We recently stayed overnight August 2 & 3, 2018. The hotel is very elegant and I give the Jett's Restaurant staff and food a 5 star except for the breakfast choice of only burritos. However, we were very disappointed in our treatment by the hotel staff. Upon arriving and noting the stairs to the 2nd floor where our room was my husband politely asked for a room with a king size bed on the lower floor where you only had to go up about 4 or 5 steps (I am getting ready to have hip replacement surgery and can barely climb stairs).... relunctly they told us we could go View a room on that level but it only had 1 queen size bed. So we asked for a room with 2 queen or double beds......they said none were availabe. So I hobbled up the stairs and down the hall to check out the room.....we knew it would not work for us so I climbed all the 25 + stairs to the top floor.....we found our room way down the hall and then down another hall the next to the last room!!!! Again my husband goes back down and again asks politely if there is a room on the 2nd floor that is not so far down the hall and closer to the stairs to accommodate my issue. He was told that they were fully booked and no other rooms were available. However we later found this to be untrue! So we stayed.....should have Left and gone elsewhere. Then my husband had to carry up all our luggage with no help from hotel staff to our room down 2 halls and at the end. Funny thing as while I waited for my husband at the top of the stairs to bring up our liggage, I saw another hotel clerk showing a room near the stairs to another family and was all too accommodating and pleasant to them. And we were treated as though we were Inconviencing them by asking questions politely. Room was nice but sitting on the toilet the sink pressed into your left side! So a very tight space. In my opinion....The hotel staff should be required to assist customers with their luggage if there is no elevator and should be taught to assist those of us with handicaps! Same issue when we left.......dragging the suitcases down 2 long halls and down a long flight of stairs and 1 shorter flight. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with a handicap or who cannot walk up 20+ stairs while dragging your suitcases with no help from hotel staff, We will not be staying here again nor will we recommend it to friends. Will recommend the Jett's Grill! Signed.......disappointed...
Read moreStaying at Hotel Paisano was the last leg of our 7 day family road trip across NM. We were so excited to be staying somewhere with lore & extensive history.
We got in around 6:30pm with an easy check-in. There was a stack of cookies available & unsure of how long they’d been there, I didn’t let my kids have any much to their dismay. The person helping us check in didn’t seem to know either.
Our room was a historic 2-Queen with a balcony overlooking the main hotel dumpsters LOL!! Honestly, it wasn’t an issue at all considering we were there for the overall vibe & town.
We had a 7pm dinner at Jett’s and loved every second of it. The maitre d was AMAZING! I unfortunately can’t recall his name, but he was a godsend. Having been on the road for 8hrs with 3 small kids, this man sensed their desire for destruction & saved the evening with a curated collection of coloring pages - not exaggerating. He had them organized in a small binder & told them he’d be grading the best colored picture at the end of dinner. He even sat my daughter first, asked her where she wanted to sit & addressed her as Miss, then placed her coloring pages in front of her. He did the same for the boys, addressed them as sir & treated them all like stars. I was so touched by his kindness & investment in making the little people feel seen & important.
Dinner: superb! We ordered quite a bit - the wedge salad, queso fundió w/chorizo, pistachio jalapeño chicken fried steak, pot roast w/Brussels, Jett’s spicy margarita, espresso martini, kids burger, kids Mac & cheese & kids chicken. Can’t forget dessert! We ordered the lemon meringue pie, Oreo pie & chocolate cake. Worth noting - their lemonade isn’t from a fountain. I was pleasantly surprised!
The checkout process was just as easy. The gift shop wasn’t open at the time of our departure (8am) but a gentleman behind the front desk offered to open it for us & my jaw almost hit the floor. Totally unexpected and 100% appreciated!! We got some shirts & hats for family & a few other things.
I don’t believe it’s worth taking a star off of the rating but it is worth noting: the hours in which the elevator was being worked on. At our arrival time the elevator had a crew working on it. They didn’t stop until around 9:30pm. Guess when they went back to test it?...
Read moreI initially made a reservation for three nights, checking in on a Tuesday and out on a Friday. Later I emailed the hotel and asked if it would be possible to move my reservation back one day, to Wednesday through Saturday. I received an email confirmation with the new dates—it was clearly a form email, identical to the first one I had received, with only the dates changed. Then, when we arrived, we were told that we would have to change rooms after two nights. We were going to have to be packed and out of our first room by 12pm (the usual check-out time) on Friday, and the person at the front desk said that they could not guarantee that we would be able to check into the new room earlier than 4pm (the usual check-in time). I did not want to have to change rooms at all, and I strenuously objected to being without a room for any significant period of time (since I was with my wife and our two kids, and we often need a rest sometime in the afternoon). Later, the same employee who had checked us in told my wife that the room change was necessary because I had asked to change the dates of the reservation. The employee seemed to think that the hotel had gone to some lengths to accommodate my request for a change and that I therefore had no right to complain about having to change rooms. She didn’t seem willing to acknowledge that the real problem was that the hotel had not informed me of the new arrangements and that this was entirely the hotel’s fault—I would never have kept the reservation if I had known that we would have to change rooms. Still later, the same employee told me that something had been rearranged so that we would not have to change rooms after all. She was not at all apologetic, however; her stiffly polite manner indicated to me that she thought I was being difficult and that she was accommodating an...
