Our stay at Inn at Morro Bay was very disappointing, the pictures on the website are highly deceiving, the website described newly renovated rooms upon our arrival we found our rooms to be sparse, food crumbs were all over the floor and the beds omg they did not even change the sheets it was obvious n one of the queen beds comforters had a huge rip on the inside the other one had stains all over it, both comforters were very very worn the shower tiles were filthy it was gross the place is very very under staffed . Upon check in we were notified there would be no maid service one would never have known the room had even been cleaned! No ACWe ended up purchasing 3 sleeping bags at a Walmart in Arroyo Grande which was quite a distance we also purchased lysol wipes and lysol spray our first nights stay was awful we barely got any sleep and contemplated sleeping in the car. Also unattended children swam in the pool well after 10:00 pm which made it impossible to even use the jacuzzi or attempt to sleep because the kids at the pool were so noisey. Saturday morning was awful the toilet would not flush be cause the water pressure was so low w had to call the front desk and request a plunger (according to another guest they had toilet issues as well. The grounds were overgrown and looked like they were very much in need of landscaping. The morning of check out my 11 year old granddaughter looked up to see a female looking at her in the bathroom window, my granddqaughter ran out of the bathroom and informed us my son opened the door to see a maid with her cleaning cart no one else was around. We were all traumatized by the incident, as we were packing up our car my granddaughter pointed out the maid was the one peering into the window, we then sat in the car for a few minutes and witnessed the same female maid peering into other guests windows. My son checked out and informed the person on duty at the front desk of the maid looking in the bathroom window, she literally had nothing to say other than she would notify the cleaning staff supervisor. Before we left we noted a large bug crawling around by the wall next too one of the queen beds. The Kerug coffee maker was gross it was obvious it had not been cleaned in a very long time we ran clear water through it and it came out he color of rust. The vents on the heater were covered in dust. The thermostat to the mini refrigerator was dangling out with exposed wires, there was no microwave in the room. The place is a travesty i do not to anyone unless understand how such an organization like that is even permitted to stay in business.? We took pictures of everything the proper thing to do would be to refund us for our stay. I do not recommend Inn at Morro Bay to anyone ! My granddaughter does not want to stay in Hotels because of the peeping maid issues there simply is no excuse! The employees did not wear face masks, nor were masks required of the guests. We did attempt to make other reservations the first night however none were available. During these times of ongoing strains of Covid 19 one would think the cleaning staff would properly sanitize and thoroughly clean the rooms and common areas including the pool and jacuzzi. NO AC!

Do not stay here! We stayed in room #105 it was disgusting the whole place was disgusting. My son will leave pictures...

Pleasant Stay with Some Room for Improvement

We recently stayed at the Inn at Morro Bay for a week, and overall, our experience was quite enjoyable with a few minor setbacks.

Check-In and Staff: The ladies at check-in were wonderful—welcoming and polite. They even let us check in early since our room was ready. The coffee in the reception area was delicious, and the groundskeeper was a gem, always friendly and polite whenever we ran into him.

Amenities: The pool was lovely, a heated salt-water pool that we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi was under repair and closed during our entire stay, so we couldn’t use it. The inn’s proximity to the golf course was fantastic for my husband, who loves golfing. We were also just minutes from downtown Morro Bay, making it very convenient. We also got to enjoy the Inns restaurant at happy hour. The wine pours are generous (but Chardonnays are not served chilled) and appetizers were pretty good. The coconut shrimp and garlic fries are a must order. Skip the calamari and sliders, they were nothing special. While enjoying our appetizers and drinks, we watched an otter float by in the bay. I ordered the lava cake to go so I could enjoy on the terrace. It was good but not quite $10 good. I will skip that next time.

Room: Our room was very large and included a full kitchenette with a microwave, sink, and small refrigerator. However, the bed mattress was terrible—spongy and wavy. We prefer a harder mattress that holds its shape, but this one resembled a hill range after laying on it. There were also lots of spider webs and spiders in the room, mold in the showers, and water damage to the walls in the bathroom. The windows were moldy and covered in spider webs as well.

Service: Maid service was by request only, which suited us fine since we are tidy and primarily used the room to sleep and get ready for the day. We had some trouble with the room phone—it always gave a busy signal when we tried to request more towels. We ended up just grabbing a few extra towels from the guy riding around in the golf cart restocking rooms.

Value: The price was excellent. We paid $600 for a week on the coast, and we really can’t complain about that. The view from our room was lovely, the staff was all excellent, and the location was stellar. Despite the state of the room, we felt the price matched what we received.

