Read moreLovely Wisconsin Historical Society site. It's a Cornish mining settlement from the 1800s (one of the mines is across the street and you can walk the trails). In the 1930s two men bought and preserved many of the buildings. Admission price gets you a guided tour..ours lasted about 45 minutes. There are a couple buildings you can visit on your own. Nice little gift shop as well. Bottled water is available to purchase and there is a drinking fountain by the restrooms too. Parking area is in a lot kitty corner to the site. Read moreWe visited on a Saturday in Sept 2022. The buildings are amazing! Made by the miners and masons in the area, and later restored by two visionary men, they are now open for visitors. The stonework is beautiful, and the upper buildings are rustic and historic. We were the only two folks on our tour, which was led by a friendly, personable, and knowledgeable young man -- he loved history and it really showed thru! Mineral Point has lot of other stuff to do, but this was the highlight for us. We are members of the Wisconsin State Historical Society, so admission was free. ...
