I am really sad that I have to give the Marshall House Inn a bad review. We were looking forward to visiting Madison county for the first time. To start, all the reviews are correct. The house is clean, well decorated, stocked with wonderful options of local foods for breakfast, and the view of the French Broad River is amazing! Marshall, NC has many great restaurant options as well! We checked in on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. John was wonderful and friendly. We got settled into our room and decided to enjoy the front porch. We brought Yahtzee and some beers down with us and enjoyed the afternoon. Around 6pm, we went upstairs to our room and got ready to go out for dinner. I turned in about 10pm but my boyfriend who has PTSD related insomnia, decided to go back downstairs to sit on the porch and call his niece. Kerstin, the female owner, came storming outside and asked him to “SHUT THE F#$K UP”. Yes, it was 11pm. Yes, we understand there are other people in the house. No, we did not know that that was your bedroom. Either way, there is a way to speak to paying customers.||The next morning, he tried to make things right and apologize. Kerstin was still keeping it going from the previous night. She accused us of being “partiers” and was extremely mad that we were playing Yahtzee at 5pm in the evening. She even made the suggestion to leave and stated that she would give us all our money back. The whole time, her husband stood quietly behind her in shock at the way she was behaving.||Needless to say, we never saw either one of them for the reminder of our weekend. What should have been a wonderful weekend getaway turned into what felt like a prison sentence.||Would I return to Marshall House Inn? Never. Would I recommend it to someone else? Never. However, this is the place for you if you plan on sitting quietly in your room, not making any noise, and definitely do NOT get on Kerstin bad side because she can be a...
Read moreOur room was ready when we got there. We were greeted by John who was super friendly. He also gave us a brief history of the house and the area. It was a short walk down the hill to the quaint town of Marshall. Everything was clean and cozy. The shared dining space upstairs was fully stocked with healthy snacks and drinks. There were also pamphlets and a board with local areas to visit. The view was lovely and the amenities in and out of the room were perfect. We stayed in room #3 which had lots of space, plenty of windows and a rainfall shower head which we loved. There was even a heater which we definitely used. I loved a lot of the products that were stocked that I immediately came home and ordered the body wash as well as the hand soap. I even purchased the yogurt they had stocked which is my new favorite. The patio had plenty of space to sit and enjoy the daytime views as well as the night sky. The fireplace was lit at night and open for you to enjoy if you wished to. It truly was a memorable experience and we would definitely return...
Read moreCouldn't have been happier, this was a spectacular experience! From booking to arrival, the attention to detail was top notch. The inn is located between Hot Springs and Asheville, NC. The house is simply stunning, from the eclectic modern decor to the subtle and beautiful nods to historical preservation. The complimentary breakfast is superb with limitless locally roasted coffee, fresh baked scones and amazing quiche. The linens are crisp, clean and luxurious, neatly made on top of an amazingly comfortable bed. Room 4 (a 2 bedroom suite w/ gorgeous private bath) is absolutely delightful and the perfect room to book for a girl's weekend getaway. I stayed there with my Mom, sister and daughter and we had plenty of space. The innkeepers suggestions for local food and flair were spot on. Sweet Monkey Cafe is a MUST if you visit Marshall, you will want to try EVERYTHING on the menu and then take some freshly baked bread home with you! You cannot go wrong with Marshall House Inn - I am already planning a...
