We had come here 12 years ago when it was brewery creek, and we stayed in the side by side home down in pendarvis. It was wonderful, quaint, the little touches from the owner at that time were a gracious forethought. Everything was kept up so nicely, the host and his brewery creek restaurant were an unexpected surprise of delight. This weekend my husband and I returned for our anniversary and rented the original side we had. On Thursday I received a confirmation email from the new owner Mike, upon arriving on Friday to the pub to check in and get our key, as the side by side is down another street, we found out he made a mistake. He had mistaken our reservation for a room above the pub rather than our side by side. There are a few really disappointing facts for this:it was our anniversary, I need a full kitchen as I have dietary restrictions and not being able to make our breakfast the next morning etc. He did manage to have the gentleman who was staying in the other side of the side by side to switch with us for Saturday and the rest of the time. I was a bit nervous as i thought during covid you were supposed to let the space air out for a certain time before letting someone else come in.. we bought clorax and wiped everything down to be on the safe side.. we only paid half on our account of feeling bad for him. Still being the wrong side that has a lot of sentimental feelings. However, with that being said, this trip was good except that this home is bare. I dont know if it is because of covid or what, but it is bare. And he gave us a little basket with a half opened bag of sliced bread(i thought this extremely odd in these times) and some odd looking muffins and bananas and creamers. If you come, be prepared to get most of any cooking essentials, some sort of plate that can be microwaved, sugar etc. The book hasn't been updated either. Its the little things that make a place great and he is just missing the mark. The town is quaint as ever despite it being mostly closed because of covid. I would hope after covid passes that he is able to make this place...
Read moreI looked into this hotel because one of our favorite artists was playing at the Mineral Point Opera House (also 5/5 stars--great venue & walking distance!) and thought making a mini get-away out of it would be a welcome cabin-fever season escape...so decided to book. I've been wrong about things before, but I was totally right about this! It was wonderful!!
We we were met by Mike, (so nice! ) the owner, and shown our room. We were in room 5 and it was beautiful!! The showy exposed stone walls and beautiful décor using plenty of thoughtful antiques welcomed us. The room was very clean. Beyond that, there is super comfortable bed and bedding, luxe towels and toiletries, robes, treats, a coffee maker, mini fridge, and fireplace(how great is that?!). More than I expected.
After check-in we went downstairs to enjoy the beers and menu items. The pub staff was excellent! Professional and super friendly. The beers were very tasty and the food was great! I loved that the menu stuck with delicious items that could be executed well in the space available. Mineral Point is a welcoming place and we chatted with people going to the show and other visitors, & local friendly patrons. Mike shared a bit about the local history and historical building preservation, which was super interesting. :)
After the show....There was a continental breakfast offered in the morning with really good coffee and a nice variety of pastry items. Check-out process couldn't be easier. It was such a great stay!! We were talking about our next stay as we were pulling out of the...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed on a Friday night in early June. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely repeat this unique experience! We were emailed great check-in instructions, so we knew what to expect. We arrived at about 6 pm. There is ample off-street parking and check-in was a breeze. We were shown to our room and then went back down to the charming pub for dinner right away. ||||Unfortunately, we just missed out on the Fish Fry, but the food and house brews were very good. The Korean Beef Tacos and Nashville Chicken Sliders were excellent! Please note the food portions are more small plate, so if you have a big appetite, order a couple of dishes to share or add a side of awesome fries. I believe the pub hours are a little shorter on Fridays, but they did stay open until a little after 8pm that night. ||||Room 1 itself was clean and lovely--as pictured on the website. It's quite roomy and we loved the historic character. The bed was comfy and we didn't notice any bothersome noise overnight. Breakfast was such a splendid surprise in the morning. I don't remember everything available, but there was quite a bit of variety and excellent coffee along with a selection of teas. Bagels, fruit, juices, cereals, hard boiled eggs... and delicious, fresh cheese pastries that were such a treat! I believe they source as much locally as possible.||||We had plans the next day and the morning was a bit rainy, otherwise I would have loved to have wandered around Mineral Point before we left. All in all, we enjoyed our short stay and would repeat...
