Do not stay here! Overpriced for zero amenities and poor customer service. I get they can't help the loud road noise from the PCH, but the rest is complete negligence. There is no one at the front desk/office after 5 pm, so we had to do a weird self check in. I was grateful I asked to have physical keys left outside our door as we never could get the mobile key to work & parking is scary and no lights at night with potted cactus in the walking dark path at night that we almost ran into. The doors and walls are disgustingly dirty in the room and bathroom. We didn't want to touch the bathroom door with our hands, it's that gross. The shower seal on the glass was missing so it would flood the bathroom floor every time we showered. They knowingly put us in a room with a broken ground floor window & we had to sleep with it open all night since there wouldn't be anyone in the office until the next morning. When we tried to fix it, we discovered they had placed blue painters tape on the outside in hopes it'd stay closed. We had multiple spiders in our room I'm guessing due to the window being open. They weren't able to move us rooms since they were all booked, so they put more tape over our window to hold it shut & told us not worry as their hotel was "safe". Our private outside patio had terribly soiled cushions, the ground was dirty with leaves, & our doormat consisted of a 12"x12" dirty carpet remnant. The pool was not heated as advertised and was very dirty with stuff floating in it. The cushions in the pool area were also very soiled & the entire pool area looked as if it had been abandoned. The complimentary bikes consist of 1 bike with flat tires. The coffee and tea service as advertised, consisted of one dirty counter with a very small pot of coffee with 1/2 cup of luke warm coffee in it. Our keys quit working, so we were locked out of our room for 2 hours waiting for staff to arrive after several phone calls. We ended up having to call the West LA location to speak to a manager to get us help in Malibu as the staff was not there at 7:30 as posted on the door. We were only offered 15% compensation, but we haven't received confirmation that we will receive that. This was the strangest hotel experience we had ever encountered and we have traveled all the world. This is first review I have ever left, but I feel like I have to, to save others from the...
Read moreWe stayed here and were unfortunately very underwhelmed. It is not remotely worth the price. I’m not exactly sure why we stayed there, by the side of a highway not walking distance to a beach, not close to anything except roadside. For the $700/night price, you’d expect an upscale boutique hotel experience like many others we’ve had the pleasure of staying in- I’m not even asking for a hot tub - like a bar would have been assumed to be minimal requirement - but not even that- just beers in a fridge and “complimentary online yoga classes” which is a one month free trial. I tried to use the complimentary bikes for a nice morning ride and was told by a security guy sitting at a table glued to his cell phone that hotel staff haven’t yet arrived so I wasn’t allowed to after he called some manager. On top of that, they charged us $25/night for self parking at this roadside motel with plenty of parking, and not one but two extra bizarre fees one resort fee which i suppose one for the dinky little pool (that was relatively nice and definitely instagrammable as was the rest of the hotel). Secondly, for a health and wellness fee to which I inquired why different from a resort fee, they said it was for healthcare for their employees. Last time i ran a business, I included the cost of running of my business within the advertised price, not tacked it on as an up sell that people can’t say no to. Of course you should pay your employees living wages and health care support- just don’t add it after the bill - what kind of management is this? I can see they rake the gravel every day, but what else is being offered really? Again, good for Instagram but no real substance.
To be fair, I will say the good things. Hotel is kept sparkly clean. Great linens with high thread count and fluffy pillows. The pool is small but quiet and nice. I like the hammock in the back and the boxed water. They also welcomed us with a bottle of champagne in our room to celebrate our anniversary and a handwritten note.
BLUF: it’s nice enough but this roadside motel is not...
Read moreA Hidden Gem in Malibu – The Heartfelt Elegance of Hotel June 🌴||After living in Los Angeles for over 15 years and traveling across the globe, I’ve developed a pretty good sense for places that don’t just offer beds—but stories. And this past weekend, I stumbled upon one of those rare gems that make you pause, breathe deeper, and whisper to yourself, “This… this is special.”||Let me introduce you to Hotel June Malibu—a boutique hideaway with only 13 rooms, tucked between coastal beauty and warm California sunshine. But don’t let the size fool you. What it lacks in scale, it more than makes up for in soul.||The rooms? Thoughtfully designed, with those subtle touches that whisper good taste instead of shouting trends. Think: crisp linens, warm light, and materials that feel like someone cared. The kind of care you rarely find in cookie-cutter resorts.||The staff? Some of the kindest I’ve met. Genuinely attentive, beautifully relaxed—like Malibu itself. From check-in to breakfast by the pool, everything felt effortless, kind, and warmly human.||Speaking of the pool: it’s not just a place to dip your toes—it’s a sanctuary. A rare space where conversation flows slower, and even your iPhone seems to know it’s time to switch off.||I came for a short escape and left with a long-term plan. We’ll be returning soon for a full retreat and private buyout, because let’s be honest: when you find a place that blends design, location, and soul with this kind of precision—you don’t just visit. You commit.||Hotel June isn’t just a stay. It’s a feeling.|And feelings are what great hotels should be made of.||Perfect for couples, creative souls, and anyone needing a pause button in the chaos of life.|Highly recommended—with heart.||Holger Bröer|(Founder | Coach |...
