Best Star Inn — Hotel in Montebello

I chose Best Star Inn in Montebello for its convenient location during a business trip and regretted it the moment I arrived—check‐in was a debacle as the flustered clerk couldn’t find my reservation until I conference-called Trivago with him, then slapped me with a $20 “deposit” that he brazenly refused to return, despite having refunded it the night before; the first room reeked of dampness with visible mold on the ceiling, unsightly stains in the shower, and a lingering cheese-like odor that felt downright hazardous for anyone with allergies or asthma, yet management showed zero concern or willingness to address the health risk; the website’s promise of “complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi” was a cruel joke—no extenders meant no signal, so I paid for internet I couldn’t use; hoping for relief, I upgraded to the King suite (again I had to be in the area for a business trip) only to find the mold and funky odor persisted, the TV remote dead on arrival (fixed only after begging maintenance to replace the batteries), and still no Wi-Fi; every reasonable request—remote repair, room change, my own deposit—was met with sighs, eye-rolling, lip-smacking, and outright lies from clerks who treated me as if I’d personally inconvenienced him, with no manager available to resolve anything; the door lock rattled all night with no deadbolt, heightening my safety concerns; between calling Trivago, sleeping in filth, inhaling mold spores, and fighting for my own money back, I left feeling cheated, sleepless, and stressed—hardly “budget-friendly.” If you value your health, your safety, or even just a decent night’s sleep, look literally anywhere else but Best Star Inn...

My Husband and I have stayed here twice, already.And I can definitely say that, this place is ridiculously over priced. Yes. it is filthy. the stairwells smell like a men's urinal. there's used condoms and other gross items in. and on stairwells. And yes Graffiti is everywhere.And for how the rooms look, and the lack of cleanliness in them.The EXTREME LACK of amenities in rooms. No Coffee pot, No Iron. The Towels are extremely scratchy and very harsh on your skin. and there's only 2 small bath towels. and 1 washcloth. All the coverings for Bed smell from not being cleaned. sheets are dirty. No Bath soaps of any kind. No refrigerator.. Feet get extremely Black from dirty carpet. there are no pictures of any kind on wall's. But the rooms have a "free" 24 hour Porn station for your viewing.(Isnt that special.?) Not a very clean place by any means to stay at. And the room prices are WAY TOO MUCH!!. maybe charge $10.00 a night,for the way it is.. VERY Unsanitary,and unhealthy.The Health Department would have a field day at this place. Shame on the people who run it for not taking care of it properly. That's very Bad...

We HAD no where to stay on a Saturday night we called about 40 motels and hotels if not more! Everything was booked. (Our previos reservation was cancelled to an Airbnb nearby because it was not what we had imagined through the pics) anyways…. We initially needed to stay in Anaheim near Disneyland. OMG! no where to stay! We were so stressed out and with 2 kids an infant and a toddler we stayed looking for a place for about 5 hours we ended up finding a place at almost 11pm! Anywho Best Star Inn helped us out sooo much! It was the last resort! We had NO CHOICE we had to take it. Welllllll…. Yes it’s dirty, the bathrooms were the worst, the bath tub looked nasty. The beds had small broken glass particles on it the sheets were stained. The walls had like splattered blood on it and other things. Although we were thankful to find a place to sleep. I would NOT recommend anyone stay here specially with children. The man in the office was very kind but the rooms are dirty and they smell.. I’m only giving it a 1 star because of the man in the office was so kind other than that no stars...
