I stay in a lot of hotels. I'm not opposed to spending top-dollar as long as it's a good value. Hotels in Musining during the summer are not cheap. That said, there are quite a few options in the $150 per night range that will provide the core amenities. Our room was pushing $300. Granted, the lake is out your back door. The room is your basic Super 8 quality. Little things that drive me crazy: squeaky doors, bathroom doors that don't close (see pic), tired carpeting, terrible sound insulation (every footstep and flush above us was heard), and not letting your guests know at time of booking that the road in front of the hotel is under construction and that the bulldozers and dumptrucks start up at 7am....ouch. Also, for nearly $300 per night it seems reasonable to get something more than a continental breakfast. I suppose the hotel will say "thank you for bringing the squeaky door to our attention ".......sorry, no pass there.....housekeeping is in-and-out of each room every door.....zero excuse.

Clean rooms & hot water! We had room #118 for our 10th Anniversary and weren't disappointed. It appears that the room was recently remodeled, but the only down side is they could have brought the wall texture into the bathroom. It would have just finished it. We've read some comments about not having curtains, but there are horizontal blinds on the window and back door leading down to the water. Probably a lot easier to clean than curtains since the place is pet friendly. There are extra blankets in the dresser and the beds have a light cover but the heater-A/C unit works well. For those complaining about the lack of art on the walls- get over it. No art is better than crappy art since everyone has different taste. If it were me though, I would at least put a mirror on the wall, but we aren't discrediting the place because they don't.

This is a fantastic place with great views of the lake right out the back window. I can't say enough about how nice the actual building and grounds are but the service was unbelievable. We checked out and in the middle of out Pictured Rocks tour, my son realized that he left his ADD medicine in the room. When the tour was over, we went back to the Beach Inn and he asked the front desk if housekeeping had turned anything in. The awesome young woman at the desk said they hadn't but she left to ask them about it. Well, they had found it but discarded it in the trash. This amazing human donned a pair of gloves and started digging thorough the pile of trash bags until she found his meds! This place deserves a call out for their unbelievable customer service.

Overall a decent place to stay for a couple of nights: not great, not awful. The location on the lake is lovely, and the sunsets are fantastic. The motel itself is rather old school and bare bones, but prices more or less reflect that. The exterior walls and passageway floors could use a good scrubbing to get rid of some dirt, dessicated insects, etc. On our second night a bunch (= lots) of insects (midges) entered the room (probably through the a/c) and assembled on the ceiling right above the bed; by daybreak, the midges had either gone into the bathroom (I left the light on to try to attract them away from the bed) or had gone toward the window and died at the sill. In any case, there were lots of dead little insects in the room. But the cleaning crew didn't remove them! When we got back later the following day, dozens of dead midges were still lined up by the window, and dozens of deceased midges were still in the bathroom (mostly behind the toilet). I understand that the motel is in a natural area and that insect movements are often beyond control, but still, at least remove them! Another issue is that when I checked in, I wasn't told that there was a continental breakfast available. I had no idea. Only on our last day, when I saw someone walking out of the building with a plate of food, did I realize that there was breakfast included. Besides the insects (and response) and breakfast issue, this was a fine place to stay: very picturesque and reasonably priced for the area. The room had a fridge and coffee service--nothing fancy, but good basics. [* Not related to the review: there is road construction going on right in front of the motel and along the road through late July 2018 (at least). This means the hotel area is rather noisy during the day (jackhammers, etc.) and one must take a detour in order to get to/from central Munising. This shouldn't be too much of a problem if, like most travelers, you plan to be away for the day. It isn't the motel's fault, and once the construction is done, the improvements will be great. But this is a detail to keep in mind, for example, if you hope to stay on the motel grounds during the day for some peace...

I wanted to give this place a good review so badly, The staff was friendly and the view incredible. It was cute from the outside. But ...... The rooms were not clean. As a professional cleaner for over 15 years, it definitely wasn't clean. Thick layer of dust on everything. And I mean everything. Found unwashed poop marks on one of the top sheets, asked for different sheets, and while we were remaking the bed, found the mattress pad under the fitted sheet had very large pee stain on it. Right where I slept. I was deeply unsettled by that. There was no other protection on mattress other than cloth mattress pad and fitted sheet. Same with pillows, not other protection on pillows other than one pillow case. No protective cover to keep germs off mattress or pillows. Sheet and pad kept slipping off both beds constantly. Couldn't use the air conditioner due to it smelling absolutely horrible, it was bad. Our room got so hot we had to go buy a box fan from the store. Tried to have window open to get a breeze but with shared balcony, you could hear every conversation the neighbors were having. Not very peaceful. The bathroom was tiny and not clean. The toilet seat had Knicks and chips in it which is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Shower head ridiculously low. Not ideal for taller folks. Dust and hair found in bathroom when we arrived. Stains on lamp shades as well. Some stains on towels. It would've been fantastic experience if it was clean. The staff was friendly, and it was such a beautiful spot with the view, but the dirtiness of the room wasn't a pleasant experience. We did like that they had plenty of outdoor seating along with charcoal grills to use. So...

I reviewed all the hotels, motels, and any other option outside of camping and chose this Inn. It is true to its name as being an Inn. Charming a d great location in the lake. There is not water access here, just viewing. |I would have to separate this review in to two sections. Property and lodging. The property is 5/5. A great yard and close to the town (while we were there the road that made it close and accessible was closed, so it took 10|Min to get to town opposed to 3/4 min). The sunset was beautiful and since the unit is small there weren’t many people out at any given time. |The breakfast was simple. Anything that could easily be a grab and go and shipped in (packaged danishes, cinn rolls, cereal). ||The room. There were other reviews that forewarned about the rooms. They are tired. |The bed was clean and comfortable. There was a small microwave, fridge, and coffee pot. |Was there dust, yes. |Was there mold, yes. |Was it doable, yes. |We are not picky people at all. We are used to small coastal sleeps as we are from FL. This would take some focus on good cleaning and a revamp focus of the bathroom to make a huge difference. That’s where the downfalls are, bathroom. The tubs are what look to be original (like rubber stoppers) and for whatever reason everything was short like it was an “accessible” room without stating. Rooms are 2/5. |Overall, if you’re looking to stay in the area at peak season and not spent a ton, it’s a great option bc you live outside, take a...
