Mutual Friends Coffee — Restaurant in Marfa

We stopped at Mutual Friends coffee shop while we were in Marfa. It’s the only coffee shop open at 7:30 am, which was a perfect time for us. It’s such a cute shop, the quintessential coffee shop in a small town. The owner was super friendly, helpful, and kind. She spent time chatting with us, giving us tips for the area and for hiking trails. The customers in the shop were equally kind and helpful, we felt so welcome. The coffee was perfection. The breakfast taco I got was absolutely delicious. The tortilla was nice and soft and it had amazing flavors. I also got the rye chocolate chip cookie, which I mostly saved for the trail. It was one of the best cookies I have ever had, and I will be thinking about that cookie very often. The flavor is perfection… an absolutely craveable cookie! Hello, I visited yesterday and ordered a matcha latte with oat milk. However, it tasted quite watery, more like matcha with water than a creamy latte. I usually expect a creamy smoother and richer texture, so I thought I’d let you know in case there was an issue with the preparation.

(Edit) Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, I hadn’t intended to leave a negative rating — I just wanted to share honest feedback in case something went wrong with the preparation.

Even my sister’s drink (a chai latte) tasted too strong and watery for what it was. But she’s “nicer than me” and didn’t say anything 😅

Our lil family had a weekend getaway here in mid-June and we are huge coffee snobs. I hate to say it. But we just are. We had the pleasure of interacting in the early morning (loved that this opened at 7:30am when you have a toddler or just wanting to get an early start to your day!) with the owner. She was such a gem, so kind, and so pleasant to converse with.
