Americas Best Value Inn Memphis I-240 — Hotel in Memphis

First I must mention this was one of the most horrible incidents I've had in this city. We pull up to the hotel and there's a lady at the opening of the parking lot asking each car pulling in if they have a lighter. The parking lot is FULL of craters you have to dodge or else get a flat tire. The clerk allowed us to view the room FIRST. We open the door and there are roaches in the room. We look at the beds and the linen is visibly dirty and soiled. While on the parking lot near the room another lady is propisitioning a man in a white truck. She gets in the "back seat" and they drive off. We go back to the front and decline to take the room and give her the key back. She says to just call and let them know. We call the reservation number and are told they will need to speak with the hotel to confirm. We wait for them to call us back and 15 minutes later we call to check and see told they can't reach the hotel. I call the hotel 13 times and noone answers. So I drive ALL the way back to the hotel. The lady who was asking people of they had a lighter was in the lobby talking to the clerk and she's standing behind the glass. I asked her if the reservation line had called and she says "they haven't called me yet". I told her we've been trying to reach her for over 15 minutes. I dial the hotel number and it rings.... she says " oh that's you?". We call the reservation line while standing there and she lies to them and says "they didn't like the room". I couldn't hear the rest of the conversation but my card STILL has the charge for a room I never took. Her attitude like we were bothering her was horrible. Now they want to charge me fees for a room I NEVER EVEN USED.

EDITED TO ADD I have contacted the hotel and was told to contact the third party booking company for the refund. After waiting the ten days neither the hotel or their booking agency have returned ANY of my money and now neither will...

Absolutely terrible. After checking into my room and unloading my things out of the car, I get I to the room to find it smelling like weed (booked a non smoking), there were feces looking stains and smears on the wall, stains and bodily fluid residue on the carpet beside the bed, cigarette holes burned into the comforters, dusty and dirty bathroom, dirty counters and ledges everywhere, the room phone was not working, the environment was unsafe and not sanitary. I went to the front desk to ask for another room, he said he would give me the best room or a full refund. After trying to get into the second room to see if it was any better, the key card reader would not work and there were just too many red flags to even stay at this place. He said he would give me a refund and asked me to sign a paper, then told me since I booked through a 3rd party that I would have to call them for a refund. He said that when they call him to verify he will approve the refund since I did not end up staying there and was unhappy with the room options. As soon I left and found another place to stay, I called my 3rd party booking agency to process my refund (no more than 30 minutes after leaving this place). When my booking angency called to verify (numerous times) they were told that it was not approved and that they could not issue my refund. After I was just told that I could have a full refund and that he would approve it when they called. Needless to say my 3rd party agency ended up working it out with me because of the safety concerns I had with them even listing this hotel as a viable option on their website. STAY AWAY...

Horrible had to stay up all night to make sure my car was still there took pics for code enforcement won't be going back my kids didn't notice there to small the sink poured straight onto the floor I had to wash tub out with bleach so they could take a bath and then it was still to nasty they got new furniture that's it I read some reviews and magagment say they sorry for this and that they passed alone info still haven't read one thing they actually fixed I live in the neighborhood and I don't even wanna stay there no phones the TV keeps loosing. Signal says call front desk and I swear for 2 1/2 hours I tried calling no answer can't get wifi code I've seen homeless people under bridges that know how to talk to ppl better then these folks stay at your own risk I didn't wanna give them the one star but I wanted to post this so I had to...
