The Blue Mystique was our home for one night. Yes, we felt right at home. We were greeted by Elizabeth upon arriving. She welcomed us into her beautiful home and showed us around. We were more than impressed. We were astonished to find this kind of service at such a low price. The linens were definitely percale-fresh and crispy-like she had just taken them down from the clothesline. Her entire home was spotless and very well decorated. The walls were adorned with beautiful artwork from local artists that was for sale. Truly exquisite pieces!! The gardens were meticulous and we could hear the waves of the lake splash at night. We walked to a nearby winery and tasted some new local flavors. Breakfast was served promptly at 9am with all of her guests present. She served yogurt with berries, scrambled eggs with fresh cut basil, and delicious pastries. It was nice visiting with everyone and comparing notes about different Michigan hotspots. Everyone was so friendly! Check in was easy. Check out was easy. Parking was easy. We truly wish we could have stayed longer, but we were on a mission to see more of the beautiful UP. Elizabeth is a natural at hospitality and her staff exemplifies how manners and courtesy’s are to be addressed. I highly recommend that everyone experience this kind of hospitality and luxury. It’s not what I would have expected for such a small town, but Elizabeth made us feel a bit royal!!
Thank you for sharing your home with us. We’ll be back and we already told all our friends...
Read moreFriday night at Blue Mystic Inn in Manistique was an absolute treat. We kicked things off with a glass of wine on the patio, soaking up the sunshine and chatting with the chef as he prepped us for the incredible six-course journey ahead all crafted from ingredients sourced at local farmers markets.
First up was a stunning bruschetta, the perfect way to ease into the evening. Then came a fresh mixed greens salad dressed in an onion vinaigrette so good I could’ve easily sipped a pint of it. Next, a tuna tataki with a silky yellow curry sauce that had me licking the plate clean. The chicken Marsala that followed was so rich and authentic, it transported us straight to Sicily.
My personal highlight was the Ribeye Fiorentine. Tender, flavorful, and accompanied by blistered Brussels sprouts and a perfectly balanced port reduction. Absolute perfection.
Dessert was a warm bombolini paired with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream-decadent, comforting, and downright addictive.
Throughout the night, the chef popped out between courses to share the stories behind each dish and even a bit of his culinary journey. It made the night feel that much more personal and special.
Can’t wait to go back....

Owner Liz has created a space with rooms that are wonderfully appointed yet still cozy with the warmth of the fireplace, the candles, and the music.|As for the Chef’s Table experience, it’s hard to know where to start. Chef Joshua Curtis is charming and approachable without ever dominating - so full of culinary insights and clear descriptions of flavors. He prepared a six-course meal just for us. We were extra challenging diners as one of us is vegetarian and the other is not. He accommodated us both seamlessly. Our courses were similar in flavor combinations, just slightly altered so as to incorporate either meat or non-meat options. The man is truly an artist. He guided us through the entire dining adventure with his expertise and his warmth. Each plated dish was unique, satisfying, and beautifully presented.|We have been lucky enough to travel to some pretty cool places over the years and dine in some pretty special restaurants. We honestly are having trouble thinking of an evening out that was as special as our evening at The Blue...
