The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and special consideration was taken for food allergies. When making the reservation, I spoke with the wife and obtained permission to bring our medium sized dog. We were asked not to allow the dog in their backyard because it would encourage their dog to remark the whole backyard. Not a problem as there's a park half a block away. The afternoon of our arrival, the husband barged into our cottage on the pretense of showing us how to access the wifi. The next morning, breakfast was lovely with their standard poodle standing with his head almost in my lap. I love dogs so this didn't bother me at all. Following breakfast, the husband ushered us out the back door and said, "I'd like to invite you back but we don't allow dogs." I explained that I got permission from his wife and reiterated the conversation I had with her, details and all" He then called me a liar saying, "I have a hard time believing that. My wife and I have stayed here twice now for a little summer getaways, in both the upstairs of the main house and cottage across the backyard garden. Both different, but wonderful. Jolynn and John are gracious hosts - accommodating, warm and great to talk to. They make you feel more like distant relatives in town on a visit than just random travelers. John is a fantastic cook with a wheelhouse including both the savory and sweet (the oddly named “Dutch baby” is worth the stay alone). Coffee is alway hot, rich and fresh. The big old house is next to it’s namesake park, which makes for a nice walk or hang. Most restaurants and shops off the main drag are a 5-10 minutes by foot. All has a sense of place, birds in the morning, fireflies on warm summer nights… already want to return and have it be the same… in fact ignore all this and stick to the over priced cabins and traffic jams of Broken Bow… Seriously though, Janssen Park Place B&B is...
