Omg. AMAZING. We live out in Raleigh and a local bartender had a sweet shirt on. We asked about it and it happened to be this place- just a few weeks before we went to this part of the state! Marshall was one of our first couples trips, and we were so sad to see the devastation from Helene. Long story short, we wanted to get back here.
When we got in, it was about 5:30. The shop is small but VERY well set up. My husband is a D&D and board game nerd, I’m a pretty/collaborative board game & graphic novel nerd. We found SO many things we both loved. Plus, when we came in, the owner was leading a d&d game with some young women- they were so excited and it was very cute. He made sure to reach out to us and we felt very welcomed. We enjoyed listening to them sleuth as we browsed the store. It was just really lovely to see and hear an adult bringing newbies into a fun game.
I was REALLY pleased with the selection of graphic novels. I was even more pleased to speak to the owner and hear his lovely story. All in all, just a really great spot. Please go if you’re even...
Read moreAn awesome store that has already become one of my favorite places to go! Madison County has been sorely lacking a place for comics and gaming fans to go to, with us all having to commute into Asheville to get our geek fix. Now, Main Street Comics and Games is open in Marshall and is the place to go!
At the time of this writing, they've only been open a short time, but have really hit the ground running with comic subscription boxes, store copies of popular boardgames and RPGs so anybody can learn and play, a relaxing gaming/ hangout area, and even a nice clean bathroom (not always a guarantee in small shops). A selection of snacks and non-alcoholic drinks for sale round out the fun experience.
Owners Kyle and Avia are excellent hosts with a wide array of expertise in all forms of comics and gaming. They've created a warm and welcoming environment for all ages and it's always fun to talk with them. Warning: time will fly by very quickly when getting into geeky...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places in all of WNC!!! An absolute gem and a rare find - warm and open minded, not at all like your run of the mill stuffy/weird/bro-y hobby store. Main Street is fun af, super friendly and there's always something new and exciting to discover. I've had so much fun playing D&D at this store and getting to know the local table-top role playing gamers, comic book fans, and miniature-painters. Particularly, I'm so impressed by what a diverse community Main Street Comics & Games brings together! Folks and nerds of all ages, all walks of life, all cultures and all genders. Great place to connect, to be seen, and to find your latest geekdom obsession!!!! plus Marshall is just a really beautiful and special little town. Awesome visits...
