Check-in via digital doorlock was a breeze with provided directions -- and much appreciated considering my late night arrival. Up a steep stairway to room #2 (separate keys provided for each room) I found myself in a very pleasant & relaxing space. Decorative pillows and bountiful original artwork on the walls made it very homey and the bench at the end of the bed was perfect for my suitcase. Good lighting for bedtime reading. Very clean. Some slant to the floor which is to be expected of such an old building. Bed was firm but comfortable, decent (multiple) pillows and no "old house" scent. The room is on the small side and was at the back of the building so was very quiet. It has a door out to a deck with a bistro table and chairs. Charming and perfect for a quiet getaway stay whatever reason you might be in town.||||To be honest, I booked the room per the convenient location and student housing discount but I ended up being VERY pleasantly surprised. For example, stepping down to the "commons" room in the morning, I found a hot water tea kettle ready to be fired up for morning tea and an apple to snack on. (Fridge and microwave were available too but I didn't need either.) Nice table and small lounge area to hang out in -- great if traveling with...
Read moreWe stayed in Room 2 at the Coach House for 3 nights. Because this was during "Covid Times" the rooms had a 24 hour block on both sides of our reservation, which made us feel safer. The house is quite old and quaint. Because of its age, it comes with the expected creaks, steep stairs, etc. But it's all part of the charm. The room was small, but we didn't mind. All rooms are on the 2nd floor. The first floor has the office, 2 bathrooms and a common room with couches, a table and chair, fridge and microwave. Because it was Covid Times, we ordered take out and ate it in the common room. ||Wifi was good. No TV in the room (but didn't miss is).||The only thing that would have been nice would be a hot pot in the common room for water for tea/coffee.||The grounds of Shake Rag Alley were cute and fun to explore as well. Would like to come back for a workshop...
Read moreWe loved Room 2 at the Coach House. It is very simple - a full bed, a tiny bathroom, no TV, and a great walk-out porch that leads to everything. And incredibly affordable. They have made every effort to make this room cozy, welcoming and peaceful. The bed was extremely comfortable (my husband is a tough customer on this count and he loved it!) and the room was decorated with pieces from local artists. The downstairs common room has a lovely sitting area with info about everything you might want to do in the area, as well as a table for playing games, books, and a coffeepot (that is ready for you to switch on in the morning!) instructions were absolutely clear and easy, although we came late at night. Lights were on in the house to make it easier to navigate. We will definitely be back for...
