A long time local here . I was told about a free library day use card from 6 am to 10pm daily that could be obtained at the local Library so one could enter the campground . That is when the trouble started . I have been harassed by everyone there and as a local homeless Veteran , I do own a Van I have not been treated nicely and a Park Ranger did write me up a ticket as in volition of non payment of camping fees. I do have a bit of a problem walking long distance so I would park at the restrooms to use them as it's 15 mins parking there and I was waiting to use the bathroom Park Rangers , Campground host and even the women that run the pay booth at the front gate would come over to Hassle me . YOU CAN'T PARK THERE ! the gate girls would say....or a Calif State Park Ranger would say , I'll write you a ticket for parking there or write me a parking ticket if I did not park next to the RV Sewer dump area in the day use area of the campground . I entered the campground one morning before the gate booth was open which all can do and was looking for a camping space to stay at for the day/night . A Calif Park Ranger named B.E. stopped me as I was driving thru looking for a campsite ran my driver license & reg for 20 mins then wrote me a ticket for non payment of camping fee. I told him you just watched me drive into the park and then stopped me I have not had time to find or pay for a spot yet. He did not care , he knew something I did not know then about writing someone a ticket and the hassle it will be to take care of..guilty or not guilty but he does . A 90 buck ticket turns into a 230 buck ticket if you just wish to pay it and not go to court date which is 4 months away. Even then it's just a first appearance then you will have to come back again if pleading not guilty . So if you're a visitor and are back in Kansas your little parking ticket is now 230 bucks now to clear your name . As I learned more about the campground it really is even among the workers a soap opera drama place to work ,everyone backbiting everyone else and even another Calif Park Ranger K. writes parking tickets to those that live and work there and seems to take great joy in doing so . I will be fighting my ticket and might even make a request to KSBY TV station to see if they want to cover this story in their help section...The mistreatment of a homeless Veteran by Morro Bay campground personal and Calif Park Rangers....stay tuned for follow ups...I went to the first court date and all that was done was a date for another court date off a couple months , I returned as I am a local and was given a time that day to appear , I did , then they changed that time to a later time.....I guess for the Ranger that wrote the original BS ticket , There was another person there that he wrote a ticket on the ranger did not show for that case , so it was dismissed . They made me wait another hour and the Ranger was still a no show so my case was dismissed...That ranger wrote a BS ticket knowing full well it was BS . and if I just wanted to pay it ...it goes from 93 bucks to 230 bucks so you from out of town are screwed . I talked with that Rangers boss about that Ranger and also another Ranger a female , it seems they both take great fun out of writing BS tickets then watching campers suffer and ask for forgiveness for a BS ticket . Their Boss said he has no control over them at all and has asked them to be cool people are on Vacation... (...

It’s a decent place to camp, the bathrooms are too expensive now that the prices have been rises and the time shortened: sometimes the showers are broken and won’t get hot! Irritating when you’ve already disrobed and taken all your toiletries out etc. in the winter the showers are freezing and only a portion of them have electricity in them and none in the shower side, only in the toilets side. I’d the bathroom has a shared toilet and shower there is no electric and the one close eat to the road has no electric in either. The campgrounds could be a lot better maintained, there is virtually no attempt to encourage people not to litter, the sand at each camp site is riddled with liter and the camp sites are very close together r and there ia no privacy whatsoever. The worst part of all is that I’d you do a hike and bike they can cook other unrelated campers of the opposite see right on top of you in your campsite with our any warning at all. This led to an a co camper assigned to my site without me understanding that this was the case being so rude and didn’t explain it eithe, and my feeling highly outnumber by their four to my one that I asked for a refund be left in the future I will prepare to be first to arrive and to be sure to distinguish my area from theirs. The other tent parked himself inches from wher I had laid my belongings ( in the farthest corner) and put my tarp, it was ridiculously close and to scoot over. How rude. They got there four hours after I did. They were loud and immature and smelly and smoked cigarettes and I suspected had been drinking . The hike and bike doesn’t allow drinking and it doesn’t indicate this shared camping scenario except perhaps on the wrbaite. So now that I know I can mentally and physically prepare but they should give you the option of oaying twice as much to stay alone in your site should you choose to do so or at least sex segregate or have three sites rather than two, make , dew make and coed. It’s only 10 bucks so it’s a steal. The regular no electricity sites are 35 I think and the price hikes up to75? For Eva but I’m not positive it is right. The morro strand rv park allows tent camping in designated spots for only 35 as well. The rv sites are comparable. They don’t charge or showers, they have electricity in the bathroom, and the bathroom is warm during the winter months but it seems like the hot water was turned down to like warm this summer. They are far cleaner and more professionally run but there is no after hour bathroom code provided at after hours check in so you have to convince someone to provide it to you or go to the managers quarters and get the code after hours and sometimes without it you can’t even brush your teeth I else pee, let alone shower. I don’t arrive till 12 am, so??? I think both campsites are worth the price, neither is excellent but it sure beats the 165 bucks a friend and I shelled out at the Holland inn, which is a no frills motel no where near worth that. As a kamaaina ( a local with a valid Hawaii drivers license) I have paid 65 to stay at the Hilton Waikaloa village, a massive sprawling luxury resort that has pools water slides, trams, free parking a slight distance away, dophins, culture and exotic exhibits, numerous shops and restaurants, the best beds and bedding, views, ac, xable, WiFi, and the best location on the...