Overall: Would we stay here again? Yes, because for us, the price and location outweigh the room's state of disrepair. We loved the view, the friendly staff, and the convenient location. For budget-conscious travelers like us, it’s a...

The location of the inn was great—it’s just a short drive from downtown, which made it easy to explore the area. Unfortunately, my overall experience was a bit of a mix of highs and lows.

When we first arrived, I was disappointed because the pictures on their website didn’t really match what we saw in person. The inn is definitely older, and you can feel it—it has that musty smell and a dated vibe. I did take pictures after our stay, and while I kept the room clean, it honestly looked about the same as when we got there.

One thing I noticed right away was that there’s no central AC or heating. Our room only had a fireplace, which worked fine for January, but it was really cold when we first arrived. We were able to warm it up by keeping the fire going, but I kept wondering how they handle the summer heat.

The bathroom was super small, with barely any counter space, which made it hard to get ready. What really drove me crazy was that there weren’t any long mirrors in the room. I brought some new outfits with me, and it was frustrating not being able to see how they looked. It’s such a small thing, but it really made a difference. I also expected there to be robes in the room, but there weren’t any, which was another letdown.

The bed wasn’t great either. It was so soft that I felt like I was sinking into it, and if you sat on the edge, you’d just slide right off. It wasn’t the most comfortable sleeping experience.

We tried the dining area the first night for dinner and happy hour, but the service was disappointing. Nobody greeted us, and we were told to find a seat on our own. Even after sitting down, we were completely ignored by the bartender and server, so we ended up leaving and going into town. We found a great spot by the water and caught an amazing sunset, which made up for it.

The breakfast the next morning was much better. The server was super kind and attentive, and the food was simple but tasty. I appreciated that, especially after how dinner went.

Pros:

Convenient location, close to downtown. Fireplace in the room, which was nice in the winter. Breakfast service was attentive and enjoyable. Scenic dining area with pretty views.

Cons:

The pictures online don’t match what it actually looks like. No central heating or AC, which could be an issue in the summer. Tiny bathroom with no long mirrors and no robes. Bed was way too soft and uncomfortable. Poor service during dinner—felt...

Quick summary: It was not worth the price point compared to other hotels in the area. They need to relabel the room that we stayed in because it was not a bay view. I’d give it a partial bay view/parking lot. The hotel is older and you can tell. Air was too hot in room and couldn’t cool down with windows open. We made a reservation prior to visiting. We selected the King Bed Bay View option. The picture on the website showed a beautiful view of the bay. I know that pictures aren’t always the same when representing hotel rooms but this was badly misrepresented. We ended up on the ground floor with a parking lot in front of our room and the bay beyond. See attached picture. Our view consisted of cars and a unmaintained area next to the bay. It was disappointing. Another issue we had with the room was the lack of any air control. From what I could tell there were no air vents and the room always stayed warm. We left the windows open all day and it was still hot when we returned. The last issue is the age of the hotel. It does state that it’s renovated and it isn’t bad. The issue is the thin walls and ceiling. You can hear everything. It was very loud with the kids running and the housekeeper carts in the morning. I mentioned the hot air and the lack of view when we checked out and the person at the desk said they would pass it along to upper management that it should be labeled differently and handed me my receipt and told me to have a great day. It’s not the worst option but you may want to check into other places nearby.

Inn at Morro Bay - restuarant There’s this place where the land ends, and the water starts doing what it does—stretching out all gray and still, like it’s got nothing better to do. That’s where it is. The Inn at Morro Bay. Pelicans swoop like they own the damn place. Cormorants stand around like they’re waiting for a bus that’s never coming. There’s this giant rock out in the water, looming like some forgotten god. It watches everything and says nothing. I liked it. They let dogs in, which tells you something. Not about the place, but about the people. People who let dogs stay are usually all right. The boats in the bay—if you can call them that—are tired. Filthy, sagging things, covered in moss and disappointment. You’d think they once mattered, but now they’re just set pieces for the tourists and the birds. The food? God. The calamari had the consistency of regret—chewy, like someone had something to prove. Fries were hollow, like promises. The shrimp came out squared and half-frozen, like they’d been shaped by geometry instead of the sea. But the verde sliders—those were something. Mostly because of the dipping sauce. That sauce was doing a lot of the heavy lifting. The green in them matched the moss on the boat decks, which I guess was poetic, if you squinted hard enough. But the Diet Coke was good. Really good. And the help—they were lovely. Like, really lovely. That kind of genuine where you wonder what they’re doing in a place like this. Would I come back? Absolutely. Lovely help and service.
