I chose this hotel because growing up, I would come here to go swimming and had a great time with family and friends at this hotel. I thought it would be great to stay here and see if it was the same. Sadly I was mistaken. Upon walking into the lobby I noticed the ceiling tiles above the pool are missing, it looks like they may have rotted and fallen at one time. However, check in was smooth and easy. They were very accommodating allowing my friends and I to have rooms across the hall from each other. I got room 203. Upon entering the room I noticed that my view was of trees and an apartment complex. The window was cracked and had packing tape over the cracks. The back of the bathroom door had a massive hole in it, the phone didn’t work. I did let the front desk know about these things, she was nice and offered to move me. I told her that it would be okay, it did not hinder my sleeping.

The biggest problem I had was that it states rooms sleep 4 but they will charge you extra for persons 2, 3 and 4. We had my friends mother and brother over to visit, since my friends brother was graduating and we drove long distance to attend. They left around 830pm to grab food to come back and visit a little longer. As they came in the lobby with my friends fiancé (who is a paid hotel guest) the front desk told them that guests had to leave at 10 or they would charge the card as extra people spending the night. I have never stayed at a hotel that had a curfew. I decided to go back to my room at 10, because I was afraid that they may mistake me as a guest and charge their card. None of this was made aware to us upon check in. For 100 dollars a night, we should be able to have guests over to visit without feeling like we are under surveillance or grounded to our own hotel rooms. I have worked in hospitality for a long time and I do understand that people will lie just to get extra people in the room for free. However, if there was a flat fee for up to 4 people, there would be no reason to have to monitor the amount of guests in each room.

The microwave was unplugged because the cord didn’t reach the outlet. I was unable to move the microwave and fridge together to plug it in as it was too heavy, so I had to set the microwave on the floor in order to plug it in.

The next morning while taking a shower I noticed the shower head had high powered jets, which was great because it was like a massage! Breakfast was very minimal. No protein from what I could see. I couldn’t have most of the foods available in the breakfast room as I’m diabetic and everything was carbs and sugar. I decided to buy food outside of the hotel instead.

I ended up buying food for dinner for the next day too. I put it in the freezer to keep it frozen. The next night I found that the freezer was not working properly and everything in there thawed and ruined. I had to throw it all away. Needless to say, this hotel was overpriced and underwhelming and sadly, I will never be back! I let the woman at the front desk know about the food going bad due to the freezer not working right, and she said the owner will all me. So...

This is no Hilton but for the price, I greatly enjoyed my stay. My experience is as follows:

This is my first time in Maine and this hotel was the only hotel listed for my desired location and budget. The location is surrounded by a Rite Aid, Dunkin Donuts, gas station, small eatery and street lights. When I walked into the lobby, I was impressed by the great ceiling height. It didn't feel like a small, dingy, dirty hotel like some could be in this price range. The underground pool area is also found in the lobby because the square footage is so large on the ground floor; it makes sense. It is nicely decorated to provide privacy for the swimmers amongst other people checking in or out. Also in the lobby you can find arcade games, pool tables and the breakfast room. The continental breakfast served basic foods such as oatmeal, cereal, muffins, some fruit, bread, and self serve waffles. Which is more than I expected so I appreciate it. Also on the first floor is a coin operated laundry room and ice machine.

My room was on the 3rd floor and despite its location close to the elevator - I have no complaints about traffic noise. I also never heard my neighbors conversations/ laughter/etc. My room was a very comfortable size. The bathroom met expectations since I am very picky with the bathroom. It was very clean and modern. The water pressure was well. The beds were comfortable and appeared a good age (meaning not very used or has been in this room since friggin 2001). The flat screen TV provided many channels to watch and had the necessary inputs to insert my plug to connect my laptop to the TV. The AC, microwave and fridge worked as expected and was very clean. The rug felt new and clean under my feet. The body sized mirror was a bonus and supply of outlets was comfortable. And free internet- #AMEN!

CONS: Like I said earlier, this hotel was the only option for me for the area I wanted to be in so places I went was always a distance away from where I wanted to be. There is no iron or iron board in this room. I wish I called about this concern to bring my own. I did notice that after a shower, there was a faint odor in the bathroom that lasted just five minutes. I believe that could be the Maine water which is not what Im used too in NJ and is beyond the hotels control. I wish the room supplied another set of storage such as drawers so I don't have to continue opening/closing my luggage for what didn't fit in the pre-existed storage. The bed sheets are unappealing but I notice this is a common theme amongst hotels. The parking lot can be re-paved and have more defined parking spots. Bagels and cream cheese can be added to the breakfast menu. The shower head and sink fosset can be change to add to the modern styled bathroom.

My cons are more critiques rather than disappointments. I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel especially for paying under $90 a night. The family staff worked well with me and my accommodations. I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to pay a good price and have...

We came into town on what we thought would be a wonderful weekend considering our son is getting MARRIED this weekend. We chose the Katahdin Inn and suites for our lodging for the four nights we are in town. We drove four hours to arrive to a hotel parking lot full of individuals partying with loud music in the parking lot, cat calling me as I got out of the vehicle and drinking directly in front of the front door. Upon entering the building, we noticed the entire entryway was full of construction materials, where someone could easily be hurt. The carpets were not secured and very dangerous for someone who is disabled. When booking the room we were under the impression there were a pool and hot tub, cable, and Wi-Fi available as amenities based on the site’s advertisement as well as the marquee sign outside on the road. At check-in, we were told the pool is not available, the hot tub was drained, and due to them not paying a $500 bill, there would be no Internet or a cable. As we approach our room, we were overwhelmed with a smell of feces throughout the entire hallway. Millinocket is a very small town, so there were no other hotel options to book on such short notice at the hour that we checked in so we had no choice but to stay in this absolutely inhabitable hotel for the night. Due to the wedding, we have our grandchildren overnight and cannot bring them to this hotel in this condition so we were forced to book a second hotel for the remainder of our stay. Luckily the kind lady at another local hotel was able to provide us with a room and was very kind with the pricing.||When I called the manager line to discuss these issues with them, the manager told me that it is not their problem and that I would need to dispute the charges on my card rather than fixing the issue and helping us. When I mentioned all of the amenities that were not available as well as the condition of the physical building, the manager who was not any older than 21 told me that their website clearly outlines there is no hot tub and did not acknowledge any of the 20 things wrong with the hotel. I explained to him that this is a very inconvenient situation considering our son is getting married this weekend and there is already a lot of stress happening and he simply said “dispute it with your credit card company.”||To say, we are extremely disappointed and inconvenienced with our stay at the Katahdin Inn and suites is an understatement. This hotel should be shut down for the condition due to multiple reasons. Do not recommend booking or staying at...