We arrived at nighttime, easily found our spot #103, set up our tent, gathered our towels and toiletries to go take a shower. I was dismayed to find that we had to pay for a shower. Especially since we payed $43 for a tent site that was nothing more than a powder dirt pad, that clearly had not been groomed in ages. There was also residual dirty underwear lying on the floor of said shower. There were weeds everywhere. The site we had was really close to other tent sites as well. There was roughly 15 feet between our tent and the others. So, long story longer, we never were able to shower as we werent aware of the token needed. We then went to the restroom, and were horrified. It wreaked of stale urine, the toilet didn't flush, and it had the appearance that if you walked in, you'd contract multiple infections, aka, a cesspool of bacteria. There was wadded up toiletpaper that had the appearance of pranksters wetting it, to create massive spit wads, that were splattered on the ceiling of the bathroom. They'd been there awhile, it was obvious. Some suggestions: When your campground is full, and you're charging tokens to shower, utilize those funds to provide hourly rounds to check cleanliness and debris pickup. Disinfect your bathrooms, take a hammer and chisel, and remove the cement like spit wads from the ceiling. I can see where this campground might be appealing, especially if you have your own camper (which we unfortunately werent able to bring ours do to distance), as you can use your own facilities. There are alot of majestic trees, with a beautiful golf course nearby, not to mention the coast line. We were highly disappointed given the cost of our "dirt pad", which is normally what you'd pay for a full...

We arrived here Feb. 21st, 2023, at supper time. There was apparently only 1 spot left for the night. As I write this, it's now the next day, and we are upset to see more than half the campground remained empty overnight. What the heck! Once again, people are making reservations and NOT showing up. As we've been traveling down the coast of Oregon and California, we've experienced this repeatedly. This is extremely frustrating for traveling campers, such as us, on the move. And then you get the locals complaining about people boondocking. The park services need to fix this untenable situation. As far as Morro Bay State Park, we return here whenever we get the chance. It has a great vibe, is dog friendly, has showers, and has a mix of full or no service sites. There's larger sites for handicapped folks. Trees galore, which is a huge draw for us. The scent of the Eucalyptus trees is so aromatic. The golf course is adjacent to the campground, and there's a picturesque marina across the street, with a nice public park and dunes in the background that make up part of the breakwater. You won't run out of places to explore here. This is definitely one of our happy places. Last night, there was a wicked wind storm, and trees were falling like dominoes. Winds were 30mph (50kph), with gusts of 55mph (90kph). Some people were fleeing the campground, seeing trees falling around them. It was all very exciting. Anyway, make sure to camp here at least 1 night if you blow through town. Hehe.

If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, this is not the spot for you—it’s more like a “RV lot by the sea” than a tranquil campsite. The sound of loud generators rang through the night like a symphony of chaos, and the porch lights lit up the sky like a bad movie set, making relaxation impossible. The camp sites are packed so tightly that you can practically have a chat with your neighbor without leaving your chair. Speaking of chairs, good luck finding a place to sit and enjoy a view—there isn’t one! As for the bathrooms, calling them “clean” would be generous; they smelled like they were last scrubbed during the Stone Age. And don’t get me started on the showers—apparently, you need four coins just to find out if the hot water works, which feels like a heist at a carnival. We did find some hiking trails nearby, but watch out for poison oak—nature's way of reminding you that not all adventures are pleasant. Our arrival was a comedy of errors as we waited 45 minutes for a ranger to check our site, only to discover that someone had already “checked in” to our reserved spot. To top it all off, someone decided to open our food pantry in the early morning, leaving it ajar for the squirrels’ buffet. If you’re looking for a camping experience that offers more excitement than relaxation, this place has you covered!
