After such a high rating on Trip Advisor and several glowing reviews, my family was excited to book a one night stay at this hotel as a way to get a good night's sleep after a long flight and have a good breakfast the next morning before traveling home. However, after the experience we endured, we don't plan to stay at this hotel on any future trips to or through Chicago.||On the positive side, the hotel was conveniently located not too far from Midway airport, the employees we encountered were friendly, we appreciated the liquid hand soap pump in our bathroom instead of a bar of soap, and the complimentary breakfast was acceptable.||Our biggest issues were with the hotel building. All of the walls in our room were so thin that we could hear the adjoining room's TV, guests' voices, and the plumbing every time a shower/sink/toilet was used. Due to the larger opening under the door, all noises (voices, doors, footsteps) could be heard inside our room as well. During our visit, 1 of the 2 elevators was out of service as well as the ice makers on 2 of the 4 floors. Our room was not properly cleaned from the prior guests, because when we moved the purple stools on wheels located under the desk area, there was a dirty child's sock and several pieces of cereal underneath them. Also, there was toothpaste smeared just under the counter top in the bathroom. Due to the design of the Roman shade inside the window, it did not block out the outside light very well, which made it difficult for us to fall asleep and then woke us up early when the sunlight came through the sides. We've never stayed in a hotel room that had Roman shades, and now we know why - they simply shouldn't be located in a bedroom (especially one that faces lighted signs and street/parking lot lights).||While not the direct fault of the hotel as they have a pet-friendly policy, the family in the room right next to ours left their dog unattended after 8:00 p.m. while they were out (we believe at the pool). The dog proceeded to loudly bark, whine, and howl for nearly 45 minutes (we did call the front desk and the employee said they would check upstairs), before the family arrived back to quiet their dog. Then we could hear their TV, loud talking, running around, and the plumbing (as described above) for the following two hours. We even had a sound machine with us to help drown out the noise so our child could go to sleep, but it didn't work in this hotel with all the loud sounds going on continuously.||Thankfully, we were only staying one night as our room could sleep 4 (we only had three people in our room), because the bathroom only had three large towels, three washcloths, and one hand towel. The room only got assigned to us when we arrived as the only one we could choose via the app was located next to the elevators - which we specifically requested to be away from when we booked our room months ago.||Overall, for the price we paid and just wanting a good night's sleep after a long flight from California before completing our drive home the next day, we ended up leaving extra tired and very disappointed. After staying at a Courtyard by Marriott, Best Western Plus, and this Hampton Inn during this particular vacation, we felt the value for the stay was the lowest and the experience was the least pleasant. We don't plan on staying at a Hampton Inn brand hotel in the future due to the...
Read moreI’ve been waiting to leave a review hoping that they would redeem themselves. I stayed here in March for 3 days. We arrived after 9:30 pm and the checkin process was cool; Sherry was great. Left back out and came back close to midnight. The issues started when we got upstairs. My bed had dirty linens with stains on the duvet and sheets! Whomever was working suggested that I change the bedding with the stuff they brought up! 1.what I look like changing a hotel’s bed and 2. The room was a mobility accessible room (I’m in a wheelchair). Negative. We made due for the night by putting a blanket over the dirty linens and I changed the pillow cases to find more stained ones underneath. Disgusting! They were booked For the entire stay so I couldn’t switch rooms. I was guaranteed that housekeeping would come in the morning to switch the bedding; they ended up just folding up the duvet I put over everything and left the bed as is. Even left a dirty face towel in front of the tv that we didn’t use. Nasty! Finally at the end of the day after complaining AGAIN, the bedding was changed and the room cleaned. Next, the bathroom sliding door was narrow so it scratched and made gashes on the coating on my wheel bars. I have a custom chair that was just purchased 3 months prior. My hands have scrapes on them because of that. The handicap parking in the back has construction materials in front of them but the sidewalk is clear. We got out the car and unloaded one day only to find out the entrance was locked with a poorly hand written sign that said the door was closed! Like really?! Upon checkout I expressed my concerns again and was told we’ll take care of it. Nothing! We drove 10 plus hours and to have my property damaged was the most important thing I cared about. The repairs to this wheelchair is not cheap! I requested my money back and they only gave me my points back. Crazy! Hilton customer service was not helpful. I have 4 case numbers and all they say is to keep calling back in x days to keep opening another case number as the management is clearly ignoring me. I prefer Hilton hotels but after this…I’m cutting up the card! If you have mobility issues, don’t stay here. I’d give zero...
Read moreComfortable stay, clean and quiet, hotel staff was super polite and accommodating, giving little concessions here and there, aiming to please guests, clearly, we felt welcome. Nice breakfast, it included a cheese omelette, sausage patties and breakfast potatoes, which were extra tasty, full of flavor and a bit lemony. They were well presented, everything was stocked and full to the top as if it was just open. This was 20 minutes before breakfast was done. Impressive. There was a waffle maker, with plentiful fixings, and selected pastries, toast, yogurt, boiled eggs, some fruit etc.
Our room was quiet and comfy, for the most part, with minor design flaws. Bathroom was nice, updated, bright, however there was a barn door sliding between bathroom and adjacent closet, leaving one or the other open, plus the gap of hanging barn door that could swing outwards made the bathroom not a private place at all. Also body size towels were unusually small/short and I am a medium size person, just felt tiny. Absence of outside air to the room and not much of air flow to be heard or felt in the bathroom or room, leaves stuffy, stale air filled with a variety of aromas of food and drink plus bathroom use during our stay. We opened the door to hallway several times to air the room out but were unable to keep it propped and had to stand and hold it. It helped a bit but not a lot. Could have just been our room though. Overall, this was a pleasant stay, restful couple of nights, sans the squeaky springs inside the bed, making every move sound like a squeal, or discovering empty dispensers of shower gel and conditioner in the shower after already in and wet when we first arrived. Yet, a super pleasant, friendly, smiling, accommodating and helpful staff in all positions, great amenities and a generous breakfast make up for those minor details, and I can easily forgive them. Thank you for a...
