hotel immediately. It was a most unprofessional and blatantly mean incident ive4experience in a public business setting. My husband has made their corporate office aware of it we have contact with her complaint line and I feel as if it is being swept into the rug and basically defended. Red Roof Inn things to breed an environment of unprofessional, discourteou, and hateful employees and supervision then Pat them on the back when they knock one out of the park. If you want to be treated like a human being I suggest avoid Red Roof Inn, there is always a hotel less than two blocks away that has the same price and much more courteous...
Read moreMy husband, son and I stayed at this location due to its close proximity to an event held at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center, and also for the price, which was about half to 2/3 the price of the other nearby hotels. Due to the lower price, I wasn't expecting much, but the website said that rooms had been recently renovated, and the pictures looked good. The rooms did seem to be updated a bit even though the exterior of the facility was certainly showing its age, but some of the furniture was worn. I know you get what you pay for, but here are my observations: - First, I will say that the front desk staff, both at check-in and check-out were very helpful and courteous....definitely the highlight of the stay. - The toilet took a very, very long time to flush. I don't know if it is an issue with water pressure or what, but the water swirled around in the bowl for at least 30 seconds before finally going down. We actually thought it was going to overflow. Strange, to say the least. - Although the sheets smelled of bleach (so I assume they were clean) they were stained and almost threadbare. It did leave me to wonder if the bedspreads are changed between guests, though. As far as comfort, the mattresses leave a lot to be desired. All three of us had trouble sleeping and were stiff and sore when we awoke. - we had a room with two double beds that is supposed to sleep four, but we were only given two sets of incredibly small and thin towels. The front desk person gladly gave me a third for our son when asked, however, having to traipse to the lobby at 6:00 a.m. was not my idea of fun. - There is not a hair dryer in the room. I should have checked the site when packing, but I assumed the small wall-mount dryers are fairly standard these days, especially since the rooms had been recently renovated. - And, although expected due to its proximity to the airport, the noise level was fairly high throughout the night. - Lastly, and definitely what bothered me the most, was all the trash. We arrived around 4:00 pm to check in, and had to leave for our event shortly thereafter. Upon arrival, there were bags of trash everywhere, which we had to maneuver around to get up the stairs and to our room. It was a little inconvenient, but understandable due to the time of day. However, some of the bags were still there when we returned that evening and when we checked out the following morning. As I noted earlier, the price was about half of other nearby hotels. So, if price is your main concern, this location should...
Read moreThe short of it: Good: -Location, being very close to the airport and other major places -Two Bedroom had a working microwave, fridge, and T.V. -The heat works really well Bad: -Cockroaches -Mold in the bathroom -Tub wouldn't drain -The area has a bit of a seedy vibe to it, but I didn't have any trouble personally -Noisy
I stayed via a CLC booking for work. The staff was friendly enough for being as busy as it was. You definitely have to catch them during the day early if you want any cleaning, linens, or other services. Once the day shift people are gone, you're on your own.
The room itself was a two bed with a microwave and fridge that seemed cleaned and well kept at first glance, but upon closer inspection it's obvious they don't move the fridge or clean places that are just out of reach like behind the toilet or around the fixtures. All appliances and lights worked properly except for the TV remote, no batteries!
Now that I've gone through all of the typical things, I can get to the issues I had with the place. The biggest problem were the roaches, my room was absolutely infested. They say you see one and that means there's hundreds more you don't see, so what if you see around 20? I slept with my lights on just to try and deter the things, but it didn't stop them from putting on a show at night. I swear the whole floor was moving at one point when I got up to use the bathroom.
Speaking of the bathroom, that's where my next two issues are along with more of those very friendly cockroaches. The bathtub did not drain properly at all. I spent a bit of time fishing out a cockroach that was previously hidden in the drain before actually taking a shower. The poor drainage and excess moisture explains the abundance of yet another unwanted nuisance, mold. Most of the ceiling in the bathroom was coated with mold.
I'll end this review on the noise levels. I did hear a lot of commotion throughout the night from other guests, so that along with the airport and expressway being nearby means plenty of noise day in, day out. If you're a heavy sleeper, then it won't be a problem. Otherwise, bring earplugs or find...
