Sister-in-law booked this place for us. We came from MN as first-timers in CA. Upon arrival, we noticed how rough the neighborhood was but we tried not to let that get to us. Once checked in (our room being the furthest back by the dumpsters), we were devasted. The room was crowded with only enough space to scoot by, and the hardwood floor was dirty. I decided to read reviews about the motel, and people have reported seeing cockroaches. Great! Just what I needed to hear. So I told the boys: "We're leaving if we see cockroaches, dead or alive." Because of the dirty floor, we ended up going to Wal-Mart (about 4 minutes away which I liked) to buy flip flops to wear as house shoes. We could tell from our room's battered window and door that it has been broken into before, so we also bought knives for protection, just in case. When we got back, I went to the bathroom and spotted a huge cockroach running around in the bathtub! That was it for me! We were supposed to stay 3 nights, but I called the front desk to let them know we were only going to sleep that night and leave the next morning. (I wanted to leave right away, but it was getting late and everyone was already tired after our 6-hour drive from Vegas). I demanded a refund for the 2 nights we will not be there, which the staff person willingly agreed to (only after I refused his offer of putting us in a new room). Because of the cockroach scare, we closed all our suitcases and bags tightly and had everything on the table/dresser. We even slept with the lights on. Despite the condition of the motel, the staff was friendly though, so I give them that. They also had a fridge and free wifi, however, the TV...
Read moreMotel as a whole is OK. I slept quite well, when the noise from the fireworks ended (July 4th)||But this is, maybe, only the second location, where I did not feel welcome by the staff in the reception. OK, I was 5 minutes early from the stated check-in time at 13:00, but it seemed very important to point out that grave error!||It then turned more sour, when my credit card for some reason declined. I have contacted the issuer to figure out what went wrong. Most likely a glitch on their part or a procedural error from me or the receptionist.||Luckily I had the cash.||||I did not have any bad runnings the the remaining staff (cleaning etc) who were all friendly and helpful.||||The room had a noisy A/C, but that seems to be the case everywhere. Turn it off and sleep!||||I was missing some sort of a table and a chair, however! The fine working WiFi had to be accessed standing or from the bed! All I had was a Q-sized bed and a small thing next to it with two drawers. It took some creativity to do my repacking for the flight home.||The room had an annex, a walk-in closet if you may. Completely empty! A small table and a chair could easily have been placed there.||Everything in the room made of wood seemed rather worn! ||||Room had a fridge and a microwave. Both in fine, working order.||||Neighborhood may be so-so, by judging from the amount of fireworks. At least back home (northern Europe) you see more fireworks in poorer areas!||||Some street noise must be expected.||||No breakfast was included at my stay. But judging on 60% of my other motel stays on this trip, included breakfast is not worth the x-tra money, nor the trip to the...
