I don't understand why they have such great reviews.Tracie the manager was at the front desk when we arrived for check in. She was not professional or helpful. After asking the name on the booking she asked if we booked through Priceline in front of other guests. She can clearly see all the details of our booking. I've never had a hotel ask me that question. Typically they will say things like "because you booked through a 3rd party". Next I was hoping for a room not on the 1st floor because of all the noise associated with the breakfast area and pool or guests coming in. She refused to give me any other room than the one she chose. Telling me Priceline chose the room which I know to be a complete lie. She also stated Priceline chose a handicap room on the 1st floor because it was the last room left. That too was a lie because you had 3 cars in the parking lot my entire stay. We are not in need of a handicap room but were clearly given no choice but to take it. Tracie stated there are no pets or smoking allowed. We don't smoke or own any pets so no problem there. Once I got in to my room and open my curtains I see a small dog at the pool staring at me. The owner was taking selfies with her dog. Seriously tracie the dog is right outside the front desk area! Sleeping was difficult that night because the refrigerator and A/C were loud. I guess that's to be expected with a old hotel. I was able to shower only after I removed the oversized handicap seat in the shower. The entire hotel smelled strong of fragrance, I'm afraid to find out what smell they are covering. Upon check out I asked for a receipt showing I had no charges to my account Mary refused to print me a receipt stating that I booked through Priceline and that Priceline sent me a receipt. I explained that charges can occur after the initial booking. I wanted a receipt showing I had a zero balance with the hotel and that has nothing to do with Priceline. I said to her maybe best western will email me a receipt and she told me no they will not. I was happy to find out that the hotel DID email me a receipt. To the staff at Best western plus Magee I will not return to your hotel and will remember this when choosing where to stay in the future. I was traveling due to an unexpected death in my family. Please consider this when dealing with your guests in the future. Work on meeting your guests with hospitality and try to be accommodating it's...
Read moreI called and booked a room for ONE night. When speaking to the manager, I specifically told her I was part of a group that blocked rooms for the weekend of June 2-3. I asked for a room for Saturday night only, but she made my reservation for 2 nights (even though I asked for 1 night) because the group blocked rooms for 2 nights. She did not tell me that I was obligated for 2 nights since I was booked under the group name. Had she told me that, I would have made my reservation outside of the blocked rooms, I would have just paid the additional charge and booked my room as an individual booking. She didn’t ask for my email either. I continued to wonder when, if ever, I would received an email confirmation or welcome email, as I did previously at a different best western stay. She could not override or change anything without calling the hotel owner. She told me she would call him and get back to me. She never did! I spoke to the front desk clerk at 10:00 pm that night. She called the manager to check on the status of this situation for me, luckily. Otherwise, I would not have known that the owner said there was nothing he could do. I highly doubt there is nothing he could do. His hotel manager did not listen to me when I called to make the reservation. This was her mistake that’s...
Read moreI’m currently staying at this hotel, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best hotels in Mississippi. I’ve stayed at other hotels before, but this is the only one I keep coming back to. The front desk staff and even the manager are very kind. The lady in the pantry, who cooks breakfast every morning, is also so nice—she even remembers me.
This place truly feels like a hidden treasure, one of the best Best Western hotels I’ve ever been to. Everyone here is so welcoming. At one point, we almost had to sleep in the car because the hotel was fully booked, but I kept calling to check. Thankfully, the manager went out of her way to squeeze us in and give us a room. I’m so grateful to her and the entire staff—without them, we really would have been stuck in the car.
The hotel itself is spotless. The beds are soft, the pillows and bedding are fresh and clean, and I haven’t seen a single stain. The housekeeping team deserves a salute for the excellent job they do. They even check in on me to ask if I need anything else, which I truly appreciate. The room is not only clean but also spacious, making my stay even more comfortable. Will definitely...
