My wife and I obtained parking permits for Roaring Brook campground on two consecutive days in July, hoping at least one would be a great weather day to make a summit bid. The Baxter Park Inn was not only a wonderful place to stay for our trip, but they graciously allowed us to check out a day early without penalty when we were able to complete our intended hike on the first day!! They also let us grab breakfast goodies the night before our alpine start, since we'd be gone before the continental breakfast would open. Very very friendly and generous staff!!
The inn is clean, very accessible, quiet, and safe. We especially loved the ice machine that allowed us to fill our camel backs with ice cold water for the hike! The indoor heated pool looked amazing, too, but we didn't end up using it just because we were so tired.
The room AC was powerful and reliable, the shower was hot and strong, and the room was spacious enough to have all our gear strewn about without feeling cramped. The mini fridge was greatly appreciated as well!! Overall a really fantastic base camp for a...
Read moreGreat place. Very clean facilities inside and outside the building. Friendly and helpful staff with good suggestions on where to go and eat. Older building but well maintained. Plenty of hot water. Pool was clean and heated (slightly), sauna is a dry sauna, don't expect the steamy one. Breakfast is basic but adequate, room for improvement but nothing to complain about. There are 5 friendly rescue cats that live in the lobby and old conference room, give the place a lot of personality. There is a laundry room available and a few exercise machines in the back room, breakfast room is available for board games or other use if you ask. Location is great for accessing baxter park obviously (25min drive to the gate) with the park office across the street. Everything you could want from a seaplane ride to snowmobile tours or white water rafting is all within a half hour drive. Motel seems to specialize in snowmobilers in the winter. Owners live onsite. Will...
Read moreNormally a chain hotel junkie, we were a little hesitant to stay here. Having a bad experience at a hotel down the street that caused us to cancel our stay at check in, we found this hotel on google and decided to try it out. From the time we checked in, we found out this hotel is very family oriented and cares about their guests. Very home town service where you don't feel like a number. Superb job on that guys! Kids had a lot of fun swimming, there's games and puzzles in the breakfast area for guests to play, and free wifi as well. Very clean rooms and housekeeping was amazing. Just as an example she noticed my small daughter had been drawing on the note pad and left an additional pad and pen for her to continue her artistic creations. Nothing we asked for, it's just the little things. Will have this as our place to stay anytime we come back to Baxter State Park and look forward to...
